Elvis was and always will be number one. Elvis will be number one again atop the Billboard Hot 100 and 200 charts. I guarantee it. After the success he had in 2002 with the "Elvis-30 number one hits album (number one on Billboard's Top 200 Album Chart and Country Album Chart) and the successes of "A LITTLE LESS CONVERSATION" (number one on Billboard's Hot 100 Sales Chart in 2002), the "RUBBERNECKING" single in 2003 (number one on Billboard's Hot 100 Sales Chart), the rerelease of 2004's "THAT'S ALRIGHT MAMA" (another number one) and the rerelease of "HEARTBREAK HOTEL" (a number one in 2006) the sky's the limit. Billboard will claim Mariah Carey has more number ones but just ask Billboard who has the most number ones on their single sales chart and they will tell you that it's Elvis. Three of Mariah Carey's number ones were duets not to mention that the bulk of her number ones were the result of airplay which was influenced by payola. Carey will be exposed for the fraud she's perpetrating. In no way am I suggesting Carey is untalented but look at the reactions to Elvis and Mariah and it's no comparison. Also look at the statistics. Elvis sold far more copies of his number ones than Carey has and in less time. Like I said I'm not suggesting Mariah doesn't have a great voice ,on the contrary ,she's one of the greatest singers of all-time ,but with all that talent I would think she would be beyond such things as payola. If anyone wants me to e-mail them an article that talks about payola in the music industry write me at donn409@gmail.com. If we bombard Billboard.com's Fred Bronson and Geoff Mayfield with enough e-mails and complaints and not let up they will eventually see the light.

Elvis was, and is still, the Greatest Music Phenomenon of the 20th/21st Centuries. He is the one they all try and copy and the one who is never far from the top of the polls, record charts, and whatever other measure of success you care to name.

People will still be playing and reading about Elvis in a thousand years time. No disrespect to Robbie Williams, but Elvis is in a league all by himself. In any case, it is only a cultural fad which denigrates being fat to that of being thin and has nothing to do with talent.

Young readers cannot help but notice that Elvis presley described by Leonard Berstein as "The greatest force in 20th Century culture", continues to be always on the minds of editors everywhere.......even in the 21st Century.

Robbie's song about Elvis, "Advertising Space", was not far from the truth! But Kate Bush had it nailed with her more compassionate song about Elvis, "King of the Mountain".
Tommy Steele knows that to be true.
