I can’t stand Polly Toynbee.
Nothing is worse than a rich Puritan preaching things they don’t practise - not even a Daily Mail reader whining.
Also she’s lazy and writes bollox. I remember one particularly random thing she inflicted on the Radio Times ‘Before 1980 women weren’t expected to be funny apart from Hatty Jacques, and she was grotesque’.
How does anyone come up with that? She wasn’t grotesque and what about Marie Lloyd, Gracie Fields…
How do these people get paid????

One of the best QT exchanges I’ve seen for some time.
Miaow!

Ah , well had planned on NOT working this Bank Holiday, clients had different ideas and were all happy with the pathetic capitalist bleat of ‘I charge double on BH’, and am ruminating about a new kitchen…but blame Anorak anyway, he’s used to it/me

Sorry about that; perhaps we could blame it on Anorak?

The problem with Littlejohn is not that “he says what ordinary folk think”, but that he is so removed from ordinary folk, that he ends up inventing what he imagines ordinary folk think.
And I would guess that there’s quite a few Mail readers with 2nd homes - though probably in the more-acceptable-to-Littlejohn Spain, rather than Nulab-style Italy. So that’s OK then.

Traditionally in such cases we suggest that they hire a room…

Richard Littlejohn to Polly Toynbee:
‘I’m not advocating your position.’
There is a rich seam of satire buried in there somewhere.
We should be told…
