Climate Gate: Politicians Investigate CRU’s Emails And The BBC Sat On The Story
FILES hacked from the University of East Anglia’s Climatic Research Unit (CRU) - see them here - seem to indicate an Orwellian pact between scientists to settle the scientific debate on man-made global warming.
The Washington Post sees “an intellectual circle that appears to feel very much under attack, and eager to punish its enemies”. Says Al Gorean George Monibot:
It’s no use pretending this isn’t a major blow. The emails extracted by a hacker from the climatic research unit at the University of East Anglia could scarcely be more damaging. I am now convinced that they are genuine, and I’m dismayed and deeply shaken by them.
Monibot has seen the eviedence and reached a conclusions.

THE family of Jean Charles de Menezes are in line to receive a pay out. The Mail says that while former Metropolitan police leader Sir Ian Blair scored £400,000 pay-off, and a book deal, Mr de Menezes’s family are to get “as low as” £100,000” for their relative being shot in the head by police at Stockwell tube station.
Anorak reader Yampster says:

Newspaper Correction Of The Year: The New Jersey Rabbis
THOSE New Jersey rabbis who laundered money and aold body parts to before politcos - well, it’s wrong: The New York Times was almost right:
“An article on Oct. 25 about the recent governor’s race in New Jersey misidentified the illegal activity that some Sephardic rabbis had been accused of and that the article characterized as part of the state’s infamous corruption. The rabbis were charged with money laundering, not with selling body parts and then using the money to bribe politicians. (There was a Brooklyn man accused of conspiring to broker the sale of a kidney, and several New Jersey politicians accused of corruption, all of whom were arrested the same day as the rabbis.)”
Not too bad an effort at reporting from the world’s biggerst newspaper brand…

Global Warming And BBC Bias With Richard Black And Ariel Magazine
CLIVE Davis spots an article by the BBC’s environment correspondent, Richard Black - read it here - in which he talks of the notion that the BBC is biased on climate change reporting.
Ask yourself this: when was the last time you saw a BBC report that questioned the science that says man-made global warming is going to cause untold devastation?
The BBC has two editorial golden rules: global warming is real and whatever happens in Israel must be the lead news story.
As Davis says: “His reflections on the aftermath - published in the house magazine, Ariel - don’t seem to be online.

Daily Mail And Tax Payers’ Alliance Attacks BBC Over Its Free Trees For A Better Planet
THE Daily Mail is no fan of the BBC and free trees. The BBC is full of guff - only this morning it gave us two climate change stories:
1. “BBC2, 7pm Wed 25 Nov: Can Obama Save the Planet?“, presented by Justin Rowlatt.
2. A story in which we learnt - with no facts - that Australian bush fires are arriving earlier than ever and are more intense, and that Australia is sometimes called - get this - “the Saudi Arabia of coal“.
MacGuffin notices that its “latest pathetic assault on the BBC comes in a story about trees”. He has more:
BBC under fire for Autumnwatch tree giveaway costing licence fee payers £150,000 reveals:
The Beeb is handing out 300,000 free trees at a thousand different garden centres, nurseries and DIY stores nationwide.
Each sapling has cost the corporation 32 pence - £96,000 in total

The Secret To A Happy Marriage Is Fear, Animals And A Hairy Back
A REPORT in the Journal of Police and Criminal Psychology says the recipe for a stable home life is to marry an agricultural engineer, optometrists, dentists, a member of the clergy or a podiatrist.
They stay with their partners longest because they are, in order: living on a remote farm with no livestock; spending time with the elderly; depressed; fearful of being watched and judged; and only ever see feet.
If you want volatility marry a dancer, choreographers, bartenders, massage therapist, or telephone operator. Phone operators make unreliable lovers – for them, the thrill is in being engaged. Geddit?!

Polar Bears Commit Suicide In New Cinema Advert
POLAR Bear Watch: Anorak’s at-a-glance look at polar bears in the news: Polar bears are falling from the skies and being used to illustrate how climate change activism is based on bad science.
In the Mail, Christopher Booker asks:
Are we making the most expensive mistake in history?
On the Government’s own figures, the Climate Change Act is going to cost Britain £18 billion a year - that’s £720 for every household in the country - every year from now until 2050.
Of course, the thing about global warming is that even if it is not happening now, it might happen in the future. The irony is that what Booker calls a “colossal scare story” should feature in the Mail, home to scare stories.
But we should be afraid because Plane Stupid has filmed polar bears falling from the skies – without parachutes!

Fiona MacKeown’s Benefits Fraud Linked To Daughter Scarlett’s Rape And Murder
FIONA MacKeown has been charged with benefit fraud. When Fiona MacKeown’s daughter Scarlett Keeling was raped and murdered in Goa, the voracious media examined the mother.
The Mail’s writers queued up to suggest that Keating’s lifestyle was in some way complicit in her daughter’s death:
“Sorry, but I blame Scarlett’s mother,” said Allison Pearson on the Mail’s front page.
Keith Waterhouse gave us:
A family of eight, living entirely on benefit allowances, managed to get as far as Goa for an extended holiday, where one of their number was murdered.
In his – oh, the irony – eponymous column, the Sun’s Jon Gaunt whined:
“Let’s not beat about the bush, Fiona MacKeown is an irresponsible mother… Fiona is typical of the kind of mother who wants everything and sees her kids as an inconvenience that can be palmed off at any excuse – she’s a clear example of the ME, ME, ME generation.”
Fiona MacKeown was not dumb and feckless. She was self-aware:
“I have nine children which makes you strong and there has been a lot to do. When I have nothing to do but think - it’s very hard. She really fought for her life and I think about that all the time.”
How does she feel about all the criticism of her for leaving Scarlett?
“I’m not surprised, really. Look at what’s been said about Madeleine McCann’s mother, and she is the picture of elegance.”
