Spelling Out Madeleine McCann To Bungling Police
THE Star says “bungling” Portuguese police are to search “Maddie” villa again.
Forensic scientists are to revisit the apartment from where Madeleine McCann went missing and look for clues.
But the place has, readers learn, been stripped and cleaned. So what will they find?
A British detective, described as “stunned”, says this is a sign of how “desperate the police are becoming”.
So they should not look over the apartment again, in case a clue was overlooked?
While the Star lists the bungles (“INSPECTOR CLUELESS”), the Sun looks at the apartment, a compact and bijou two-bed flat on the Ocean Club in Praia da Luz.
The apartment is on the market at a bargain £74,000, much less than the going rate of £150,000.
At least it was – it’s just been sold. As an “insider” tells the paper: “It was quite a surprise that it went on the market for such a low price and sold so quickly.”
While the new owners get ready to welcome the forensic team, voyeurs and tabloid hacks, the Sun shows children at Bishop Ellis Catholic Primary school in Thurmaston, Leicester, lining up to spell out the words “Find Madeleine”.
How this will help find the missing girl is not specified, but head teacher Gail Neill tells the Mirror: “All the children are aware of what’s happened to Madeleine and we pray regularly for her return.”
Indeed, we would all wish for a happy ending.
But one wonders what these children know, and if the youngsters could pass on their information to the Portuguese police…

I wonder why they are searching again. Even you Anorak, have to admit that it does seem a bit odd. Is it more DNA they are after?
I wonder why the owners decided to sell up so quickly. They would probably have got more for it if they’d hung on a year or so.
Some people will grab a bargain at any cost. I can;t say I’d have snapped it up…sleeping there would give me the heebie jeebies.

Get the FBI or CIA in to sort this out. It’s ridiculous the length of time these people have spent on this case without a shred of evidence pointing in any direction. If it were my child I would have insisted that the Portugese Police step aside and the specialists were brought in asap and stop wasting everyone’s time, especially Madeleine’s.
June 19th, 2007 at 1:26 pm
Yes I don’t think I would have been able to be as polite & law-abiding as the McCanns, I would have got a private investigator asap.
June 19th, 2007 at 1:26 pm
You mean like how Team McCann’s are wasting our time with their ridiculous publicity stunts.
June 19th, 2007 at 1:29 pm
Lynn….I have to agree with you. This simply is not good enough!!!! Dread to think what the Mccann’s are going through - having it reconfirmed over and over again…that the police simply are not up to it!! As for little Madeleine……well, it does not bear thinking about. Please may she be safe and unharmed somewhere and reunited with her family VERY soon!!!!
June 19th, 2007 at 1:33 pm
Manon…..good idea, I have been saying that for many weeks now. BUT no one wants to listen!!!!! But YES I think a “whole army” of private investigators, should be sent in. After all there are enough money to cover it. So why on earth not try EVERYTHING to get that precious girl home where she belongs!!
June 19th, 2007 at 1:43 pm
Strange as it may sound….I still think the little blond girl seen in Morroco, by the Norwegan tourist, was Madeleine!!!!!! Strange coincidence, that a liitle sad English speaking girl, was stood there, near a weird man, who did not respond when asked - “can I see my mummy soon”…….perhaps he did not speak English, and was merely waiting for someone to pick them up, and take them to God knows where!!! I’m sure no one agrees with this, however that is what I believe! I so wished that some VERY competent private investigatiors would look into it. Hoping it is not too late by now.
June 19th, 2007 at 1:50 pm
Brighton’er………I don’t understand why you say that the McCann’s are ‘wasting our time with their publicity stunts……’ If you choose to read it then in theory you are wasting your own time. Just don’t read it if it’s such a burden on your free time.
June 19th, 2007 at 2:13 pm
I suspect, but perhaps am just optomistic, that there are all kinds of private investigators and maybe even Interpol etc. working on this, but it would hardly be sensible for them to advertise it, no? “OK, today the private investigator will be talking to X, Y and Z” would not really keep them hot on the trail, now would it? We didn’t know about the investigators working on that child prono ring until they busted them, did we? So, let’s all hope that there is someone out there who knows what they are doing, and once they find Maddy and all Yerami, and all the other poor little ones, they can tell us all about it in some book or miniseries - until then, they can just keep at it!
June 19th, 2007 at 2:29 pm
Helen…….I agree that undercover people could be working on this as we speak. I also hope that the Portugese Police are said to be doing such a poor job for publicity purposes only and they are closer to finding the poor little soul.

Helen and Lynn……I sincerely hope you are both right - as Madeleine needs to be found NOW!!!! Plus of couse you are correct in saying that we do NOT need to know what is going on, as long as one could be sure something indeed is going on!!!!
Elaine….I thought it was a lovely thing for the children to do. Whilst not all of them know Madeleine, they sure know of her by now. So surely showing their support like this is fine and I cannot see any of them finding it a frightening experince as you put it! Also I’m quite sure they have had it all explained to them in great details - both at home and at school, as in WHY they are spelling out - FIND MADELEINE!
June 19th, 2007 at 6:16 pm
I have never read such a load of xenophobic bigotry in my whole life. Why is it the Btitish think they are the best in the world at everything?
Parents and family contaminated the crime scene in the first place so very little DNA was available for collection.
Let us not forget whose responsiblity Madeleine was in the first place and stop blaming the Portuguese police for what is in effect someone else’s “fault” in the first place.
I hope and pray for Madeleine everyday, but referring to Portuguese police as bungling and claiming that British police are so much better is totally ludicrous especially as British police have been here working alongside Portuguese - are they too bungling?

Please light a candle for little Madeleine. She doesn;t have many. Please spare a moment from your busy lives.

Perhaps the Mccanns are not hiring an army of private detectives because they want to keep the money for themselves? When are the Mccanns going to be charged for neglecting their child?
June 20th, 2007 at 10:01 am
Johnnie, dead right, and when will the tabloids start blaming THEM rather than the police? The reason the McCanns are being so “patient” is because they know while people are blaming the police, God etc, they are NOT blaming the people at fault here - the McCanns.
June 20th, 2007 at 11:22 am
Why blame the McCanns? That is so stupid! They have enough of pain and do not need more!
Have u seen this?

Perhaps they are keeping a low profile so that they can watch what goes on without creating suspicion. I think they are dodgy. Seem to more interested in posing for the cameras with that fucking teddy bear if you ask me - still they’re getting a nice extended holiday out of it.
June 20th, 2007 at 12:55 pm
The Portugese police had nothing to go on from day one thanks to the number of people that went through the apartment before the police were even called. OK they didn’t tape it off and the cleaner went in, but by then it was too late anyway.
The facts point in only one direction and that is to the McCanns, so why have they not been reinterviewed. Surely neglect is a crime in Portugal. If they went to court, there is sufficient circumstancial evidence to convict them.
June 20th, 2007 at 1:25 pm
Good heavens, is common sense beginning to prevail at long last?
June 20th, 2007 at 10:22 pm
What a stupid comment from ‘Billy’ and ‘The Executioner’. I have read so many idiotic comments such as these throughout the last 48 days, and they make me sick. Of course these characters can’t have children, or if they do God help them. What did you expect the McCann’s to do when they found their child missing, stand at the entrance of the bedroom and say ‘oh dear, madeleine seems to be missing’. If it had been me I would have been hysterical. These people deserve respect for the way in which they have controlled themselves in public, God only knows how they are reacting in private. They were wrong, they have admitted it, but just leave them alone. Madeleine is all that matters at this moment, and the search to get her back to her family is paramount. So for heavens sake don’t you read anything else about the McCann’s because it only brings out your bitter and twisted comments that no one who cares wants to hear.

I couldn’t read the story, because “The Star” doesn’t have it on-line. Do they quote any source, when they say that “bungling” Portuguese police are to search “Maddie” villa again?
I’m asking this because, according to Times Online (1), “(..) Kate McCann went to check on her children, Madeleine and two-year-old twin brother and sister, Sean and Amelie, 30 minutes (…) after a a friend of the McCann saw a man carrying away “(..) a blonde-haired girl (..) from (…) the apartment, wrapped in a blanket at (…)9.30pm as she arrived late for dinner with Madeleine’s parents (…)” So, at 10.00pm, the McCann family found that Madeleine was missing.
The first call to Police Precinct of GNR (Portuguese Rural Police) in Lagos, reporting a missing child and asking for Police help was made at 10.50pm and a patrol was sent, arriving at Ocean Club 12/15 minutes later, according to Lieutenant-Colonel Costa Cabral, Head of Public Relations of GNR (Email: cg.rep5@gnr.pt - Ph: (+351) 213 217 046). Between 10.00pm and 11.02pm, dozens of people came inside Mccann’s apartment (friends, other guests, staff from Ocean Club) alarmed and willing to help in the search for Madeleine (2).
The GNR patrol, according also to Lieutenant-Colonel Costa Cabral, alerted Polícia Judiciária (Portuguese CID) immediately after they had the basic information to evaluate the situation, and they put on an alert of “missing child, possible kidnapping”. Crime scene, already heavily tampered, was isolated after police arrived, at a time that I couldn’t yet confirm. First GNR Sniffers dogs teams arrive at the place during the night and, at the dawn, more sniffers dogs teams, who left from Lisbon at 3.00am, May 4, arrived at Praia da Luz.
This is confirmed on a story published by The Guardian (2) at 2.30pm, Friday, May 4, and signed by “Mark Oliver and agencies”. Mark Oliver quotes Mr. John Hill, the manager at Ocean Club, as having said this:“(…) around 60 staff and guests at the complex had searched until 4.30am while police notified border police, Spanish police and airports (…) There is a criminal investigator here in charge of the situation and around 20 officers (..)”
Marl Oliver also wrote, in the same story: “Assisted by sniffer dogs, police, who started the search last night, were today continuing to comb the resort and the village. Detectives were also speaking to guests at the resort, asking if they had seen anyone acting suspiciously last night (..)”
The next day, Saturday, May 5, Guardian published another story, signed by Sandra Laville and Dale Fuchs. They wrote: “Police helicopters flew over Praia de la Luz yesterday as the hunt intensified for Madeleine McCann, who went missing from her bedroom in the apartment on Thursday night. Teams of officers used sniffer dogs to scour the resort, in the south-west of Portugal, where Gerald McCann, a cardiac surgeon, and his wife Kate, had taken their three young children (..)”
Mrs. Gill Renwick, a family friend, told BBC the McCanns, who had been holidaying with three other British families, had felt let down by police in Portugal. “I spoke to them this morning and they said the police had done nothing overnight and they felt as if they’d been left on their own. They just don’t know where to turn.”

To add to the above, Gerry McCann checked the children at 9.10 pm, although bar staff refute that fact, having said they made no checks from the time they arrived until Madeline was checked at 10pm.
OK so based on this, the friend who saw a child being carried away knew the McCanns children were left in an unlocked apartment, because the whole party did the same. (Kate McCanns words). Did the friend not say anything at 9.30, and if not why not.
Boy this gets better for the in house abduction theory.
June 22nd, 2007 at 1:22 pm
The friend probably didnt say anything because it just looked like a man carrying a child, late at night. Possibly assumed it was a father carrying his sleeping daughter.
It wasn;t until the alarm was raised that the friend realised that what she actually may have seen was madeleine being carried away. Another old irish couple have also come forward following the irish appeal stating that they too saw someone carrying a child but didnt realise the gravity of what they saw.
How does this point to it being an in house abduction job? Am i missing something?

Joanne:
I think you are right. It´s normal, after dinner time (between 8.30pm and 10.00pm) in beach resort, see parents carrying sleeping children. I remeber to do it, while on hollidays, when my younger son was 4/5 years old. Children get tired, playing in the beach the all day. Several times, we went out for diner - me, my wife and my younger son - and after diner I had to carry him and two or three times he fall asleep in my armas, before we reached our apartment. So, I don’t know how is it possible to reach a conclusion like Mr. Executioner says. May be he dosn’t have children or never went on hollidays with them, to a beach resort…
By the way, news about a POSSIBLE MADELEINE SIGHTING in Malta sighting were NOT TRUTH. It’s a child very similar to Madeleine, but it isn’t, definitly, Madeleine:

I have 3 children and have stayed at holiday camps and camping sites. I even owned a static caravan for a couple of years, so I know what such places are like. One thing you will always see in such places are unsupervised children, even if playing outside a caravan door while mummy prepares dinner and dad is at the pub.
Never once did I or my wife leave our children anywhere they could not be seen at all times. It does not take much to watch a child properly.
As for my conclusions, as I have already said, when you add up the facts the simplest and only solution that can be gained is that the McCanns are not the innocent couple they want the world to believe they are.
