william;i to am a serious pedo hater.as is Dr.Watson,its a fright to god that people like you still fail to see facts.the parents are suspects,and there in nothing to suguest pedos other than the family, claiming it,The father once gave an interview saying he wasnt the suspect and asked people to look at that fact.WELL news flash he is now.So in his own words look at that fact,its difficult to accept that any parent could be responsible, but it does happen.Yes the parents have risen to a good social class,that dosent put someone beyond the capability of doing wrong

this is a sad sad story i agree with a lot of you i think its kind of half the mccanns fault for leaving 3 toddlers in an unlocked room while they dined at a restaurant.
i also think the mccanns had something to do with it because i was reading an article and it said that the mother kate said that the patio doors where unlocked, but she also said that when she went to check on them the window was opened, but they had left it shut, and the abducter had escaped through it.. now if the abducter entered via unlocked doors why would he need to escape through a window, im thinking that it wasn’t a well thought out story,
also if she was abducted why her why not the other two.
in the case that she was abducted, The mccanns are at fault, i mean we all know what kind of people are in this world, people just dont leave 3 young children alone…. They Get kidnapped.
I really hope this girl is found or the case comes to a conclusion that wil be better than not knowing its just fustrating i hope the girl is either happy or passed on.
please return her. whatever happened, i hate the b*stards who are to blame for this.

One more thing: what really shocked me today was a rage after the statement that PJ had ‘more important things than looking for Madeleine’. It’s like everyone expect that the whole country would stop as she is the most important ever. It is a very sad case and I would love a closure too, but there has to be some reason!

Just because you were neglectful and did not watch your kid, now you demand everyone will halt their lifes and solve the problem caused mainly by you. That is very self-centered attitude. Even if parents are not guilty and the abduction did happen - there is no reason the whole Portuguese police force work on it until infinity. They have their own crimes, their own missing kids/adults cases and noone in his right mind would not expect they will focus on this one case only. I laughed when someone on a Mirror forum (then existing) suggested the MI5 should look for her! With all other conflicts, crimes, Darfur, kids soldiers in Africa etc. - pouring resources to this one case is simply immoral.

I understand that for the parents this is the most important case in the universe; but, for God’s sake, even they cannot expect it will go on forever like that. Usually people do understand it is not always about their kids; there are other priorities, other poeple.

I cannot agree with you more. British media are racist - or at least patronising. When a Polish student Angelika Kluk has been murdered by a (we know now) serial killer Peter Tobin, one newspapaper wrote what a great adventure it must have been for her, coming from a ‘deathbed’ town, cleaning a parish in Scotland. For those, who have never been there, that’s the town mentioned:

And the girl could speak 3 languages.

Even now, when Peter Tobin is mentioned, there is always talk about Vicky Hamilton and Dinah McNicol - Angelika is almost never mentioned, even if she was his first known victim.

There are many other racists comments in the press - which is still nothing compared with the behaviour I’ve spotted in Gibraltar. I was shocked by this - let’s name it -colonial attitude and I find it not acceptable. The way Portugal is pictured in the newspapers now is beyond justification.

There are, thanks God, sensible people here on Anorak and I do believe this attitude is not shared by majority of British people. I am marrying a British guy myself and I know it is not a common state of mind. I think the main problem is remains of a colonial thinking and unjustified superiority feeling. Unjustified, as the world moved on and GB is not an empire anymore. What’s more, there are things in other countries which are far better than here (let’s say, NHS in Poland is so much better than in the UK - compared, GP’s are like witchdoctors). GN is a wonderful place and it is nothing wrong to be proud of it - but a reality check would be required.

I would never want to offend anyone here and - as a migrant myself - I do appreciate the British culture a great deal. But, I do understand your position, Paolo, and I do agree that British media should re-thing their role. Creating xenophobic atmosphere will not help anyone.

i hope and pray that madeleine is safe and well. if not i’d rather she was dead than suffering in pain or fear. when all is said and done we may never know. but i so sincerely wish her parents had not put the welfare of their friends first that night above the wellbing of their own children, friends come and go. but hey family is for life, or should be! i am so glad i am not kate or gerry, i find sleeping at night difficult enough, bless thej all.

What do those visits have to do with anything other than to raise awareness to their plight, to keep it in the public’s eye. As far as the Pope he may have given them comfort. I am not catholic so he doesn’t do it for me, but they being catholic…… They are really unable to look, as such, themselves. That is for the professionals. They just have to try to keep it going, keep the interest up, so it doesn’t die. Also I think over all this is going to do alot for other children gone missing. Perhaps there will be better alert systems put in place. No matter how vigilant a parent is, sadly, children will go missing.

Even if you don’t believe He exists, basic human sympathy and compassion should. Or isn’t that good living? Or is it that anyone with the ability to put on a campaign like the one the McCanns have done not worthy of sympathy. They have money and know people who are able to get things done, so ostracize them. Maybe without Him we don’t need to forgive poor judgement or mistakes. The holier than thou single mother probably has done things that others would think bad parenting or risky. It just hasn’t been so public.

however
it seems to me that middle class proffesionals who belong to a religion with a very bad record when it comes to child abuse are seen as better than a couple of chavs who left 3 kids alone ,

i’m sure the chav couple would have been crucified by the public/press and their kids taken into care.

while i agree with most of what you say i truly hope that maddy is found.
sadly i do not think she will be found alive and those who do are religeous cranks and the feeble minded.
i hope she is found because then this whole thing will have some sort of closure.
however
Richey James Edwards from the manic street preachers went missing in 1995. A high profile rock star recognised the world over went missing.
he is still missing today.
no body has been found.
perhaps this will be the same.
i hope not because someone out there is responsible for whatever happened to this little girl.

Good living also would suggest not to offend people with your foul mouth Dr Watson,. Your level of intelligence is showing in several ways in your diatribes against the McCanns. They don’t need your good opinion or the forgiveness of you who will not give it. Or any of you folks so bent on blaming them for leaving them alone. You are the ones in dire need of forgiveness. It is sick the way everything they do or the things you think they should do is up for your criticism. Also Dr Watson you are very inhumane to say that you wish she is never found. Why would you wish a lifetime of not knowing and pain on these people? Is the mistake they made worth your heaping ill will of the worst kind on them? God help you if you ever make a mistake, but then by the sounds of it, you don’t need Him. Maybe you will need Him one day; and maybe He will be there for even the likes of you.

Yet again we have the contention that leaving 2 babies and a toddler alone in an unlocked holiday apartment is like leaving your kid in your garden or another room in your house. Of course crimes happen on our own turf but it isn’t the same, not on any level. How can this be so difficult to grasp?
And just because some other people might do this doesn’t make it right.
Plus yet another call to boycott Portugal. By the same token maybe tourists should boycott the UK? This is after all the country where an innocent man was held down and murdered in public.
Portugal hopefully has learnt some lessons in this but it isn’t a mega rich country. It can’t keep a case active forever. No police force does.

Oh dear God. I had to read these posts several times. Perhaps if any of you actually knew any real facts instead of basing your “opinions” on speculation.
Madeleine McCann is a victim. Period. She deserves to be found, she deserves life. Any person(s) who participates in the removing of a child from that child’s current area without the knowledge of the parent(s), is called a kidnapper. This is an illegal action. It is also a morally wrong action.
Any person(s) who participates in the planning of, or the carrrying out of willful harm to a child is called a perpetrator, perp for short.
Madeleine McCann’s parents did what many of our parents did at home and abroad. Left us unattended. Check back through your granny’s pictures and see how many babies were left outside in their prams in the front garden.
It is not a crime to leave your toddler sleeping in their bed for most of the night while you are watching t.v. is it? Or while you swim outside in your pool at night? Or while you sip drinks in your hot-tub in the back garden? Or even sit in your next neighbours garden having a drink after the children are well asleep? I can guess not one person in their right mind would expect to come across the garden and find their child gone. Not one. Nor should they. Madeleine McCann was abducted folks. That means TAKEN.
