Shannon Matthews: Rewarding Times
SHANNON Matthews has been found. And the Sun’s reward claimed. The reward it doubled. But by whom? And who gets it? How does the Sun decide?
Says Chief Supt Barry South: “Let me put on notice that had we known at any time the whereabouts of Shannon, we would have been there within seconds. These people are now coming out of the woodwork.”
Might the Sun now have to engage in some investigative journalism..?

6, Carmen Says:
[...] struggling to work out where they can park young Kevin, Tracey or Sharon for a few weeks, …

Over here it would be young Jennifer (pronounced “Tsssschennifa”), Selina or Luca.
Typical supermarket-scene: “Tschenifa, Tschenifa, kumm her do!” [say loud and repeat it 10 times at full volume]

Irrespective of whether this was a genuine abduction or not, as a result of the extensive newspaper coverage regarding businessmen offering ‘lottery’ sums of money ‘for the safe return of’ little x,y and z, there will be, as we speak, befuddled and ill equipped minds struggling to work out where they can park young Kevin, Tracey or Sharon for a few weeks, whilst the parents persuade those of a gullible nature to come up with the wherewithal for a shed load of Carlsberg, a plasma screen tv, and alloy wheels for the mobility car parked outside their ‘umble abode.
There may even be some very well equipped brains poring over the world atlas, working out exactly which exotic location has the least well equipped police force to deal with a similar situation.
There will be more.
No children were harmed in the making of this street party.

If the mother knew all along, well, Mrs Matthews is a very actress indeed.

Who knows, maybe those money-grabbing opportunists who have jumped on the bandwagon that was spinning by, will realise that the safety of a little girl who has now been found, means more than any thousands of pounds that are spinning by …. then again, maybe not, a couple of pairs of boxing gloves may be needed, to sort out the weakest! A missing child was found, safe (and sound as far as we know), let it be, the odds of a missing child being found alive after more than three weeks is worth FAR more than any $$$$$$ !!!!

Amber Alert. [Shannon Matthews thread.]
Shannon Matthews’ welcome reappearance leads one to examine ‘Amber Alert’, which is another McCann marketing tool.
There is much to commend ‘Amber Alert’ as a means of mass, rapid and blanket dissemination of the details of a missing child, but there are guidelines enforced by the US Department of Justice in order to prevent excessive false alarms.
There are four important criteria to be applied before issuing an Amber Alert:
1.Law enforcement must confirm that an abduction has taken place.
2.The child must be at risk of serious injury or death.
3.There must be sufficient descriptive information of child, captor, or captor’s vehicle to issue an alert.
4.The child must be 17 years old or younger
It is obvious that, in the cases of Shannon Matthews and Madeleine McCann, and for widely differing reasons, the first three of these caveats would have inhibited a declaration of Amber Alert, had such a procedure existed in their cases. Amber Alert is no panacea, and certainly no substitute for conscientious parenting.
‘Yorkshire MEP Edward Macmillan-Scott called for a review of Britain’s procedures for dealing with missing children, insisting that a system such as the “Amber Alert”, which is used in the US, France and Belgium, would have meant Shannon being found within hours.’ - BBC Online.
One can always rely upon an opportunist politician to crawl out of the woodwork and attempt to make capital from human drama or misfortune. Macmillan-Scott is no exception. He requested a meeting with West Yorkshire Police, whereupon no doubt he attempted to substantiate his claim that Amber Alert ‘would have meant Shannon being found within hours.’ We note West Yorkshire Police have disposed of that taunt.
Of passing interest to ‘predator’ fetishists is that Amber Alerts, in the great majority of USA cases, uncovered parental abduction.
