In articles published on 16 September and 2 December 2007 we suggested that Russell O’Brien and Jane Tanner, the holiday companions of Kate and Gerry McCann, might be named as official suspects by the Portuguese police investigating Madeleine’s disappearance and that Dr O’Brien might have helped to cover up the true facts.

See - Today it all becomes more clear….
Just been browsing our glorious tabloids - thats ‘Tabloids’ - not ‘hemorrhoids’ - The one thats hot and has a big red banner across the front - they say ‘Britains most popular’ …. etc.

loco - why would I have to do back flips? I want to know what happened to Madeleine. Whoever is responsible for her “vanishing” I will be HAPPY when that person in brought to justice.
And Pam, no continents, I’m thinking more a free ride on the next space mission. One that has to spend several years collecting data and sending it back to earth before disintegrating.

Watcher is quite correct about the reconstruction being pointless. It could not possibly uncover new evidence. Some of you are very brave with your ‘I would have returned’ bravado. I am with Watcher. The minute I became aware the Police did not believe ‘our’ story, and it became clear they therefore had no intention in looking for the abductor ‘we’ knew there to be, I would have stopped cooperating with them.
If the PJ really wanted a reconstruction, why did they not do one much earlier on, when everyone was still in PDL? Why wait until they had all returned to the UK? Very stupid of them to miss the opportunity - don’t you think? - and expect people to disrupt their lives even further.

1. Given the option, and having clearly been the intended victim of coercion, I would have absolutely chosen not to go back.
2. Given a subpoena/ warrant/ legal document of any kind, I would have had no choice.
3. While I have seen several of the group question the value of any unfilmed
“reconstruction ” A YEAR AFTER THE CHILD’S DISAPPEARANCE, I have yet to see anything like an official invitation or demand, nor have I seen any formal and final response. The idea that a discrepancy of five-minutes in the testimony of a dozen people might be a.) critical to the case’s solution, and b.) resolved on some cockeyed assumption that memory IMPROVES WITH TIME, is NUTS.
4. I take all this to mean that this was yet another smokescreen–a way to malign the character and motives of the group without providing anything at all concrete.
5. And that sucks.

I have just re-watched Jane Tanner’s interview and she didn’t giggle, her testimony was clear and the diagram shown by the Panorama programme showed her clearly walking on the other side of the road to Gerry and his friend - who if engrossed in conversation, would not have any reason to notice her go by.
Nah! I’m not buying their guilt at the moment. And now I’m away to bed. :*

Why did Kate suggest that someone was watching the family?
The family was never together to be watched!
The kids were either in their different creches, or having all their meals hidden away in the apartment.
The parents were always off doing their own athletic anti-kid thing.
I think the Family McCann had ONE meal together, on the first evening at the Millennium restaurant.
Otherwise, the parents went their separate ways, and sent their poor kids THEIR separate ways.
