RIP Ralph Millward: Killed In Bournemouth
IN Westbourne, a Victorian village to the west of Bournemout, six teenagers are arrested over the death of Ralph Millward, the Big Issue seller who stood outside the Marks & Spencers.
Your writer knew Ralph Millward. Not personally. Not well. Ralph was a figure on the pavement, a familar and friendly face and form.
I know the head of the police who covers the case. He knew Ralph Millward. His wife , a policewoman, also knew him. The dead man was likeable and benign.
As the Mail reports:
One 14-year-old boy, three 16-year-old boys, one 17-year-old girl, and one 18-year-old woman, all from the Bournemouth area have been arrested and are helping police with their enquiries, according to a Dorset police spokesman.
A man is dead. How he died and why we may never discover. But he will be missed.
RIP Ralph Millward.

At first I just recognised the face from recently being in westbourne myself, then I realise I know him as the guy that wondered round outside the nightshelter at bournemouth and a friend of a friend from drinking at a pub in boscombe, I didnt know him to any more extent than that, but I heard that he was killed for asking for a cigarette off these scum that killed him, I know they say smoking kills, but this is just ridiculous, Ive nothing against people just because they have to suffer the misfortune of having to live on a council estate, but as regards what the man says above, well Ill go with the judical system on this one and say yes, lets be all good and rehabilitating and send them to an outdoor retreat centre with holidays abroad as their punishment, but do the holiday abroad bit first, make it a state in the US that still has the death penalty, then give them the electric chair, then bury their bodies in the outdoor retreat centre.
RIP Ralph and when I finally snuff it one day, hope we can be friends in heaven

I live in Westbourne and knew Ralph. Not really well, but I’d bought him dinner a couple of times in the chinese restaurant where he went to watch the telly and given him the odd fiver here and there and had numerous conversations with him. He was always cheerful and never had a bad word to say about anything. The kids that murdered him are vile, ferrel council estate scum and shouldnt be allowed to mix with the public ever again, however this countries ridiculous judicial system will probably get them sent to an outdoor retreat centre and trips abroad as their punishment.
RIP Ralph.. Hope its better on the other side mate.
