I think you are being rather unforgiving about human nature. Charasmatic people will always attract admirers and so their temptations are increased, but so far as running a country, Rudy Guiliani has the leadership qualities and vision for his country.

It unfortunately seems that anybody attempting to take the reins of leadership is expected to be a chamaeleon and appeal to all extreme views in a complex society.

He is a sell-out to his Catholic faith by supporting abortion and even has the gaul to say that support also include late-term abortions. Despite what he says now he will not appoint the right SCOTUS judges because he does not believe it. If he can cheat on his wives in the public eye- someone he made a vow to God to love, honor and obey, I have little trust he will uphold his vow to protect and defend the Constitution if his personal self interest differs from it. If he will break his vows to God and a woman he said he loves, how much more to the 'average American' he does not know at all? Rudy is anti-2nd Amendment, pro open-border, pro amnesty, and pro war. He's a nut and definately not a Conservative Republican. If Huckabee or any other willingly joins Rudy should America be so unfortunate to have Rudy win the election then their own personal convictions are also for sale to the highest bidder.
