I agree with the other comments. These people are delusional, selfish and self-promoting by having the TV specials, etc. They are doing nothing for society other than having unprotected sex. What claim to fame is that anyway???
I keep thinking that if Michelle starts having some miscarriages, maybe her doctor will tell her she must stop if she hopes to actually raise some of those toddlers she has now. Otherwise, she is just adding to her own demise by continuing to spout out baby after baby well into her 40’s. It’s sad, sick, and a pathetic excuse to do this all on the “Christian” platform. They make sensible, realistic Christians look bad because are so far out from mainstream beliefs on having children. NO ONE should have that many kids.

I meant to say that when my mother was an adult, she was NOT emotionally close to her siblings after raising them. I just don’t agree to this life style!!
May 14th, 2008 at 6:27 pm
Just another on state aide. ……there is something wrong with these parents to have a total of 18 children. The kids are raising their parents kids. I totally don’t agree with that!! My mother helped raise her siblings as well back in the great depression and she resented not being able to be a child like some of the younger ones. They were emotional close when they became adults. I think these parents need to get their heads examined. If they want to be initmate, fine. But for goodness sakes, use birth control!! They are just another family similar to the Iowa McKaulley’s (sp?) who have eight or nine kids. Somehow this “tribe” reminds me of “modern” mennonites or mormons or whatever…..I know nothing of there beliefs or faith. Just plain weird to me!

The woman is one big uterus. I’m sure they get quite the compensation from the Discovery Channel. How else are we affording the televised vacation to Disney Land they took.
Stop already with the babies!
May 13th, 2008 at 8:22 am
I do not agree with the way Jim Bob and Michelle raise the kids with the buddy system I have watched all the TV shows
Michelle breast feeds the baby good job that’s great- after the baby is on a bottle or cup depending on age the child goes to a buddy then the buddy is responsible
For the raising of that child Michelle you and Jim Bob brought 17 kids in the world you and your husband jim Bob should raise them not your kids. your children are not your free babysitters
I saw the kids faces when Michelle told the world she was pregnant again they did not look to happy do you blame them mommy time has to be penciled in
This is not the way childhood should be penciled in this is so sad to think a child needs to pencil in mommy time

Congrats to Michelle! I think its wonderful to have such a large loving family. Best of luck!

Hello people,Mind your own bussiness!! The Duggars are a married couple, committed to each other and their Children. They raise them oh so well and there is a sense of community as well as respect for each other, they do not live beyond their means and Mr.Duggar works to support the family, has made excellent financial decisions that has kept the family 100% debt free, oweing no one and absolutely not on the wellfare system. The Children are well rounded, well educated, polite and respectful to each other and all around. How many people can say that they are debt free with so many children to take care of?It is their right and their choice so all you haters just BUTT OUT!!! Now as far as adoption goes, they are doing what is right for them and their family so if you have a problem…you go adopt and stop trying to run their lives!

These parents are crazy!! It’s like they belong to a cult or something. Sorry, but that is too creepy…

If she dies her legacy will live on in the love of her children. Our body will work as long as we take care of it. My Pastors wife had 12 and she is still going strong today her husband is the one with health issues. God will bless you if you remain faithful to him. Women with 1 child die or get sick and so on. We will all die one day. I home school my children and the older ones are a blessing to me and the family and the younger ones love their big sisters and brother. Mr. Duggar will never meet another woman as blessed as his wife so he’ll be okay. 5 or 18 it doesn’t matter if you love children they are all the same love always prevail. Always, love never fail.
May 13th, 2008 at 6:11 am
What will happen to the children if Mrs Duggar should pass away. I know, the hubby will take on another wife and start all over again. Seen this sort of thing happen before! Poor kids, allowing children to see births, how sick. If all goes well, children have enough to eat, enough clothing, etc. well, big families were the vogue last century and before that but the mother conked out early.
May 13th, 2008 at 5:41 am
I don’t know. As a mother of 5, I had no problems with raising my children. However,
give me 18 and I would go crazy. Wonder if Michelle has ever post-baby blues? No way could I ever handle that many children. Even if they do have free healthcare, what job does the husband have to feed all these children? I do believe they are very religious which is great. But do you really think this is normal for a woman to have this many children? I agree with those that her body will soon give out and then there will be major problems. All I can say is ‘Good luck to the Duggars’.

I am a homeschooling mother of 8 children. The Lord knows what he is doing no mistake is ever made by Him. Nothing happens that the Lord does not allow. The Lord builds the home not a man. Who are we to decide when enough is enough. My older children also help the littles with chores and getting them ready for outings. In turn the olders learn to be responsable and realize the world does not revolve around them as so many of todays teens feel. All my children receive one on one time and they all have a chance with sports or extra activities. So easy to judge others when your own life is a wreck.
May 13th, 2008 at 4:42 am
I think its a blessing to be able and willing to have so many children. Those of you who want to adopt go ahead that’s your choice. You have women on gov’t assistant having 10 to 12 children with the gov’t help. God bless them, the bible says be fruitful and multiply. Life is life and we will always have poor people, war, & destruction with us for as long as we live on this earth. Again I say God bless her she is my idol I wish my husband was like hers. I have 8 and will have as many more as God allows me to. You go girl. Be Blessed.
May 13th, 2008 at 4:06 am
There are plenty of children to adopt but you try to tell that to my friends (2 couples) wonderful people that have been waiting years going through the adoption process. One couple already has an adopted child and they started the process again 2 years ago and are going to have to wait till 2010 or longer. It is the Duggars choice to have as many babies as they want. We do live in America don’t we.

Folks… I live down the road from the Duggers. Fact. The cars the drive have dealer tags which mean. We do not pay any taxes on these cars. More than likely these vehicles are not even paid for by the duggers. Fact. Michelle assigns each big kid a smaller kid to take care of. (How does this make her mother of the year?) Fact Most items in the house are donated. True very true, including the baby grand piano. They want to live the simple life? Where is the garden there sure is not one in the back yard nor the front yard. The lawn mower, I saw one of the kids mowing the yard one day I bet he was all of 10 maybe on this big fancy heavy duty lawnmower (brush hog) No adult supervision around watching him as he is mowing the hills out in the front yard. Could have easily flipped over. I for one dont think that is good supervision do you?
Fact, Michelle leaves her kids at home and takes little baby to a local restaruant Market Place to have lunch with her friends. Plops out her breast to feed the child while others around her are eating. Yes a real nice sight.
They are taking hand outs left and right folks. Dont think for a minute the aren’t. I wonder how they have so many computers in their house for school? I dont think they bought all of them?
Everyone that thinks they are just living the easy life well your right. Let people donate to us that is pretty easy. I know they are not on welfare but just as well be living off of everyone.
It just makes me sick that people view the Duggars as modern day mom and pop’s of the year. They are not as lovely as you might think they are.

Remember it’s quality not quantity!
May 13th, 2008 at 2:54 am
Okay, they are free to do whatever they want. I cannot judge them.
But every piece of me is just muttering NO. NO. NO. NO. it’s WRONG.. WRONG!
Still. They made their choice, and I am pro-choice in all ways.

For those of you who don’t think it’s anyone’s business, well they are televising there family. And those of you who feel they aren’t harming anyone, did you read the stats on the amount of diapers they have disposed of? According to MSN that number is 90,00o! They are single handedly devastating the earth! For anyone thinking about having kids, well stop! This family already had them for you!
May 13th, 2008 at 2:39 am
stop having children!!!!!
May 13th, 2008 at 1:54 am
I find having this many children unfair to the older children. When do they have a chance to be kids. They are kids, not adults. Do they have a say wether they wish to
raise their younger siblings. I’m sorry, but if you as parents wish to have this many children, then you as parents should be the ones taking responsibility for them. If you cannot handle this many on your own, then stop. I saw the interview on tv when the announcement was made. What I found really disturbing was when they showed the schedule of “mommy time”. The kids actually have to be put into scheduled time slots to spend time with their own mom. I think that says it all.
May 13th, 2008 at 1:50 am
I agree with Saralarah…they do have good strong family values, something that is sorely lacking in today’s society…those kids are lucky because they are growing up with a mom and dad both in the home that are married…none of those kids were conceived out of wedlock and they are wanted…Now, I am a very liberal democrat, and I think it is a woman’s right to choose but in the case of the Duggars it isn’t even relevant..but if Michelle were to decide to have an abortion it is her legal right to do so. It will be nice to see that there are 20 kids in Arkansas that will not grow up confused about their ethnic heritage like so many other kids these days.
May 13th, 2008 at 1:41 am
For the persons that are writing like these people are taking food out of their mouths they need to watch the show on these people and realize they are NOT on public assistance and that they pay cash for everything they buy. Before you open up your mouth stop and get the facts first so you don’t look like anIDIOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
May 13th, 2008 at 1:39 am
It pains me to see that there are so many children waiting to be adopted. I understand the need/want to have a few of their own, but then after that, it’s enough–give other children a chance… if they love children that much.
May 13th, 2008 at 1:38 am
They need to look at devastating situation around the world and stop their hormones from making more kids and help the world with limited resources.
May 13th, 2008 at 1:29 am
Wear a condom! For God’s sakes! Don’t they have enough!?!
May 13th, 2008 at 1:11 am
I’ve read some horribly judgemental comments from ignorant people here and felt I had to add my two cents worth. It doesn’t matter to me who is financially supporting this family. What matters is they know the true meaning of the family unit. They worked hard together as a family to build their home; even the small ones helped. They are raising their children with family morals and values that so many others in society haven’t bothered to teach to their own children. They home school their children to keep them away from being contaminated by the heathens others are “raising”. I say hurray for the Duggars’. You can’t stop reproducing just because the world sucks. God made male and female to “go forth and multiply” and they sure are. I don’t see them using the older children as keepers of the younger ones. Don’t be so judgemental. It’s not your job, that job belongs to God! I think they are all beautiful, healthy, and well-adjusted. The world’s bad enough without you negative ninnies out there trying to make a situation that is positive and beautiful into something that is negative and ugly. Shame on you I say, and leave the Duggar’s alone.

Michelle,
This is jesus, no where in the bible did I or my father command you to treat your junk as a clown car. Knock it off my child.

The Duggars seem like good faith individuals who are not harming anyone. The parents would not have children if they couldn’t support them, and i am pretty most likely sure this family is not On Public assistant. If you can afford to have children, then have any many as you want. there are more prevalent issues in the world than to destroy someone’s happiness in their life. Her children are all blessings. At least this family can afford to take care of there children financial; instead of teenage pregnancies which is the real problem not the Duggars ; therefore, lay of the issues. Teenage pregnacies cost the state billions of dollars everyday, as a nation, we should try to create solutions to curb this problem, instead of bashing people, who are honest genuine people raising productive citizens. Teenage mothers don’t provide an adequate lifestyle for their young; most children most to teen mothers are high school dropouts, and troubled teeange and engage in criminal activity. God bless this family because they deserve the best.
May 13th, 2008 at 12:43 am
All I can say is that the parents seem like whacked out religous nuts and they are very selfish to put the other kids through birth after birth. Y dont you take care of the kids u have and shut down the baby factory for good!!! The quality of life for these kids sucks as far as I could tell by watching them on a TV special.
May 13th, 2008 at 12:42 am
That last kid is just going to walk right out! Her poor uterus. I think they had them too close together. My doc. said to wait 18 months for my body to heal after child birth. It’s amazing that with all those kids, they all seem healthy. No Down Syndrome, Autism, etc. That’s good. Happy and healthy, that’s all you can ask for.
