Journalists Pound The Dead Baby Beat

baby p abuse 150x150 Journalists Pound The Dead Baby BeatMORE tales form the social work casebook in the Star.

It must be grim job being Liam Miller, the Star’s now unofficial dead baby watcher.

The once ubiquitous MySpace beat has been replaced with a hunt for dead babies.

Today Miller brings news that a 13-month-old girl, one Miller identifies as a “baby”, had a virus which led to breathing problems.

While mum was out drinking, she died. She was being cared for at the time by her sister.

“It comes in the wake of the Baby P tragedy, in which dozens of social workers and medics…failed to spot he was being abused.”

And there is the ubiquitous picture of Baby P.

Of this new child, Miller tells us that social workers “had stopped supporting the family four months earlier.”

Readers are told nothing more. It’s a story for which only two details are required: dead baby; social services.

It’s not journalism - it’s a word search game for ghouls…
