Real life is afterall grittier which is what get stripped out of the bible for sunday school kids stories - at which point it then becomes forgetton and only the headlines remembered. sound like the 'trendy' vicar is getting Back to basics (no political pun intened there). wouldn’t say trendy myself, but it does make you think that there is more to a ‘happy clappy’ bible story.
