The Placenta Teddy Bear Is The Christmas Gift That’s Part Of You
WHY not forgo eating your baby’s placenta and instead turn it into a curio, a coffee table piece, and object d’art - like a teddy.
At the Doing it for the Kids exhibition - an “exhibition of sustainable play design” for “designers who don’t want to make landfill” – designer Alex Green has created the Placenta Teddy Bear.
Green’s ‘Twin Teddy Kit’ “celebrates the unity of the infant, the mother and the placenta”.

WHAT is it about climate change campaigners that makes them so easy to dislike? Here’s one who pretty much epitomises the type. The talk is of climate justice. But do you know the rules? Who’s the judge and jury? Is there a court of appeal?

British Law Elevates Climate Change Belief To Same Status As Relgion
AL Goreans can delight that their green beliefs are now an official religion, in the eyes of the law. One day on from the climate change spiritualists knocking at the door, global warming belief is granted the legal status of a religion.
The messenger is Tim Nicholson, 42, from Oxford, former head of sustainability at property firm Grainger plc. He tells Mr Justice Michael Burton that he was made redundant in July 2008 due to his “philosophical belief about climate change and the environment“.
Mr Burton rules that “a belief in man-made climate change … is capable, if genuinely held, of being a philosophical belief for the purpose of the 2003 Religion and Belief Regulations“.

Al Goreans Sell Inconvenient Truth Sequel As The Bible Code
GLOBAL warming is no longer the terror it once was. Even rebranding it as climate change is not having the desired efect. What we need is a religious approach. Al Gore is on it.
George Monbiot tells us:
There is no point in denying it: we’re losing. Climate change denial is spreading like a contagious disease. It exists in a sphere which cannot be reached by evidence or reasoned argument; any attempt to draw attention to scientific findings is greeted with furious invective. This sphere is expanding with astonishing speed.

The X Factor’s Jedward Will Kill Us All Says Climate Change Expert
WANT to know how the X Factor could bring about not only war with China but the end of the entire planet? Writing in the Irish Times, John Gibbons tells you:
Time to discard our delusions and get real
Shows like the X Factor fuel the fantasy that anyone could, if they tried hard enough, be the next big thing. Positive thinking sounds innocuous, even benign, but it differs from cheerfulness or normal optimism in that it often extends to believing that the world is shaped by our wants and desires, and that these can be willed, genie-like, into existence.
Stick with it:
In Generation Me, psychologist Jean Twenge points out that “we simply take it for granted that we should all feel good about ourselves, we are all special and we all deserve to follow our dreams”. Over the last 25 years, international studies have tracked a strong rise in narcissistic belief among young people.

School Nativity Features Slaughter Of The Innocents
THE GUARDIAN’S Alex Renton supports an end to babies and the causes of babies - the end of sperm banks and an end to IVF.
He tells us: “Fewer British babies would mean a fairer planet.”
No, Nick Griffin and your BNP goons – he means fairer, as in green not white. Renton is no fascist:
The worst thing that you or I can do for the planet is to have children.

Nowhere Island Brings-Tows The Artic To Britain
NOWHERE ISLAND is the work of artist Alex Hartley. To raise awareness over climate change, Mr Hartley will be taking rocks from an island in the Svalbard archipelago north of Norway by barge to Weymouth for the Olympic sailing in 2012.
The rocks will be put on a floating football pitch-sized platform to create Nowhere Island. No Where Island will then be towed by tug boat around the South West coast to Bristol.
It’s all part of the 2012 Cultural Olympiad. And Mr Hartley fought off other artists to win the £500,000 commission from London 2012 and the Arts Council.
Mr Hartley says the environmental cost of towing the island was outweighed by the “poetry of the project“.
So as not to pollute his vision, we give you the story in full.

David Miliband Spreads Fear With Climate Change Map
AT London’s Science Museum, British Foreign Secretary David Miliband showing graphically how climate change “could lead to water and food shortages, mass migration and conflict if action is not taken at a landmark summit in Copenhagen in December.”
Could. Says Dave:
“The reason for publishing this map is that for many people, not only in our own country but around the world, the penny hasn’t yet dropped that this climate change challenge is real, it’s happening now.”
From “could”, we’ve got to “now”. And if it is “now”, then why does the map show us what “could” happen in the future?
The effects of climate change are not in “some far flung future” but would affect hundreds of millions of people within his lifetime, he added, unveiling the map with his brother Ed, Britain’s climate change minister.

Time To Eat The Dog: The Real Guide To Sustainable Living.
WANT to save the planet. Kill a dog. And eat it. A new book says so. The Anorak Book Club says PuppyBeef agrees.
The eco-pawprint of a pet dog is twice that of a 4.6-litre Land Cruiser driven 10,000 kilometres a year, researchers have found.
Victoria University professors Brenda and Robert Vale, architects who specialise in sustainable living, say pet owners should swap cats and dogs for creatures they can eat, such as chickens or rabbits, in their provocative new book Time to Eat the Dog: The real guide to sustainable living.

Gordon Brown Has 50 Days To Save The World From Global Warming Plague
GORDON Brown is building up the heat on global warming by telling negotiators flying to the Copenhagen climate summit that they have “50 days to save the world from global warming”.
As luck has it, these 50 days will not be interrupted by General Election, and Brown can focus his energies on telling the Major Economies Forum in London, which brings together 17 of the world’s biggest greenhouse gas-emitting countries, that there is “no plan B“.
Says Brown of the coming plagues:
“In Britain we face the prospect of more frequent droughts and a rising wave of floods The extraordinary summer heatwave of 2003 in Europe resulted in over 35,000 extra deaths.”

Climate Change Fear: The CO2 Monster Attacks British Children
HERE’S the new video from our British government that says climate change is going to kill you and yours, and your pets. The c02 monster is going to kill the kids in their sleep. If the daymares don’t get them first. Or the turbines.
I’m thinking of changing Anorak’s “scare stories” section to “climate change”:
Climate change sceptics are to be targeted in a hard-hitting government advertising campaign that will be the first to state unequivocally that Man is causing global warming and endangering life on Earth …
The advertisement attempts to make adults feel guilty about their legacy to their children. It features a father telling his daughter a bedtime story of “a very very strange” world with “horrible consequences” for today’s children.
Although, C02 might be just the ticket and its the oxygen that’s gonna kill yer:

Global Warming Triggered The American Samoan Earthquake
YOU remember that tsunami in American Samoa, the one caused by the shifting of the planets tectonic plates?
Well, forget hat you know. The Guardian’s Alexander Chancellor is here to tell you that it wasn’t geology what dunnit - it was global warming:
The Samoans’ community spirit and trust in each other are legendary, and they must also have trusted equally in the benevolence of the weather to build themselves houses without walls. The tsunami will have cruelly shattered that trust.
It was the weather wot dunnit.

Sting And Prince Charles Fight Climate Change With A Message In A Plastic Bottle
PRESS release of the day comes from our pals at Cake Group, and the talk is to Sting, Prince Charles and climate change:
Hi,
It’s a big day for rainforests!
Today Sting re-released his hit song Message in a Bottle to show his support for the Prince’s Rainforests Project’s new SOS campaign.
The campaign involves a major push to get as many people as possible to add their support by signing up at in the lead-up to the vital Copenhagen climate change talks in December.
Sting and Prince Charles… what do they have in common?
Well, Trudie Styler, Mrs Sting, makes an “occasional use of private aviation fuel” and says things like:
“Rainforests now cover only 6% of the earth’s land surface, and are still being decimated”, she explains. “There is a real and imminent danger of this destruction reaching the point of no return, yet still we ignore all the warning signs. For the sake of the indigenous communities who live in the forests and protect them, and for the sake of all humanity, it’s time for individuals, industries and governments to start putting the Earth first.”

James Delingpole On The Golly Hockey Stick Global Warming Lie
MAN-made global warming is a lie. A lie! James Delingpole has seen the light - and the hockey stick curve:
Those of you who saw An Inconvenient Truth may remember, if you weren’t asleep by that stage, the key scene where big green Al deploys his terrifying graph to show how totally screwed we all are by man-made global warming. This graph - known as the Hockey Stick Curve - purports to show rising global temperatures through the ages. In the part representing the late twentieth century it shoots up almost vertically. To emphasise his point that this is serious and that if we don’t act NOW we’re doomed, Al Gore - wearing a wry smile which says: “Sure folks, this is kinda funny. But don’t forget how serious it is too” - climbs on to a mini-lift in order to be able to reach the top of the chart. Cue consensual gasps from his parti pris audience.

The World’s First Climate Change Refugees
CLIMATE change, aka global warming, is hitting Africa hard, What used to be called weather is now a sure sign of impending doom. Richard North reports:
“Climate change is here, it is a reality”, reports John Vidal. As one devastating drought follows another, the future is bleak for millions in east Africa, he writes.
Describing the pitiful scenes, he recounts how, after three years of disastrous rains, the families from the Borana tribe, who by custom travel thousands of miles a year in search of water and pasture, have unanimously decided to settle down.
Back in April, they packed up their pots, pans and meagre belongings, deserted their mud and thatch homes at Bute and set off on their last trek, to Yaeblo, a village of near-destitute charcoal makers that has sprung up on the side of a dirt road near Moyale.
Now they live in temporary “benders” – shelters made from branches covered with plastic sheeting. They look like survivors from an earthquake or a flood, says Vidal, but in fact these are some of the world’s first climate-change refugees.
