I'm talking about the reactions of ordinary people in some of the redneck hangouts and biker bars I frequently play in with my band. I've seen many instances of instant retribution being extracted on obnoxious people by drunken loonies who act first and think last, and no one goes to jail. The bar owners usual reaction is to toss everyone involved out and threaten to call the cops. Only they dont because every police call counts against them when it comes time to renew their liquor licenses. Basically if no firearms are involved no one cares. In this enviroment you watch your step. It's different out here in the 'heartland' as they like to call it. Yes Stan and Michael, they do get away with things. And by the way, the pubs she allegedly was at are plenty 'rustic' to use your word and slapping someone silly whether they deserve it or not is a good way to meet the sheriff's deputy yourself.
