Madeleine McCann’s Halo 3: Selling Video Games And Making Jokes

maddie-where-are-you Madeleine McCanns Halo 3: Selling Video Games And Making JokesMADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann, Kate McCann and Gerry McCann

DAILY TELEGRAPH: “The News Quiz”

As The News Quiz returns, host Sandi Toksvig tells James Walton why it’s lasted so long – despite the ‘galling’ low pay she and her guests receive

Is Our Maddie fair game for comedy?

Needless to say, some news stories are funnier than others. (The show, for example, steered well clear of Madeleine McCann.) Fortunately, even in the darkest times, “politicians have the most staggering skill at producing material for us”. With that 66th series about to begin, Toksvig now finds herself “terribly grateful to Sarah Palin. For comedy writers, she’s just heaven.”

EUROGAMER: “Maddie reference spotted in Bungie trailer”

Speculation is mounting that the new trailer for Bungie’s next Halo project features a reference to missing five year-old Madeleine McCann.

Selling video games with Madeleine McCann:

Apparently the message “MADDIE, WHERE ARE YOU?” appears in three frames of the video. A debate has now kicked off over whether this is a reference to the missing girl, who disappeared in May 2007.

Bungie has yet to comment on the matter.

CVG ONLINE: “Halo ‘Maddie’ reference sparks controversy”

A frame in Bungie’s new Halo 3 ‘Keep It Clean’ trailer is being taken as a reference to missing British child Madeline McCann.

Amongst various messages flashed across the screen during the trailer, one reads ‘MADDIE, WHERE ARE YOU?’, sparking controversy on internet forums - including this thread on the official Bungie site.

Well, if the PR increases sales, then why not..?

  5. 5 The Real Stig Says:

Perhaps the add-on level for Halo 3 being touted via that trailer will have a female marine in it called Maddie who you have to find and save from the brutes.

I shall have to have a word with number one son for not informing me of this revelation last night.

  15. 15 Maravilha Says:

    Anorak, a question,

When you add “jj.” or “edit.” to a comment, what do you mean by that?

-agw: All sites reserve the right to edit for legal reasons. Sometimes it is necessary to edit the content of postings. All posters should bear in mind this is a UK-hosted site and all comments are the responsibility of the author who should not rely on Moderators to correct errors.

    Jo:
Young Mr Anorak tells me that as far as is known, Bob Dylan is not implicated and will make his own mind up about who he is going to sue. He is still very much alive and defends his copyright.

    Sam:
The above should also answer your question. It is a blatant advertisement for another site, but we have allowed it and your posts to stand.

  21. 21 sam Says:

    but perhaps it would’ve been better (assuming that hadn’t been the case) to ask mr dylan first, along the lines of;
dear mr dylan, would you mind terribly if i used your video and song for my personal campaign/vendetta/ideal/politics, et cetera.

  22. 22 brandon flours Says:

    Sam

The comments were funny “concrete boots”

  23. 23 sam Says:

    good morning lone :)

yes brandon, that’s the one :)

i really dislike sites where you have to register and sign on, i keep on losing passwords.

  25. 25 Abraham Zapruder Says:

So Brian Kennedy is worth £350 million.

He wants to use some of his fortune to help solve the Maddy case.

Here’s an idea, why not put up a reward (say £3m) for information leading to the conviction of the person (s) responsible for Maddy’s disappearance? The previous reward for the return of Maddy safe and well does not seem to have worked.

He says he is prepared to put up any amount to assist a Defence for K&M. But if, as Mr Kennedy believes, K&M are innocent then would the reward not potentially result in a saving of Defence costs?

Seems to be a good idea from either side of the fence.

  26. 26 sam Says:

az, there’s plenty of reward money up and presumably a reward leading to maddies finding would also lead to a conviction. one of the reasons why it’s improbable to have been an abduction is that no claims were made, ie no split on someone, realistically if she had been kidnapped by a gang someone would’ve said something surely considering the amount of the reward.
the mccanns complain they spent a million on the ’search’ for madeleine, but everything they’ve done, imo, has been nothing but a waste, ribbons and ballons, posters not reflecting accurately how maddie looks, and so on.

  27. 27 sam Says:

it seems they have a method of undercutting and overspending. and some of the press stories we find out now have been blatent lies, not lies in the sense of it being printed so, but lies by giving impressions that don’t reflect the reality, in this instance i’m thinking of the story of the men who travelled all the way from scotland to pdl with a huge blow up billboard, the impression was given, or allowed to stand that these lads came up with the idea by themselves out of the goodness of their own hearts, reality was that it was a sponsored gig and the lads were doing a job.

  28. 28 Abraham Zapruder Says:

sam, indeed but it is a thought, why don’t these high rollers put up a huge reward for information leading to the perpetrators’ conviction? Why just the emphasis on lawyers fees?

The first reward (NOTW, JK Rowling, Wayne Rooney etc) was for Maddy’s safe return, alive and well. I’m talking about a more general reward to solve the case whatever that outcome may be.

I guess I shouldn’t just mention BK either, there have been other high rollers involved, plus Mr Amaral must be a bit better off by now

  29. 29 sam Says:

i think we’ve all been had basically by the mccanns.

  30. 30 Abraham Zapruder Says:

What we need is a hero to step forward, come on Bill Gates, Paul McCartney etc, and if the authorities chipped in with a promise of immunity (if the informer is a sprat who lead the cops to the mackeral) then who knows???
