Express Newspapers And The McCanns
THE Guardian notes on the Express Newspapers:
A spokesman for Express Newspapers declined to comment on the removal of the articles from the company’s websites.
The Express once featured the Madeleine McCann story on its front page. Not any more.
An email from the Daily Express online editor, Geoff Marsh, quoted on the website anorak.co.uk, said: “For operational reasons, some articles previously available on express.co.uk have been temporarily removed. I’m afraid I can’t go into any more detail.”
Carter-Ruck partner Adam Tudor, who is representing the McCanns, told MediaGuardian.co.uk last week that the complaints against Express Newspapers were ongoing.
However, it is thought the case could be settled imminently.
What will happen when the matter is settled?
Despite the removal of references to Madeleine, she remains one of the most popular online search requests among both titles’ readers, taking up five of the top nine searches listed on the Express website, including the top three. Princess Diana comes fourth.
On the Daily Star’s website, four of the 15 top searches listed are about Madeleine.
Has this story of missing child run out of steam? Should Anorak continue to cover its treatment in the media, this single thread story that became a media feeding frenzy? The child remains missing. For all the stories and all the sensation, no newspaper has discovered what happened to the child.

Is that perhaps why they decided not to support it from the Fund? They didn’t really believe it would lead anywhere? Don’t know why but possibly they were well aware that the police weren’t taking the “tip-off” seriously.

Arigao made in clear from the start that the police were not interested in his search of the dam; I cannot begin to imagine why. Maybe they don’t rate the tip-off he received from an “underworld” contact?
However, I understand from today’s reports (true or not?!) that he did in fact give whatever was found to both M3 AND the police. This, in my view, makes good sense.

Jo, I’m not going to buy your excuse re your friends leaving their child unsupervised as a “cultural” thing - sorry, you can’t have it both ways to justify your venom! From what I’ve read on here from time to time it has been alleged that that is also more less acceptable in the UK, also.

NOBODY wants their “sympathy”.
Yeah…a very big cloud of big suspicion and the Cortes REFUSED to be sucked in and this is their RIGHT.They are sueing the mcFools for USING their child to their OWN ends.

The Cortes have never ever been suspected of their child”s disappearance and Madeleine”s progenitors ARE suspects .They are arguidos or am I mistaken?

First, Jo, for your information the word “fury” was used by the newspaper not by the McCanns. In fact, I noted when I checked back that the word “fury” was used in another article by the same newspaper also but not related to the McCanns. Thus, “fury” was a word used to ’sex up’ an article - grab readers attention and they read it. The word ‘fury’ was changed to ‘furious’ on here by some of the posters to suit their own questionable purposes.
Why shouldn’t the McCanns offer their sympathy and support to the Cortes, Jo? Both of those parents lost their children from acts of neglect - leaving them unsupervised at too young an age. Yes, the McCanns have a cloud of suspicion around them but yet unproven; so at this time their child can be presumed missing from their neglect only.
At a time of great tragedy such as going on now with several families losing a child they should be surrounded with love, understanding and true compassion but interesing to see how such tragedies have brought out the ugly side in people intent on condemning them and/or influencing them.
