Burning Snow Watch: Global Warming Update
SNOW. “Weather chaos,” says ITN. We knew it was coming. The Met Office predicted last September:
The Met Office forecast for the coming winter suggests it is, once again, likely to be milder than average.
Says the Telegraph:
Arctic blizzards are set to cause a national shutdown on Monday as forecasters warn of the most widespread snowfall for almost 20 years… This winter has already been the coldest for 13 years, delaying the arrival of snowdrops in gardens.
The Daily Express has snow news on pages 1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 8, 9 and 10.

dairy
Down here (Essex) we are just not used to snow, an inch and we are done for….the M11 nonsense some years back was due to packed ice and no grit ( not true Brit grit,, even we have plenty of that) but the salt lorry grit stuff.
I was brought up on a Welsh hill farm where we were regularly snowed in for 2 weeks, and trudging down to town ( 3 miles) for provisions and to escape the farm version of cabin fever…the Co-op delivery van would wait at the local pub with bread /flour/gin etc.
I love the cold weather, and every October am hoping for a proper winter, got one this year.
But we did spend a November in Yorkshire a few years back, and it was smashing, even the 4×4 revelled in snow on the N Yorks moors.
I get really envious when I hear the snow gates are shut in the Cairngorms, and we have rain down here….

amazing how it is treated as a complete disaster, just because the bulk of the snow has fallen down south - oh the catastrophe!!!
here oop north our snow, gales, storms etc never usually warrant more than a cursory mention, never mind several pages of a “national” newspaper….
…or maybe we’re just a bit tougher and don’t moan about it so much…?
