Hail, yampster!

Clearing south-westerly, visibility good

Not in Wales, it’s not; I was googling for the rugby only to discover that Doctor Who and its spin-off, Torchwood, which has seen Cardiff Bay transformed into a post apocalyptic landscape, is to be followed by the Triffids.
On the whole I preferred it the way it was before…
November 29th, 2008 at 5:16 pm
That’s modern town planning for you
November 29th, 2008 at 5:37 pm
Bugger the town planning; in my view the rot set in when they decided that people with Welsh accents could be sex-gods. One Tom Jones doth not a summer make.
It’s hardly surprising they had to blow the entire place up to off most of Torchwood’s staff, and ship in a vampire from another dimension who may look good in tight jackets but probably hasn’t a hope in hell of getting down and dirty with a triffid.
So, what do you think of the Cipriano trial so far?
Personally I think they should fire the writers and go for something a bit more realistic…
November 29th, 2008 at 5:57 pm
I think the Cipriano trial is going along the lines of however its viewed from whichever side of the fance one is on.
I’ve been to the dark side and also the very light side and it seems that we all read into it what our initial instincts told us!
November 29th, 2008 at 6:03 pm
Wonder who the new Doctor will be?
November 29th, 2008 at 6:25 pm
Cool and Calm
I stay away from the dark side, and so am relying on appalling Google translations from Correio da Manhã articles, but the last few days seem to have been witnesses for the defence, including a psychiatrist to comment on Leonor Cipriano’s mental state -not good-, a photographic expert to comment on the pictures produced -not good- and a prison officer to comment that it was not until the female director of the prison suggested to Ms Cipriano that she could get money if she had been attacked by the police that Ms Cipriano decided that she had been attacked by the police -also not good.
Admittedly this was all very predictable, given the very early evidence in the trial that Ms Cipriano had in fact already given the testimony she now claims was beaten out of her in the presence of her then lawyer, before the alleged beating, thus rendering it otiose…

Evening all. Bring Tom Baker back!
November 29th, 2008 at 6:31 pm
Well, it looks more and more as if a time machine is going to be the only way to solve this one…
November 29th, 2008 at 6:36 pm
I liked Tom Baker - kinda snuggly in a Time Lord way
November 29th, 2008 at 6:37 pm
Chenier,
It looks that way! But would it be admissible in court?
November 29th, 2008 at 6:38 pm
I preferred Jo!
November 29th, 2008 at 7:09 pm
Steve T
Well, it would certainly raise interesting questions but a number of precedents have been overturned in this case, so Who knows?
Wonder where the Fund had its dosh stashed?
Iceland, Isle of Man…
November 29th, 2008 at 7:59 pm
I liked Tom Baker but he is now a teeny bit of a caricture… he was on I’ve got news for you… very funny but so very regally OTT. I used to have a scarf like his! !
Chenier, I thought Icelend savers have been given better guarantees that us complacent mugs with RBS? could well be wrong of course. Finances and all that!
I like to peek at the dark side when I’m in a Groundhog Day mood. I post occasionally when I feel troublesome.

Cool and Calm
I actually like Christopher Eccleston best of all the Doctors, though I remember dutifully hiding behind the sofa with my daughter during the seasons Sylvester McCoy played the part. He did a children’s Christmas concert in the Barbican and I had to explain that there was no need to worry about aliens attacking Earth when he was off duty because his assistant would have no problems in dealing with it.
Not that I’m into feminist indoctrination or anything like that….
As for the RBS, it hasn’t gone bust, and, now that we own it, it won’t go bust; whereas the Icelandic banks did. There are always limits on the amounts of an account which is guaranteed, hence the wails of anguish, and I have read that they are looking at the vexed question of the British offshore tax havens; expecting the taxpayer here to bailout people who have put money into the tax havens so they don’t have to pay tax on it seems a bit unfair.
On a more cheerful note, will you be attending the farewell Tour with Cliff and the Shadows?
November 29th, 2008 at 8:47 pm
No sadly. Huge crowds don’t do it for me anymore. I shall have the DVD in due course I guess, I also have the Stones ‘Shine a Light’ on my list for Santa. wish I had their stamina… Cliffy and Keef. The good and the bad……..
November 29th, 2008 at 8:59 pm
C&C
I have some problems in seeing the attraction of Kliffie, and that picture of him with Cherie Blair does him no favours, but Keef still retains the Captain Jack Sparrow zest for life which works irrespective of age, I think. And then there’s Russell Brand, being Russell Brand, on how he won the election for Obama, whilst having a go at journalists and Hitler:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blog/2008/nov/29/russell-brand-obama
who thankfully shows no signs of reforming in the near future…

Evening, Lone!
How are you feeling? And how are the rest of the family? I hope they haven’t caught the bug from you…
November 29th, 2008 at 10:12 pm
I’m much better thanks. I had to go back to the doctors on Friday and get some penecillin and they seem to be doing the trick. We’ve just feasted on a nice Chinese take away and we’re vegging out in front of the box. Had a great day today with no.1 son, its his 5th birthday tomorrow and we had him today and he opened his presents and had birthday cake etc we was supposed to have him tomorrow but his mum, as always, threw a apnner in the works and I had to tell lots of people coming up from London and surrounding areas that his party was cancelled which was extremely annoying but the day turned out fantastic today with a low key affair just him and us and nan and grandad. He loved all of his presents and was a great little boy and he makes me sooo proud.
We’ve been having some fun with the bump this evening too. we can feel toes poking out into ribs and hic cups and all sorts - it’s so facinating. Mum is doing so well and taking it all her in stride making me doubly proud. Only a week to go til due date so we’re really waiting with aniticipation and getting so excitied to finally meet the next addition to the family
How are you? Have you had a nice weekend so far? Feeling the festive spirit yet? A quick trip to Hamleys alwats does it for me, apart from the crowds. It’s been no higher than 2 degrees all day today so we’ve kept in nice and snug apart from when I had to drop the little un off. It was very dark driving as there is no moon that I could see. Big sis coming up from Earlsfield with her 2 year old tomorrow and she is one big handfull. Entertaining to the last and flat out all day long so we’re looking forward to that.
November 29th, 2008 at 11:03 pm
Lone
I’m glad to hear your son enjoyed his birthday celebration with you; it can be really hard with someone messing things up but if you can take it in your stride it’s a huge achievement. And I’m glad the Bump is limbering up ready for the big day; your wife must be getting tired.
I’m being extremely mean and holding off from the Xmas shopping until there are more reductions, despite the state of the economy; there has been a massive fireworks party at the Royal Artillery Ground so presumably someone, somewhere has still got the dosh to push the boat out.
Keep taking the tablets and with luck you will all be cruising healthily on to your first Xmas together; then you can get indigestion just like everyone else…

Ah ’tis so sad. No more Maddie fights.
I do miss the wee window showing the recent comments. Anorak, please can we have this feature back?
November 29th, 2008 at 11:49 pm

You want Maddie fights?
Glutton for punishment springs to mind…
November 29th, 2008 at 11:59 pm
Nooo–oo–ooo Chenier. ….(I can do more ooos)

The demise has been somewhat influenced by the change in Anorak’s format.
Wherefore art thou Madeleine campaigners?
November 30th, 2008 at 12:01 am
spongebob, you can view recent comments if you locate an old anorak page, they are still displayed on the old pages.

I did raise a few points earlier on about the Ciriano trial but nobody seemed terribly interested; granted that might be my fault rather than the intrinsic nature of the subject…
November 30th, 2008 at 12:05 am
Sam, thanks for that.
But it’s very sad for the Anorak techies. No user testing.!!
