Carol Thatcher Follows Jonathan Ross Out As BBC Purges Speech Impediments
THATCHER. Thatcher. Thatcher. Out! Out! Out! It’s Carol Thatcher being ousted from the BBC for using the world golliwog in a non-ironical fashion.
Carol, better known as Cawol, follows Jonathan Ross (Woss) down the BBC rubbish chute.
Says Cawol: “I’m complete baffled by the fuss.”
Anorak is outraged. Old Mr Anorak, our patron, is founder of the Respect Rhotacism Round Table (WWWT).
Says a spokesperson for the cause:
“It beggaws belief that in 21st centuwy Bwitain celebwities are still fighting pwejudice. Rhotacism is the last gweat taboo, and the BBW should hang its head in shame. We had hoped that the dawk days of laughing at the afflicted Elmer Fudd were no more. We stand cowwected.”
Anorak has contacted the BBC and solicited this advice from a spokesman:
“Round the ragged rock of radio and TV broadcasting, there is no place for ragged rascals to run around rambling on.”
What next for Thatcher and Ross is uncertain. But expect a campaign for increased understanding for gollirogs…

I hear Clarkson has been saying that O’Bama is “a two-eyed afro-american idiot”? Would the last white person to leave London please turn off the lights!

Hear hear, Black Bob!
We can start by getting rid of all those bloody descendants of Spanish fishermen, move on to repatriating the Wodens, progress to kicking out the Sigurd, despatch the Eshu and the Re, and then we can make a start on the bloody Normans. It will take a bit of time but we should have the British population down to around half a million in a couple of decades…

I agree Yampster, it is ageist and he’s completely wrong!!!
it’s an opinion, Blackbob and I challenge your assumption that right and left died with Thatcher and Kinnock - it’s hardly one big happy family these days, is it..?
thinking about it a little more, it doesn’t really matter where the BNP are politically - the point is that they can’t take it whereas they are oh so quick to dole it out themselves…

That’s a bit ageist, if you don’t mind me saying so

Extreme right? You’re really out of touch and take it you’re in your 50’s. Right and Left died with Thatcher and Kinnock, even then racial nationalists could hardly have been described as being supporters of international capitalism.
February 5th, 2009 at 11:29 am
nobody should make jokes about racial attacks, but maybe if the BNP themselves didn’t position themselves so far to the extreme right, their poor ickle feelings wouldn’t get hurt….
if you can’t take it, don’t dish it out…..

Jo Brand shouldn’t make jokes about racial attacks, in fact, a joke about her making a racial attack by putting dog shit through peoples letter-boxes because they may be members of a political party that claims to speak for many white people (exclusively).
If it’s just harmless fun, let’s see some old Bernard Manning clips on the BBC.

I think the lesson is - avoid Adrian Chiles like the plague - he’ll have you sacked, even though he’s worked with you for 3 years, because of one insensitive use of language.
February 4th, 2009 at 3:23 pm
so did I…. but I think referring to the Jo Brand incident as “incitement” is going a bit far - all these extremists are getting very precious these days; it’s almost like they’ve got something to be ashamed of…..

The origins of the word ‘golliwog’
http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/christopher_howse/blog/2009/02/04/golliwogs_have_a_godly_origin
I had one as a child…..

Private conversation being the crux of the matter, I suppose had she said it whilst on air it would be a different matter as she would then be an overpaid celeb.
But private conversations should be just that

BBC double standards
Why was it okay for Jo “fat boot” Brand to incite racial attacks against white BNP members on the Jonathan (BBC) Ross show?
Why do golliwogs wear baggy trousers?
Coz their knees grow.

I still have my original Beatles mug and bedspread circa 1963. And all their original albums… AND their autographs.. genuine autographs no less! And a never played edition of The White Album……….. some of the stuff has been around the world and back with me!
It’s time for me to enter therapy… One day it will be reported that a women has died after her attic collapsed and she was buried under a thick layer of memorabilia. Mr C&C, who would like to be minimalist, despairs of my hoarding!

Burn Her! Stone her! Make her say Sowwy!
We have most of the band too and the Beatles set but only repro. If your pension fails, have a look at what the genuine ones are going for on Ebay

I like Carol Thatcher but that is irrelevant to the fact that what was said was in private conversation. I find that quite scary…….. I understand she did apologise but I guess the sack-cloth and ashes are missing along with some public self-flagellation.
Adrian Chiles is getting up himself IMO. far too self-congratulatory for me. And Christine whaternames constant raucous laugh is the stuff of nightmares!
Yampster, in my over-full with crap attic, I have the set of Golly brooches and every ornament of them, mostly in a band?
February 4th, 2009 at 12:36 pm
Re-eading the BBC article. It seems that she is being sacked, not for what she said, but for her refusal to give an unqualified apology. I.E. Grovel for her job. The acorn does not fall far from the tree
February 4th, 2009 at 12:29 pm
It’s strange that she never came over as a fiery cross carrier when she was crowned queen of the jungle. I have instructed the current Mrs Y to destroy her collection of enamel brooches. I can only hope that I am in time to save my job
