Princess Diana’s Five Lovers: A Play

“DIANA: FIVE LOVERS NAMED,” says the Mail’s front-page headline.

“THE FIVE LOVERS” is not the title of the latest book on the life of the celebrity Princess – “afterwards deified” –an attempt to give her life a classical Seutonian bent.

It is, rather, a look at some of the lovers Diana experienced during her lifetime.
Interestingly only one of the five has written a book on the Princess. James Hewitt, (“Cavalry Man!”) has penned Moving On, which opens: “I had started a new life. My army career was over after seventeen years and I was now running the Eversfield Manor Equitation Centre in Devon.”

He also wrote Love and War, a book that features the Princess Diana quote on its cover page: “Yes, I adored him. Yes, I was in love with him.”

Readers may imagine those words to have been directed at Hewitt, but they could just as easily be applied to James Gilbey (Squidgy”), Oliver Hoare (“Art dealer”), Will Carling (“rugby star”) and Barry Mannakee, (“Bodyguard”).

The Express leads with “HOW THE PALACE DISAPPROVED OF DIANA’S LOVER”.

Diana’s former private secretary Michael Gibbons tells the inquest into his former employer’s death that he detected “disapproval” from within the royal circles.

Gibbons has yet to pen a book on his thoughts, but Diana: A Gentleman Caller and Diana: Quick - The Window! a bedroom farce in five acts cannot be too long in the offing…

Hang on a minute - I fucked her - why isn’t my name mentioned?

  2. Anorak Says:

The word is “worshipped” - please keep it respectful…

  3. richard lawler Says:

I saw diana at the Novellos bar in Fulham before the Paris trip and she talked about being the prientstess of the diamond light.

at weybridge a similar car was achored down as a stuntman leapt free.

  4. nicola pool Says:

I heard richard talk about how he had known here since her Earls Court Cleaniing days.
He met her frequently at Pursers cross road in severasl houses and in St Dionis about the time Doctor at Large died twice.

  5. John Says:

Yes prince philip used to turn ould kick off her shoes and some lucky fellow would pick one up like cinderella

  6. Clive Says:

Harry - which one is the Daddy ?

  7. Cookie Says:

seems funny the Palace never disapproved of the horses a** the Prince was seeing and now married too!
Good for her! At least she had SOME fun!

  8. Cheryl Says:

All one has to do is read the history of the royalties throughout the centuries…isn’t that one of the ‘perks’ that comes with being a Royal!

  9. lyn Says:

Do we really know whether or not she had all these men, including Dodi.
Diana was such a shy soul when she married Charles. All I can say is well, she had a loveless marriage and all that and she chose to be the way she was. If Harry is a Hewitt, he is not saying anything. DNA would tell anyway and no one has done anything about it yet. Only a bit of hair will tell.

  10. Cheryl Says:

I believe Hewitt made money on a ‘tell all’ book re his relationship with the Princess. I would think common sense would tell one if he were the father he’d be crowing about it and I believe he has denied it. Note that Prince William’s looks are changing more as he is growing older and his looks and thinning hair now favour the Royal Family’s. Prince Harry has the better looks and full head of hair and hair colour of Diane’s family, if one cares to pay attention to details. Diane not only brought badly needed ‘new blood’ to the family but also good looks to be carried on by her off-spring.

  11. Clive Says:

    Cheryl
The band played Believe it if you liked.
To be honest my only interest in his paternity is to reduce the amounts paid to royalty
from public purse by eliminating any pretenders.
I do agree Diana was far too good for them but I’ll always struggle to accept that
chinless Charles ever fathered that lumbering lout.

  12. Richard lawler Says:

Barry George approached me( in a launderette in Fulham Road where Angelia Harris worked)to manage a projected band based on a poem to Price Charles that he hoped to turn into a song.
he said he had been requested to be stunt driver for a car in Weybridge fixed with a harpoon under the car to fire at a wooden post in a field.
He used the name Paul Gadd my solicitor was called Patricia Gadd.
There was as suspicious fire in Munster Road and another in Purser’s Cross Road.
A man from Orpington Kent linked to t supermarket driving a green Mercedes mounted the pavement opposite the then Minaland bank and tried to run me over. the case was dropped as this man was dating a policewown at Heckfield place police station.

  13. Richard lawler Says:

.I had written to crime watch about the statement in the high court by Susan Wilkins (nee Lawler), another TV presenter, that she had never worked for the Basingstoke gazette ( now the Gazette0 even though there are payroll records for this and several museum have copies of her staff articles.
.My fathers body was found by Vincent Clark from Becton East London but his death was not reported and the house had been burgled.
After my personal goods from my allotment were packed into my car I went up to a police officer and woman outside the old police station in Barnes they were in deep conversation but eventually I got their attention after that the drive who I believe to have been (10.6.1945) ran off and I was ordered by the police to drive the car away. After that apparently a summons was sent to a n address where I had never lived. The car was registered to Victoria Taylor.

  14. richard J Says:

I had known Di since the Earl’s court days, so a bit longer than Prince Charles. i was one of the last eople to see her but no one invted me to the inquest.
She asked me to intervene with Prince Philip bu i only edited the magazine.
I saw an octopus wrap itself round a colomm and dream of Jermey Thorpes wife and her car.We used to meet opposite Spratts and she called me her Mackerell. She said she found me rather a cold fish. We talked of the happy hymen days and of how my mother was a court dressmaker and adjuster for Harvey Nichools. She asked if my mother ever went upstairs to the bar. i said not often.

  15. Dennis Says:

I last saw the Princess about ten years ago. She was at the beauty salon. She said she wanted to look her best for the crash.

  16. richard Says:

Diana told me Dodi was in deep trouble a few days before she died.
    Richard lawler

  17. richard lawler Says:

George wanted to form a band but Diana did not know what that had to do with P Gadd or
Barry Busara invading the grounds with excessive equipment
