Little Shop Of Stolen Goods

An infamous shop sign blamed for blighting a town has been painted over to clean up its deprived image. It read “Rhyl’s biggest receiver of stolen goods” and has been the source of many complaints in the Denbighshire seaside resort.

The sign above the derelict building on the corner of Aquarium Street and Abbey Street had been in place for decades. But the MP and other local politicians have had enough and banished its negative tones with a coat of paint.

The Ferret Runs Out

Richard Blaylock, a great grandfather who has spent over half his life in prison, left Durham jail last week vowing never to return.

He said: “It’s getting harder and harder for criminals, with all the CCTV cameras and DNA evidence. It’s a mugs’ game. I’ll never get into trouble again.”

When Blaylock did his first stint behind bars, in 1950, two fellow inmates were hanged for murder.

These days he said the law has swung far more in favour of criminals, but getting away with crime is harder and harder.

His latest spell inside came after he was jailed in August for three months after being caught in the early hours carrying a bag loaded with a crowbar, two screwdrivers, a chisel, a butane gas burner, a torch, a magnifying glass and gloves. He admitted going equipped for burglary claiming he had wanted to steal some planks to build a ferret run.

Ratted out…
