Madeleine McCann: More Secrets And A Rerun
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
DAILY MIRROR: “Maddy file kept shut”
A Portuguese judge overseeing the Madeleine McCann inquiry has extended judicial secrecy by a further three months.
WORKSOP GUARDIAN: “Madeleine files set to stay secret for another three months”
Says the McCanns’ spokesman, Clarence Mitchell: “We cannot comment on reports in Portugal that the judicial secrecy period has been extended by another three months as Kate and Gerry’s legal advisors have yet to be officially informed of any such decision.”
“However, if it’s the case, it’s clearly disappointing and Kate and Gerry’s lawyers will of course continue to press for the opening of the police file. You have to ask yourself how the period of secrecy remaining in place for such a long time actually does anything to help find Madeleine.”
THE SUN: “Maddie cops get set for re-run”
A RECONSTRUCTION of Madeleine McCann’s disappearance is set for May 29 — but her parents are still undecided whether to take part.
Kate and Gerry McCann and their “Tapas Seven” pals have been asked to return to Praia da Luz, Portugal, for the event. It would recreate the events of May 3 last year, when Maddie — whose fifth birthday was this week — vanished.
Says Clarence Mitchell: “Kate, Gerry and friends are willing to take part. But why now, a year after she went missing? What is the value?”
Maybe if ITV could build a set looking like Praia da Luz in, say Brighton, things would be more relevant?

Do you know that the PJ have oodles and oodles of evidence, no I don’t believe it either.

Crimewatch (programme in Britain) finds value in reconstructing crimes etc sometimes YEARS after the incidents and very often it does jog memories….
….me thinks the hideous pair protest too much…..
May 15th, 2008 at 9:32 am
The PJ are not letting things go are they-bet they have more evidence that they let on. Why can’t a reconstruction be carried out where the “crime took place”, right there at the holiday apartments, etc. Good to hear the files are being closed still. There will be some people who do not like this. IMHO.

Gandolf
What is it you believe then?
The ones who dont have anything or very little knowledge of what they have, are us…
do you really believe the PJ would publicise the evidence?
Why are the mccanns so worried about getting hold of all the info given to police forces,up to the extend to force people to commit a crime, like breaking secrecy of the law?what is this they want to know so badly?if the PJ has found Madeleine?if they have looked for her and followed all the stupid false sightings, even though it cost PORTUGAL a frightening amount of cash the portuguese govt could use to OTHER ends,to the benefit of their own country?
Get a grip

The hideous pair is very scared
“Of course, Kate and Gerry would do anything they could if they thought it would help find their daughter, clarrie says…..
………but it is NOT about finding Madeleine. It is about “how” she possibly “disappeared”
It seems they have great difficulties in coming down to terms with this…and for very good reasons
May 15th, 2008 at 9:52 am
In a reconstruction what happens is, the investigation is boosted at the site of the crime because when people are put in this particular situation of re enactement, they must repeat they claim what they did and they are left exposed under the eyes of the investigators. It is a very different “game”.If they do not want to be the losers, they should watch out…..they cant
This is why they do not want to go back….

j0,
your posts are to look forward too.

I think a reconstruction is a good idea, it can fine time things, like the checkings, and the sightings, shame it wasn’t on May3rd when the natural light would be very similar, three weeks later and it would be lighter later in the evening, and the shrubs etc would be so much bigger.
May 15th, 2008 at 10:10 am
maybe they want to reconstruct the day the body was moved !

But Gandolf, what’s wrong with a good bit of old-fashioned “Mr Plod” policework? We are talking about re-enacting incidents that occured in a public place, with independent people around. The cops of yore managed to solve crimes without DNA and triangulation. Why not a reconstruction to test any inconsistencies, and to help suss out what evidence should be preferred where it differs?
