Train Robber Hands His Contact Details To Victim
TO St Albans Crown Court where Eneas Tanyongana is accused of robbing a 16-year-old of his mobile on a train between Rye House and Ware stations on March 16.
It is alleged that Tanyongana did threaten to stab him if he didn’t hand it over.
Says Det Con Jon Pine:
“The boy was obviously very scared and handed over the phone without argument.
“When the boy asked what he was supposed to do without a phone, Tanyongana decided to hand over his own phone, complete with contact details and photos.”
Police used the information to trace 21-year-old Tanyongana, of Risdens, Harlow.
Adds DC Pine:
“It was a combination of Tanyongana’s own stupidity and good police work that led to him being arrested just hours after the offence.”
Tanyongana is sentenced received a six-month suspended sentence.

6 months ’suspended’ sentence for threatening to stab someone ?
Not even a fine. Net effect on the offender. NIL.
They come out of court saying ” I got away with a suspended sentence”. Got away with it. I have heard them say it when talking to them after the hearing.
The suspended sentence experiment was possibly a noble one, but it failed, because it is only intelligible to people of intelligence.
Try 6 years hard labour if you really want to do anything to change Britain’s broken society.

Good police work???
I think the stupidity was the deciding factor in his arrest.
How hard is it to trace someone if you have their cell phone, even the dimmest plod should be able to figure that out.
