The One About The Rottweiler, The South African Boy And The Pit Bull

rottweiler_pet5 The One About The Rottweiler, The South African Boy And The Pit BullA TWO-year old, a pit bull dog and a Rottweiler are walking through Oakdean, south of Johannesburg.

No, it’s not a new challenge on I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! And if the boy had been drinking cherry cola and sweets all day, he would be a fearsome predator.

(ITV – if you’re reading this, call me, I’ve got some terrific ideas for the show.)

Young Tshepang Taeli is walking with his grandmother. The pit bull dog approaches. It attacks. It grabs hold. It does not let go.

Ricky Veludo approaches.

He fetches Blade, a Rottweiler.

Says Mr Veludo: “He fought the other dog to free the child. Blade is very protective.”

Blade wins, Pitt bull loses.

And Rottweilers are now man and boy’s best friend. So next time you see a Rottweiler, go up to it, cup its lovable gaping maw and say “Whosagoodboyden”.

If it bites your face off, it’s your own fault for not going equipped with a pit bull chew toy…

  1. 1 June Says:

Rotties are great…some of their owners are prats, but sh*t happens

  2. 2 Julie Says:

The toddler that was attacked by the pitbull and whose life was saved by the rottweiler is now a terrified little child, very hurt lying in hospital.

The pitbull that attacked was roaming the streets - numerous people rushed out of their houses to try and get him away from the little boy - the owner of the pitbull was looking on doing nothing to help! These people tried everything, punching the dog, kicking him but nothing worked - and all this at the risk of the pitbull turning on them!

Then Ricky Veludo fetched Blade and let him loose - it is only Blade that saved this little boy’s life, and the faith that Ricky Veludo had in his dog!

No, Rotties are certainly not a petting dog - you don’t roll around the lawn with them for a little cuddle!

And I certainy wouldn’t put my hand under a rotties chin for a big slobbery kiss.

Ask me, I owned one .. he was heavier than I was - by a good few slices of meat!

The reason I had him? For protection! Yes, he was my baby, I looked after him better than I would look after a piece of gold. But .. under NO circumstances was any child allowed near him … including my own! Anyone (including adults who thought they were brave never ventured very close to him) - they were warned not to, as if that dog sensed any form of threat to me - he would attack! The only time that my monster Rottie attacked was when my life was directly in danger - Baxter didn’t come off second best!

So let’s put the blame where the blame lies here - allowing an unsupervsed pit bull to be in the streets is your perfect recipe for disaster. The dog and owner should both be shot at dawn!

RIP Baxter my monster dog … you were one of the best dogs I ever owned!
And to Ricky and Blade … you both deserve a medal and a huge bone for Blade!

  3. 3 Garth Says:

As much as i like a ‘mans’ dog Im not really into dog fights. Cat fights are far more entertaining. Here’s Tasker…..

    What a lovely dog!

  5. 5 Pamela Says:

For future reference, although hopefully there will not ever be the need…pit bulls, rotts, staffies, etc. can often be convinced to release their hold by (yes, I’m serious) sticking your thumb into their anus. Don’t waste your time pulling or trying to beat one of these dogs off what they have in their jaws, someones life could depend on your willingness to be brave.

  6. 6 Nic Says:

Yip Pam, thats a true one, webought a bull terrier puppy once that turned out to be line bred for fighting. he tryed to kill any dog that moved near him. that was the only way to make him let go. Could kick and hit him with anything, the thumb trick worked every time.

And yes it did save my brothers leg once when a doberman attacked him and wouldnt let go. One to remember. It literally hits a nerve with the dog, but beware as they will swing round super fast on you when you do it. be ready to move fast or have someone grab them.
