Lowering The Voting Age In Germany
“More than 40 German deputies on Tuesday proposed that the voting age be lowered to birth to give children a say in the country’s political future, the parliamentary press service said…They proposed that parents be allowed to vote for their offspring, until such time that the children felt they were ready to cast ballots themselves“.
At, say, 18..?

18?
The offspring dispatched her first letter to her MP when she was seven.
It would be unkind of me to enumerate the ways in which she felt his performance was not all that it might be, but if Germany has similar youngsters then I have no doubt that the deputies would rapidly reconsider their proposal after a few months of hands-on democracy in action …

That’s the second good idea the germans have had recently. I would love to have had a vote when I was a child. When the Hungarian’s were invaded by the Russians some 60 years ago, I wanted the UK to help them. Nobody helped them and I had no say antway until I was 25! I was 21 just after an election. When I voted for the first time I was 25 and voted with 18 yr olds!
The other good idea is passing a law to MAKE people accept wind turbines in the Baltic and the North Sea. This would be a great idea here. Silence the NIMBY’s who want to keep their view, but don’t realise that their new view is likely to be a nuclear power station. I don’t suppose they will want to go without TVs and washing machines!
