MI5 Fight To Keep Abu Qatada In UK As Tory MP Foments Fear
“THOUSANDS of fanatics in Britain are planning a series of massacres, it was claimed last night,” writes the Star.
The news from an MI5 leaked paper is chilling:
“It [the UK] will face a threat from British nationals, including Muslim converts, and UK-based foreign terrorists, as well as terrorists planning attacks from abroad.”
The Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre is on the case. As is Tory MP Patrick Mercer who opines:
“The fact that we have not been attacked for over two years should not be taken by anyone as evidence that the threat has gone away, in fact it is just the contrary.”
Mercer seems to be saying that not being attacked is no sign of British success nor is it a sing of a toothless enemy. And he forgets that we have been attacked, namely by a “lyrical terrorist”, a Giraffe bomber and the meds who tried to create a new departure gate at Glasgow Airport.
And then readers learn, via the Sun, that “hate preacher” Abu Qatada was planning to breach his bail conditions and flee the country for Lebanon. Yeah, we stopped him. The UK has such a shortage of Islamic nutters, we hang on to what we’ve got. Let’s not have another Bakri!
Of course, Bakri might have tipped off the authorities off. Bakri is our nutter in Lebanon. There is no room for two nutters is that town.
But we should not take any of this to mean that we are winning the War On Terror?
We can’t be winning – not while the likes of Mercer and the Daily Star continue to foment fear and anxiety…

Would Abu Qatada get assistance from UK intelligence services again, in case he would like to disappear ? After all, British intelligence offered him shelter in the past using their safe houses…..

Also you could wonder why supposed ”European Al Qaeda Leaders” are restricted by measures such as control orders, while others are put in jail for years for terrorism. Does the British government really expect that presumed Al Qaeda leaders will respect the conditions of control orders ?
What’s the exact connection between Qatada and British intelligence services ?

Personally I don’t think it’s possible to form a new party that would attract enough voters to get it into power.
*******************
I propose a different way foward. An elected party of individual representatives to do the bidding (carry out voters wishes)
An internet vote on every single piece of proposed legislation.
(ie) a majority vote on every single decision
It would mean ensuring everyone has access to the internet through whatever means. It would also ensure that only those affected by the decisions would have the motivation to vote, thereby ensuring you have the wishes of the majority.
One man one woman one child one vote!
I am sure it could work but it would mean the gravy train being derailed

Personally I don’t think it’s possible to form a new party that would attract enough voters to get it into power. That wouldn’t be the prblem of the party but the eloctorate. We don’t seem to be able to agree with one another anymore. The Uk is so divided in so many different ways that it’s impossible to change. It sounds quite simple to say lets start a new thing and get everyone to vote for us but in reality people here think their opinion is more important or correct than anyone elses that it leads to quarrels and complications that just don’t seem to be able to be sorted out anymore. The country isn’t british anymore even though people think it is. It’s gone far beyond that and I don’t think it will ever come back. It’s just a tiny island with now so many different views, cultures and religions that it will never be able to have a common ground. I’m afraid to say it but I think it’s too late to save us…

Hi Chenier,
My own view of politics in the UK is that it is failing the people at local and national government. Labour, the Conservatives and the Liberal party have been for many years rammed in the publics face at election time and, I strongly believe that a major clearout of the political arena is urgently needed. In recent times we’ve had the huge exposure of the mirage of the banking system instead of a solid foundation that had suck-in the faith, trust, and money of the public.
Politics is mirroring the banks, in terms of credibility and confidence.Under all the talk and smiles its rotten to the core.
If Britain is to gain strength and integrity to massively boost standards it has to wake up to the fact that its a country in serious decline, not only economically but morally.
Incompetence is commonplace and there needs to be accountabilty as an essential part of new laws in the UK. No exceptions.
At the moment, people in power are doing what they want when they want and getting away with it.
PC is something that needs to be given the boot. Britain’s lived generations without it and, freedom of speech should be the accepted normal. PC attitudes have been the biggest mugger of speech that’s been forced on the UK population.
Finding people who believe that Britain needs to change and have a new beginning shouldn’t be too difficult. There are droves of disillusioned people out there who WANT change. They want to live in a country that’s safe and its leaders respected.
The UK has some of the best universities in the world(17 in the top ranked 100) and only huge financial reserves(billions for Harvard/Yale) help to keep them at No. 1 and No.2 in the.world rankings.
The last ten years has seen New labour lead a country that’s failing many of its children, had record immigration, soaring crime, declining health care, record drug taking, huge personal debt, and a housing market where loonie prices were being paid for third-rate properties. Standards too often have gone out the window and good examples few to be seen.
If could just be that a NEW political party might have to be formed and for that party to promote its policies clearly to attract membership and build its influence .
The BNP is constantly shouted down in the media and the UKIP has some Brits who believe in it as a party, but neither, may ever hold the reins of power although the BNP appears to be attracting voters who feel that the Britain of today is one where foreigners are often pampered and the native population taken for mugs. Controls need to be put on local governments and make them much more accountable to the public in terms of their finances, the law and improving the quality of services.
Chenier the problems now in the UK will need a massive change but all things are possible for those who believe and are prepared to take action to get results.
I’ll pop over to your place on Friday night and we can get things started…………..

Afternoon, Lone!
And John, it’s a nice rant, but do you have any policies to put in their place? Not to mention some politicians to go along with the policies?

Terrorists in the UK will continue to be a threat we are told. Well, it was Tony Blair who made the decision to send British military to Iraq and Afghanistan. The Attorney General said it was legal although the vast majority of English people did NOT support military action. Blair denied his action has increased home-grown terrorism but of course is did, and Blair found it easier to lie rather than admit an obvious truth.
Multi-cultrual Britain and its numerous religions will always have its share of extremists and loud mouthed nutters and very few have been deported because of THEIR human rights etc. Politicians talk big and then sit back and do nothing.
The USA spent 20 BILLION on the CIA/ FBI and yet it failed totally to prevent a major attack on American soil. Will Britain do any better? The UK ( a democracy) has over 1,200 laws that allow the government to enter a home. Freedoms are being constantly eroded by British governments and if they want to give democracy to OTHER countries , well, its a bloody good idea to try to stop eroding freedoms, and contempt for the electorate by the system BACK in the UK.
Gordon Brown and his gang should be removed at the first opportunity.Britain badly needs a NEW beginning and real leadership. Democracy not a pathetic and rotten hypocrisy.

It would presumable be too much to hope that Mercer could crawl out from under his bed, but surely there must be hope for the Star?
We could put in a story about thousands of orgies being planned across the country in honour of the more cheerful members of those we remember at 11am on 11th November…
