Madeleine McCann: Every Directors Worst Nightmare
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann
THE GUARDIAN: Ben Affleck has a movie out and thanks to the case of Madeleine McCann it’s getting lots and lots of press.
Breaking news broke my movie - What scuppered the chances of Ben Affleck’s latest film? This time he can’t blame the critics, says Andrea Hubert. Events in Portugal on the other hand…
It’s the twist of fate that every director fears most: you spend endless meetings fine-tuning the script, months sweating on a Hollywood lot, run it by the test screenings - and then, just as you’re ready to serve up your latest cinematic masterpiece, real life pulls the rug out from beneath your feet.
It’s every director’s worst nightmare. But Affleck’s film is a work of fiction and the disappearance of Madeleine McCann is raw reality…
Ben Affleck can tell you all about it. His directorial debut, Gone Baby Gone, netted critical plaudits on its US release in October 2007. Here in the UK, though, the film - which tells the story of a hunt for a missing four-year old - has spent months in limbo thanks to its eerie similarity to the Madeleine McCann case (child actress Madeline O’Brien even bears an uncanny resemblance to McCann).
But Madeleine O’Brien did not go missing, not really. Madeleine McCann did. One wants to be famous; one is famous. Can you spot the differences? Can you tell the difference between reality and fiction?

Maravilha 656….. jogging yes but not in the first week, let alone the first day as its now being related.
Its like the buggy… they never said they didn’t have a buggy with them in PDL, they said they didn’t have a buggy with them the first night when they went to the Millenium bar. They said they hadn’t realsied how far away it was so after that they used the Tapas Bar.
Chaplins is also a rumour, oft put forward by Ian. Realistically, if they had gone to Chaplins on any night and left the children then the PJ would have had them for abandonment at the time. All of them…….. even a child monitor would have been useless under those conditions.
Re: the outbreak of rabies on the 3 arses. Twas only a matter of time!

I will be away for one week.
Wonder if something new happens meanwhile.
Happy sleuthing!

Tinsel are you are particularly festive type?

VQ, this isn’t ‘bed time’ reading but two cases that carried the headlines down here when they individually occurred. So well remember the Dorr case as the father was a suspect for awhile. You’ll note where bodies were found.

Did always strike me as odd that they didn’t ask for the twins to be tested, that night. Blood could have been drawn off by the friends? or even a local doctor’
they had the twins tested like months later. i just cannot think of any drug that stays in the system for months and can be tested from hair samples then except for arsenic, so it must be rumour.
****
No, they had the twins tested at least 5 months after the crime!

IMO, the PJ must be already very far with the translation of the process.
I ask myself if we all have to wait till August.
Did the McCanns give an interview after the Public Ministry publication?
June 2nd, 2008 at 1:09 am
Did Clarence comment the Public Ministry document which has been made public last Thursday?
Garth, did you answer my question?
(What is your opinion about the Public Ministry document?)

‘I do find it extraordinary’
to be honest i find it quite surreal, like watching the o.j simpson story unfold again.
.
‘It may be that they really are the perfect poster pair for all the people who think that getting on the telly is the most wonderful thing that could happen to them, and that money is the only measure of someone’s value.
The dying spasms of Nulabour, perhaps…’
i think the new way seems to be to find religion and then use it:
NEW YORK: Tony Blair, the former prime minister of Britain, has unveiled plans for an ambitious new charity that he hopes will enlist religion as a force for economic development and conflict resolution, rather than violence and strife.http://tinyurl.com/4ladvl
