We’re All Madeleine McCann Now

madeleine-mccann-shrine.jpg“I’M selling my toys to help,” says the Express of “little Lauren Wynn”.

Pictured looking miserable by a pile of toys, blonde Lauren is raising money to help find missing Madeleine McCann.

Lauren, six, has delved into her toy box and set up a stall at Benhall Infant School in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

Lauren is not alone. Her bothers Christopher, nine, and Calum, seven, are helping to man the stall. Other children have donated toys to the cause.

Lauren’s mum says: “Lauren asked me if she was going to be taken when we go on holiday.”

And Dawn Webb, of the school’s Parent Teacher Association, tells us: “Any parent with a child knows exactly what Madeleine’s parents are going through at the moment.”

Or not. Thankfully, Dawn, the crime of having your child stolen by a stranger is rare. Any parent does not know what it fells like.

But you can imagine. You can join in the public spectacle. And you can bring the kids…

  1. 1 Lauren Says:

i think whoever is keeping Maddy should just give her back to her parent s right now and that other people will agree!

  2. 2 Anorak Says:

Why would they return her? For the reward?

  3. 3 Ross Says:

What is selling these toys actually goiong to achieve?

  4. 4 Anonymous Says:

about the same as writing comments here…

A few things should be put in place all over the world in countries where people vacation. These laws should be put in place to protect visitors and their children from deviants who take pleasure. The following information should be made easily accessible by tourist who ask. they should be allowed to view this information at a police station within 24 hours of their arrival at their vacation destination.

1- Anyone found with kiddie porn, soliciting sex from minors or sexually abusing minors should be arrested immediately. Whatever laws apply for such acts should be enforced. If there are no laws in some countries at the very least photos, prints and notifications to surrounding countries should be made.
2- Their passport should be marked for all custom agencies in all countries to see and identify that person as a child molester.
3- Their picture and prints along with a description of what they did should be put into a worldwide database under “pedophiles”. that database should be accessible to all customs in all airports and all police around the world.
4- Every country that person enters and exits should be able to track that persons whereabouts at any given time.
5- It should be a requirement for all sex offenders to register with the local authorities of whatever country, city, and town they will be staying.
6-once that person enters a country customs should alert all police in that country electronically of that persons arrival. A new photo should be taken. That persons picture with a set of prints should be sent to all police stations in that country and all border patrol.
7- These people should not be allowed to stay anywhere near tourists or children.

If EVERYONE around the world really wanted to get serious about protecting the children they would do it already. This is a no brainer. I think that this stuff is big business and probably in high demand. Sickos know where to go to get what they want. It really makes me wonder why measures like the ones I’ve listed above haven’t already been put in place……

that sounds like a lot of effort to me, to protect your kids like that, and at the same time back the likes of blair into bombing “other people’s” kids in the middle east. hmmm…

you say “These people should not be allowed to stay anywhere near tourists or children”, iyes, ‘d agree with that, but as there are children and tourists the world over, it leaves few possibilities… prisons perhaps - but they are already overflowing.

    there’s a simpler solution - perverticide.

i reckon perverticide is the best solution.

hang them by their gonads, draw them, quater them, in public…

the world would be a better place.

“Little Lauren Wynn” is my daughter, we were running a table-top sale and decided to donate some of the proceeds to the MCcann fund to help the family at this time. Not sure why you have picked up on this particular story - hundreds of fundraising events have taken place (over £300K has been raised) for the MCcanns. Ross, thankfully Lauren doesn’t need to listen to your “helpful” comments - as a 6 year old who was happy to help in any way she could, however small.

  8. 8 Anorak Says:

Sarah - thanks fof writing. Your story was picked up because it was in the national press. The report says: “Lauren’s mum says: ‘Lauren asked me if she was going to be taken when we go on holiday.’” Is this good thing for a child to be worried about; a child in a safe Western country? The media has spread the anxiety, and your daughter has become affected by it. Nice that she helps. But what does she think her stall is going to do? And what will you tell her if Madeleine is never found, or worse?

  9. 9 sarah Says:

As I am sure you are aware, not everything that is written in the press is quoted correctly. The reporter asked me what Laurens thoughts were about madeleine - the only thing she has said about it was that she was worried someone might take her when we go abroad. I have obviously reassured her that isn’t going to happen. The sale was being held anyway, it was simply a matter of deciding where to send the money raised. You ask what she thinks her stall is going to do? She has no idea the money was for this cause. We went along to help, a photographer asked if he could take some pictures. That was it. And as for looking miserable, the photographer said “can you do a sad face, and a smiley face.. and a normal face?” etc etc . She is just pleased she is in the paper, and I am pleased we made a bit of cash for a well deserving cause.

    hi to you all
i am dawn Webb and i just wanted to share with you all what has actually happened
yes i am a pta member at benhall infant school and i arrange on a REGULAR basic mother and baby table top sale which normally the money that is raised is shared between the school’s pta and a local charity
with the topic of subject (Madeleine) in many playgrounds across the country being that of this terrible abduction of this little girl, many of the mums wanted to show some compassion for the McCann and show support for the cause it was decided that we would raise some money for the find Madeleine fund
we had contacted our local newspaper to ask them for help in raising the profile of the sale in an effort to raise more funds for the pta and of the find Madeleine fund
they in return placed an advert and booked a photographer to come and take some photos
i want to clear up with you that Lauren was pictured with toys that she had actually BROUGHT from the sale and that in fact her brothers was not even present at the sale they were playing football
the press some time actually have a way a of making a story fit for them and words can actually be twisted
it was quoted that i said i know exactly how they feel of course i don’t how could i possible
like i said words get twisted and i wish that i didn’t bother trying to show some solidarity to the family
