Modern Conundrums: Can Non-Obese Outweigh The Majority Obese

fat4 300x235 Modern Conundrums: Can Non Obese Outweigh The Majority ObeseA PUZZLER, a modern conundrum: Can the non-obese outweigh the majority obese?

Michael Segal notes:

If all of the obese people were children, and all of the not-obese people were adults, the nonobese could outweigh the obese in a country in which half of people are children. This is imaginable since obesity has been increasing in recent years, though implausible because obesity is not that much more prevalent in children.

Average height?

To make this doubly unexpected, since one can define obesity in an age-dependent manner and choose the age cutoff, one could even have in the same population a Will Rogers phenomenon in which one of the children becomes an adult, thereby lowering the average weight of both groups.

The fat people are, of course, thanks to big genes and Oprah Winfrey’s chat show a renewable source of energy. The fat should be used for pushing cars or stored in big jars and boiled down for: a) the entertainment of the thin; b) their own good; c) candals.
