Shopaholic Crushed To Death By Shopping
RIP Joan Cunnane, 77, crushed as she was beneath 3ft of wrapped goods, amassed over 16 years of dedicated shopping.
Bags piled high in Ms Cunnane’s bungalow. A 2ft-wide path between the edifices.
In the Rover Metro she left behind, candles, umbrellas, a teddy, shears and a foot pump.
Says the Sun:
Twelve police with sniffer dogs took nearly two days to unload her hoard into a giant skip and find her body.
Had only she bought a suit of armour and shelving.
Yesterday, we learnt of the death of Gordon Stewart, 74, who died of thirst after getting lost in his rubbish-packed home.
Is this a craze among the elderly?

I’m afraid that, like other parts of the media, you have trivialised this woman’s death. Your poor quality satire makes matters worse. To describe her as a ’shopaholic’ implies that she was a self-indulgent spendthrift. Her circumstances indicate that she probably suffered from some form of Obsessive-compulsive Personality Disorder. The numerous symptoms include hoarding and the acquisition of multiple versions of an article in the belief that they will form some sort of ’set’. I suspect that the same might apply to Mr. Stewart. I have treated a gentleman who could barely move in his house because it was filled with newspapers dating back to before the First World War. It is an extremely debilitating psychological disorder that deserves better than your feeble attempts to be humorous.

Another bad start to the year for the sniffer dogs. Not even two storeys to search and it took them two days

Minimalist doesn’t always work, but there is hoarding…which reminds me, must clear out that cupboard
