The Kate McCann Calendar, Elisabeth Fritzl And A Suspect Strike Again
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY MIRROR (front page): “KATE: I need to know Madeleine is alive..or dead”
The Mirror says Madeleine McCann went missing on “May 3 2007 9:15pm.”
Or not. Such are the facts.
THE SUN (front page): “MASDDIE – Part Two of our harrowing series”
How does it end? First read the “12-PAGE SPECIAL”.
“Maddie – A YEAR IN THE DARKNESS”
A case told in headlines:
“’Do a year in jail and you can all go home.’ NO!’”
“Tears of relief and sadness as McCanns come home”
It’s the Kate McCann calendar – 12 pictures of Kate McCann, one for each month Madeleine’s been gone. A straw poll in the Anorak office says Kate makes a decent Miss September and blooms in April. May is not her best month…
“Theory after theory..but not a single proper lead”
“So many Maddies, and wild goose chases”
“The life of torment they now endure”
“’Maddie suspect’ bid to grab girl”
Robert Murat?
A MAN matching the description of Madeleine McCann’s suspected abductor has tried to snatch a 15-year-old girl, it was revealed last night. Portuguese cops are looking into last month’s incident, which happened 30 miles from where Maddie vanished last May 3.
The man exposed himself to the Dutch girl in the village of Senhora da Rocha and tried to pull her into his Jeep. She fled from the fiend, who was about 40 with pony-tailed long hair. Police have circulated his description
DAILY STAR: “DEATH THREAT TO MADDIE PARENTS”
Says Clarence Mitchell: “On two occasions we have had to refer to the police but I don’t want to go into any detail about that.”
Good of the Star to fill in the silence.
“’Match’ is back in picture” – Detectives are “probing” the attempted abduction of a Dutch girl 30 miles from where Madeleine went missing.
Is it the same man the McCanns’ private detectives fingered, the one Gail Cooper saw? Or not?
THE HERALD: “Why sex-addicted peer cannot say he’s a victim”
Madeldine McCann and sex addict peer Irvine Laidlaw. What link? Colette Douglas home looks at the matter?
And then there is Madeleine McCann. The anniversary of her abduction is on Saturday. I know a little girl the same age as Madeleine and have seen over the year a maturing in her that Kate and Gerry McCann have missed. Madeleine is five now. She should be getting ready for primary one. She is a victim, even if she has been abducted by a well-meaning family who want a child. And that’s the biggest if of all. Her parents, too, are victims. They have lost their lovely little girl; they have been accused of harming her; they have been vilified for the admitted error of leaving her sleeping while they ate dinner 50 yards away. They live in an ongoing nightmare of not knowing where she is or even if she is alive. Stories such as that of Elisabeth Fritzl must sear them to the bone. If such a thing is possible, then what might Madeleine’s fate be?

Good luck with the move, Pilimary. It’s not the packing that does you in, though: it’s the unpacking!

They seem day by day less arrogant and more humble. Maybe expecting some strong storms. By the time PJ disclose all the hidden info, they will appear as poor victims who sincerely repent their wrongdoing

Does anybody know if Rebelo is posting?
If so, what would be his name?

“Even Nanny Pennington knew them
when they lived in New Zealand, strange she should show up in PDL.”
And give two or three really helpful statements - allegedly - and now perhaps ill-advisedly ………..hmmmm?

dark side IMO.”
Did you see my post to you late afternoon, Val ?

Chenier 417:
Yes, I realise that, Chenier, but just think of it as it was supposed to be - then [and now] on the surface………an ordinary middle class family with a missing child………why would an ambitious bloke with his cv accept this task ?
Why would those arranging it expect that he would ? Kennedy’s bucks ? Well why are they on offer ?

Nite Chenier
Thanx for your interesting posts as ever. I wonder if Anorak will have a thread on Daily Star muslim extremists (led by Walid threats) against McCann’s and criticism of their morals. Whatever next !

I was on BBC (as ever) so missed it good. It would be funny if there were arrests announced during the docu tomorrow and ITV had to deal with the scoop in the amber alert context..
BTW new thread on Mrs Healy’s desire to shake Tapas parents

OK but why people of that ilk at all ?………and why would he swap his career projectory for this ? And why would Brian Kennedy be so happy to pay for it all this time ???

Because he didn’t have a career.
CW was Tony’s hack, and Tony was going…

I have it from a very reliable source that “Chaplain’s and the church are bang next door to each other. You couldn’t get a fag paper between the two of them. Either Gerry knew full well where the church was, or they were so pissed when they got out of Chaplain’s they didn’t realise that was the church they were tripping over…….so why did he have to ask where the church was?”

Not BBC was it?
I’m considering not watching the docu tomorrow because I’m sick of it too. Just say no and let justice take its course. i may give in since self-discipline could be stronger.
CW gives hope.

It’s quiet tonight - how could this be with the PJ investigation reaching a significant point, anniversary operations in progress and a 2 hour long documentary on ITV tomorrow? It’s wierd to think that if there are any arrests to be made then the police are going to have to time it sensitively? before or after the docu ? before or after the anniversary? When might be the right time? Have police ever had to think of when is the best time to arrest suspects? if of course they have to…
‘because I could not stop for death he kindly stopped for me’ (Dickenson comes to mind)

Jesus Christ, news at 10- How the McCanns have become stronger since being made arguidos and since being made arguidos they realised that the Portuguese police were not looking for Madeleine! How much more shit have we got to be put through?
April 29th, 2008 at 10:18 pm
Tony Parsons and others describe Madeleine as a 4 year old. Now Colette Douglas in the Herald inaccurately says ‘Madeleine is five now’
If she is not found then every year she will be a year older, one day to be 18 years old until the neglect issue baffles anyone reading about it. Neglect issue diminishing over time.

That is one I haven’t viewed, so thanks for the tip.
Do check out Bishop’s Wife. (Was remade recently as Preachers Wife with Denzle Washington and Whitney Huston, but go for the original.) BW had a fantastic cast. Loretta Young has never been better. David Niven. Monty Woolley. James Gleason. Gladys Cooper. Elsa Lanchester.

Dream Wife with the wonderful Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr is also a little-known but extremely enjoyable film; I haven’t seen Bishop’s Wife.

She was a wit, but she wrongly disparaged Kathryn Hepburn as showing a range of emotions from A to B. Which brings me back to Cary Grant movies. In addition to my top 3 (Bringing up Baby, Philly Story, N x NW), I will add another: Bishop’s Wife. My favorite holiday flick exception for all versions of a Christmas Carol.
