Madeleine McCann: DNA, Robert Murat And Paedos
“MADELEINE: NEW DNA CLUE TO KIDNAP.”
Odd indeed that amid all the public spectacle and voyeurism there is front-page news of the criminal case.
The Express says: “Detectives believe that they have found the DNA of Madeleine McCann’s kidnapper.”
Now DNA, modern policing’s smoking gun and bloodstained overalls, has been located at the crime scene the villain can be brought to justice. And, maybe, Madeleine will be found.
Suspect Evidence
DNA belonging to six people was found at the McCanns’ apartment. There are five McCanns. A Portuguese police source says: “There is a new suspect. This could be vital evidence in the search for Madeleine.”
But who is this sixth person?
The Express says it is a stranger. And they really do mean a stranger. The DNA sample does not belong to Robert Murat, suspect number one, the only suspect. A spokesman for Murat says he “welcomed” the new evidence. Tuck Price says his client is “anxiously awaiting the chance to rebuild his reputation”.
But Murat cannot go just yet. The Express says he has been warned he could still face charges over pornography found on his computer. Mud sticks. And in itself the DNA proves nothing.
So who is the sixth person? This is a vital clue. Right? A source at the Instituto Nacional de Medicina Legal laboratory in Coimbra says: “It is an important step in the investigation but the truth is that the DNA cannot be matched with any records. The evidence is very vague.”
So the police have DNA but no idea what to do with it. Indeed, the only people who could be cleared by this apparent breakthrough are Robert Murat and Russian “geek” Sergey Malinka, who has been questioned by Portuguese police.
The Express says the “best hope” is to pass it over to British police. As the Express notes, the UK has the world’s largest DNA database, “which includes the records of known paedophiles and anyone convicted of a sex crime.”
It also features the DNA of people who spit on buses. It is very thorough.
Meanwhile, the papers are focusing on the McCanns latest press conference.
Speculation And Paedos
Gerry McCann says: “We pray that she is being looked after and it is someone who wanted a little girl for their own who would look after her very well.
“We also pray that the person who has her gives her up voluntarily and drops her at a church or a safe place.”
Right they should keep the public focus on the story. And appeal for help.
But why should a journalist ask the McCanns if they think Madeleine has been kidnapped by a paedophile? Why does Getty McCann feel obliged to say: “It is a more upsetting scenario than any other. We have considered all scenarios as everyone has”?
What do we learn from that? The evidence is being gathered but the speculation remains rife. And we are watching the parents…

That is the Express. Read the Mail for an interview with Murat that is completely different.
Aaahh, the beauty of the tabloid press. Truth comes a poor second to a good headline! I’ve read four different takes on the ‘news’ this morning already……
All v. good for newspaper sales of course and and also for hits on the Anorak website.

This is a holiday chalet, hundreds of people have stayed there. DNA?
June 2nd, 2007 at 1:46 pm

June 2nd, 2007 at 1:48 pm
The Glasgow couple who stayed in the flat the week before the McCann’s say they have not been called to eliminate their dna from the inquiry.

I dont know why they dont go to North Africa!! Africa is the most obvious place, they stick by each other and will not help in any way. I hope she is’nt there because it will be so much more difficult to get anyone to speak out. Secondly why are the portugese authorities scared of using our highly trained dogs, they would help solve this in no time. Your reader is right, it is turning into a circus!!
June 2nd, 2007 at 6:45 pm
You find the DNA and then you ahve to find the person it matches… The plot thickens
June 2nd, 2007 at 6:55 pm
G Beal - there’d be no trace for any sniffer dogs to find now.
Tiff - I don’t think you’re appealing in the right place pet.
DNA? DNA? Like someone else pointed out, it is a sodding holiday apartment. Cleaners, maintenance men, previous guests, maybe a porter, another child from the McCant’s party of friends, etc etc. Considering DNA traces can be found in sweat, hair, bodily fluids etc. then it could’ve come from anywhere!
June 2nd, 2007 at 10:51 pm
Pah! it seems as if real progress has been made, and as Anti-Idiot rightly says, it could have been cleaners etc, so the police are no more forward…

This is a perfect time to take a look at what sort of a society we want to live in and what we are willing, and most importantly what we are not willing to tolerate from mankind. What I mean by that is, for those who commit a crime that results in the death of a child (I pray to God that doesn’t happen this case), we should hand down the harshest of punishment to the perpetrator(s) and rid this world of them. The death of an innocent child should not be tolerated by anyone and anyone who commits this act should never be allowed to be a part of society. There should never be second chances (unless you believe in reincarnation) as there will never be one for the child.

guess ur writers are possibly a tad vague, the DNA is crucial to finding little Madeleine and bringing her home. So please let the experts continue to do their work , without negative critisism, ps note to ones self ! “remind me not to read any more agitating articles on this web page”.

Love,
I could not agree with you more. Thank you.

Child trafficking rings may prefer Portugal because there is no ‘DNA DATABASE.’ The Portugese people need to rally as well as the rest of the world about counties that are not maintaining a system. SECONDLY, Portugal & the UK should not just ask Spain to do a MATCH on the mystery DNA but request the rest of Europe too Eg. Netherlands, Germany (recently a child trafficking ring was busted there) & Africa (if they don’t have a dna database) then create a global treaty of well know pedophiles and child traffickers & a passport check can be done if they were in or transiting through the country. Even the Middle East, especially Morroco because Madeleine may have been transiting though there to elsewhere.
June 3rd, 2007 at 6:42 am
Yes, yes, yes….Maria where did you come from? Thank you!!!!!
June 3rd, 2007 at 8:59 am
The DNA could have come from anyone. This seems a little bit farfetched.
I sometimes really wonder about the investigation methods of the police.
Could anyone confirm if the police checked registered mobilephones. Assume that the suspect had a mobile phone which was registered by the local net through standby mode. After the abduction the suspect is gone the mobile registration wouldn’t repeat locally. So if the police checked which mobiles were gone after the abduction but were there before they could probably generate a list of possible suspects. Maybe that list would be far to long and exhaustive for the police to go through (?) but with all this attention and all these resources wouldnt that be an option.
June 3rd, 2007 at 9:50 am
Everybody stop coming on here and complaining it won’t do anything if you spot something unusual like madeleine mccann at your local chippy then yeah feel free to tell the police write all about it in your blog and on here. So don’t complain telling them they can’t do there job they might come and criticize your job. If it’s DNA it’s DNA it could be the suspect but at least their getting somewhere. But one thing lets just hope they find Madeleine McCann if they do she’ll be a living legend. [?]

A retired expert in child abduction spoke on Breakfast news last week, BBC. He said that most important requirement of the Police at this stage is a thorough search of every house in the area. He could not understand why this has not been done already. Like most crimes they are often committed by somebody in the local area!!! He felt that IF there was somebody hiding her, then some evidence might be flushed out!!!! It would make any guilty person very uneasy and perhaps new leads may occur! It has to be either somebody who knows the family, somebody working at the hotel or somebody in the local area!

Why hasn’t the police followed up on the lead in Morocco? Read how Morocco makes it easy for people to traffic humans through their country. These are one of the places that needs to get with the rest of the civilized world….

I wonder whether this has anything to do with pushing forward a worldwide chipping agenda..By inflicting fear into people’s minds..
They create a problem the kinapping of Madeleine McCann..They guage the people’s reaction which is complete horror..from which the people will offer up a solution which will be id chips a worldwide dna database..that is maybe why there is such a big thing concerning the whole dna evidence that we are seeing acted out now..it will be interesting to see how this all pans out
June 3rd, 2007 at 6:29 pm
Jan, I don’t think Police can forcibly enter another country, they can only negotiate.
We aren’t too civilised here in the UK , how many children are missing here?
June 3rd, 2007 at 7:45 pm
Hi Jan I am from Vancouver Canada. I have been following along with this story because for the last 2 years I have been researching everything on human trafficking. I was in complete shock after I watched a documentary on TV a couple years ago. I then decided I was going to be a part of the ‘global change’ not allowing this stuff to happen. But we can only go forward if we really become vocal about it to our political leaders & newspapers & more of course. These traffickers go to jail once caught & get out a few years later and do the same old thing because the large sum of MONEY they are making. They are not reformed, how do we reform them is a good question? There was a notorious child trafficker who got out of jail in March in Portugal who trafficked 50 children (that they know of, maybe hundreds) who got out of jail just before Yeremi & Madeleine where snatched. This year in Cambodia the have arrested 8 foreigners who were with children, one was a German tourist who had bondage equipment. We must help!!! We have to get the countries to great global treaties & a larger DNA database. It’s sad the world rarely hears about the DAILY child ABDUCTIONS in some poor countries! Eg. India (daily), africa etc.
This is not an isolated case regarding Madeleine, the is apart of the symtom that we have been ignoring for DECADES or HUMAN HISTORY. Let’s change it!!
June 3rd, 2007 at 8:11 pm
I think the trafficking rings are harder to break because of the money it gernerates than a single person operating on their own.
I have been sponsoring a childcare program in Nepal for the last couple of years these kids are vulnerable when they are from poor families & trafficking is rampant there.
But there are MANY poor countries where children are homeless and they disappear.

Maria,
I’ve been doing my own research on these beasts. I’d love to get more involved. I’m in the US, not far from DC. I read about the beast from Ca found in Cambodia 2 years ago. I also recently read about one who’s been wanted by the FBI for years who had a child friendly house and baby sat for his neighbors….unbelievable. I’m glad they’re being caught but furious that they are not put away for life.
How can I help?
June 3rd, 2007 at 11:21 pm
Anonymous,
That’s why the UN needs to set the guidelines. There are taskforces set up in other countries. Cambodia has one and they notified the US. The perp was held in Cambodia and flown to the US and charged rape and soliciting sex from minor ages 10-13.
The bif problem is that the laws are not strickt enough. That 50 year old perp got 30 years. He’ll probably be out in 10-15. Still young enough to do it again. Next time maybe even worse. He has a phony passport that worked for him. He also said he didn’t regret what he did…”at least I didn’t kill them”. Sick!
Splinter,
There should be a world DNA database for baby rapers.
June 4th, 2007 at 1:32 am
Yes a database for baby rapers..lets not all get raped by the system..Id like a peaceful world for my children to grow up in..not a controlled fascist state..Madeleine will be found
June 4th, 2007 at 7:54 am
Excellent comments by all of you. I don’t know that I can toss in much that has not already been said. Except to you Maria, I would also like to get more involved now, on the level you are. I have been idle too long, and I want to contribute to making a difference in whatever way I can. Where should I start? I mean apart from what I have been doing to help with Madeleine’s safe return. I also report online abuse to the proper places. But at the provincial and federal government level, what can be done? And what can I do? I’m in Winnipeg btw.
This is a refreshing change from some of the bashing sessions I have been reading on other news forums. Great commentary.

Once a person is a known child abuser, then there should be no excuse not to put these vermin to death. Do this planet a favour and get rid orf the scum!

My earlier Post of 18th May. Robert Murat left Portugal for a few days The Mirror 16th May. London-born Murat also repeatedly went in and out of the family’s holiday apartment, potentially contaminating the crime scene. He helped co-ordinate initial searches and within 24 hours of Madeleine’s disappearance had told locals she was wearing pink pyjamas.Days later, Murat is believed to have returned to the UK to visit his former wife Dawn and their daughter Sofia in Norfolk. Have the police checked Robert Murat’s travel details when he travelled out of Portugal for a few days including if he had anyone travelling with him, the possibility of a child similar to his daughter and being treated as his daughter. Could he have taken Madeline with him as his daughter if she is so like his daughter he could have got through the passport check with the child being treated as his own if his daughter is on his passport. It is a possibility. Are we sure that he went directly to England. Surely his travel details should be checked.
This reminds me of the 11 yr old Robert Houlihan from Middleton in Cork when the killer Wayne O’Donoghue helped in the search, visited Robert’s house and assured Roberts mother that he would be found. He only confessed when Roberts phone was traced and his body was found.
In relation to Sergey Malinka IF this is the same guy,(based in Portugal! then it appears he has access to sea vessels: Heaven sent gave details re Island Expeditions. http:///www.corlettmaritima.com See Malinka’s name and telephone no 00351 914168557 on Contacts on this site.
They bring groups on Expeditions from Gibralter to remote islands off the east coast of Africa in a ship originally named “Seahawk Remamed “Naomi Corlett” in 2000.
Mirror 18th May. He was also linked to a business in Lagos offering boat trips in the Mediterranean and to North Africa.
If I were the McCanns I would have a private detective travel on that ship and to the islands that it visits.
Mirror 17th May Local reports claim Malinka disappeared from Praia da Luz at about the time Madeleine was plucked from her holiday apartment. Malinka is the third friend of Murat to be interrogated. Murat’s German girlfriend Michaela Walczuch and her Portuguese husband Luis Antonio were held.
It is strange if Malinka had nothing to hide why were his computer hard drives wiped clean when the police took it? I would be at a loss if I wiped mine clean.
Why were he and Murat in contact by phone at 11.30 PM the night Madeline went missing if they were only business contacts?
Where did Murat go when he hired the car , he could have had Madeline in the boot or God forbid her body for disposal similar to Huntley and Wayne O’Donoghue.
If these people are innocent forgive me for all the speculation but every suspicion has to be eliminated.
So concerned for Madeline and her parents.

Hi Kate & everyone,
If you want to get involved on a small level, there is a program for preschool children which costs what a ‘latte’ would cost $3.50 per month. While the parents are trying to make a living & have no money to send their child to any childcare facility or babysitter, at least they are at school. Trafficking is high in this area. The website is http://www.tibetaid.org click project, then kindergarden.
I think funding schools, orphanages & womens groups, educating adult males & females how to read & write(something we take for granted) and sponsoring a child to receive a good education. I have emailed the Canadian governement that we need to have ‘Literacy schools’ around the world in poor areas in every continent where adults don’t know how to read or write. I think adults who don’t know how to read or write end up just surviving, maybe farming if they are lucky for a time. Or they join a government military or militia & are easy to believe propaganda & see no other option than to join crime because they can’t get a job without know how to read or write.
I am looking for a another good program to contribute to in Africa & South America, please let me know it any of you know of any you could recommend.
Thanks Again
