Gay-Bashing Westboro Church Sings God Hates The World (Video)
THE gay-bashing Westboro Baptist Church has found a novel way of pissing off America.
Not content with picketing soldiers’ funerals with banners claiming their deaths are god’s punishment for tolerating homosexuality, they have taken one of the most goodhearted song of the past generation and given it an evil twist.
“God Hates The World” is a parody of the song “We Are The World” that raised about $50 million for famine relief in the 1980s. In the new version, Westboro Baptist congregants cheerfully sing about the world’s sins and mankind’s impending doom:
“God hates the world and all her people, you, every one, face a fiery day for your proud sinning. It’s too late to change His mind, you lived out your vain lives, storing up God’s wrath for all eternity.”
Needless to say, Warner/Chappel Music, which holds the rights to the song, has written to the Church threatening legal action. But the Church has countered that the song is a parody and is protected under First Amendment rights of freedom of speech and religious expression.
Shirley Phelps-Roper, church attorney and daughter of Wesboro pastor, the Rev. Fred Phelps Sr., told BusinessWeek, “It’s all our effort to deliver a faithful message to this generation.”
Meanwhile, church members are planning a protest appearance at the funeral of the Rev. Jerry Falwell, the evangelical pastor who died a couple of days ago.
“WBC will preach at the memorial service of the corpulent false prophet Jerry Falwell, who spent his entire life prophesying lies and false doctrines like ‘God loves everyone,’” says a message on the church’s website godhatesamerica.com.
“Falwell warmly praised Christ-rejecting Jews, pedophile-condoning Catholics, money-grubbing compromisers, practicing fags like Mel White, and backsliders like Billy Graham and Robert Schuler, etc.”
Weekly services at the church in Topeka, Kansas, must be a blast.

Honestly these people are just plain stupid. U never judge anybody by who they are. I am out and proud. I love my life and everything about it. But most of all I love God and i know he loves me to. Its sad to see that these people have nothing else to do with their lives but to worry about everybody elses…

WTF?!! only in America - land of the free?! I’m BI! so where the f*** does that leave me/ 50/50?
And to think those hicks masquerading as church going citizens, look relatively normal!!
I can tell y’all this much; I’m betting each and every one of em, has gay/lesbian tendencies, but is sooo scared to come out of the closet, they would rather spout ridiculous descriminatory cack about other gays and lesbians… You forget the most important thing… GOD made us all, whether we are black, white, straight or gay, Scientologist, Catholic or Christian… so do yourself a fat favour, Admit you are wrong and maybe, just maybe, God will save you too!!

I just think it’s sad that they think this is so funny.. I don’t think any one of them really know why they’re so pissed off. And if they really believed in what they’re doing, I don’t see why they’d be making parodies of songs and laughing through them while they sing. I think they enjoy the attention more than anything- the attention and feeling superior. Sometimes it feels good to tell people off… I just wish they’d be normal and not do it at funerals…
Who I really feel bad for are those poor children… They’re going to be mad their whole lives and never really know why. They’re never going to have friends or be happy or love life and they’re probably going to think that’s okay..
Maybe I could accept that church if they really seemed like they were working toward a cause that they believe in… All it seems like to me is that they’re really repressed and they have a lot of misdirected anger.

Hi, I’m straight and been a born-again Christian for over 20 years. The Westboro Church are totally out of order on this issue. I’m not liberal or ‘water down’ what the Bible says either. God does not ‘hate’ gays–the Bible says in the Old Testament (Leviticus chapter 18:22, NIV) that homosexuality is ‘detestable’ to Him: ‘Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman: that is detestable’. However, before any over-zealous gay bashers take this to mean that God hates gays, look what the New Testament says in 1 Corinthians chapter 6:9-11:
“Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor HOMOSEXUAL offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. AND THAT IS WHAT SOME OF YOU WERE. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God”. (Capitals mine for emphasis).
What Paul is saying here is that some of the new converts to Christ had a homosexual past, but when they believed the Gospel (Good News about Jesus) they were cleansed and forgiven of their sin, because that is the message of the Cross. Now my point is, if God ‘hated’ homosexuals, why should be accept the ones who asked for forgiveness through His Son’s sacrifice on the Cross?
As Christians, we are meant to be God’s ambassadeurs into the world, and if we’re seen with anti-gay placards etc, how will this reach people with the love of God? I tell you the truth, God will not be impressed by this anti-gay trend. Neither would Jesus.
A woman caught in adultery in the time of Jesus was brought into His presence by a mob. They wanted to test Him. They had decided that an adulterous woman should be stoned to death. They pressed Him for answers. He simply said to them, ‘Let him without sin throw the first stone’. At this, the crowd walked away, from the eldest to the youngest. They were convicted of their sin. When Jesus was left with the woman, he told her that he was not going to condemn her, but told her to leave her life of sin.
Best to judge ourselves first. It would be better for Westboro church to reach out to gays and demonstrate God’s love by their actions. No, not to accept the homosexual lifestyle, but look beyond that and see them as people for whom Christ died on the Cross. From what I’ve heard many gays do not have happy pasts, such as being abused etc, and they need compassion more than hate.
So yes, I’d rebuke the pastor and Westboro church for their actions. Any gays reading this I apologise to you. You deserve better treatment. Don’t turn your back on God because of a minority. He can help you if you simply ask Him.
Apologies if this has sounded like a sermon, but I was so incensed when I read the article I had to put the record straight from the Bible’s point of view (God’s written Word) and Christians throughout the world.
God bless you
Phil
