McGuckin In McCann Peril: Foreign Crimes In Foreign Climes
BRITONS planning trips to the new Portugal should go equipped with a loud hailer, a private detective and nothing too shiny. If on a driving holiday, ensure the boot can be opened from within.
Listen to the tale told by Eamon and Antionette McGuckin, who found their three children in the care of the Portuguese – and what irony there, readers – after they were attacked by a “Rohypnol gang”.
One would imagine that given the paralysing powers of the so-called date rape drug, the Rohypnol Gang are not much cop at ganging, preferring to lie down and wait their victim to trip over them. It would help if the victims were drunk.
But this gang is armed with the drug and slipping it into the “small jug” of sangria the McGuckins were quaffing, sipping, even. (Although the Mirror’s Sue Carroll sees the “dog tired, hot and thirsty” couple taking beer – mucky foreign beer.)
Says a friend of the family, namely a Dr Cyril Harkin: “Neither of them are big drinkers. They have tried to understand what happened and have linked the sangria with the sudden decline in their health. They believe they were drugged by someone trying to rob them.”
The GP puts the tin lid on the matter by saying: “The Portuguese authorities are paranoid after the Madeleine McCann case.”
We are not anti-foreigner, and are quite confident that if the entire peoples of continental Europe were placed in a cell we could find a dozen for a game of cricket and a scorer, but can only conclude that the vast mojortity Portuguese are the scum of the Earth and in need of hanging…

Chenier, are you are being sarcastic, if there had been a fine toothcomb search in May why search again in September?

Because someone may have made a mistake.
Because not all dogs are as well trained as Eddie and Keela.
Because it’s not like the tv programmes; fallibility is inevitable.
The way you deal with the existence of fallibility, if you are a professional, is to recheck over and over again.
But it’s worth bearing in mind that the police’s first duty was to try and find a live child.
Cadaver dogs can’t do that…”
And because - what better place to put something later, than a place you know has already been searched and marked off on the Police search plan.

3A is quite intense, the threads are concentrated and repetitive - it would suit his style.

You may have a point.
I have incomplete info.
Still I rather favored the lad.
Can’t account for subsequent behaviour.
Still I don’t completely trust those reports from 3A.
They could be faked.
Ian rang true for me, not withstanding the occasional excess,
to which I must also confess.
I have been bullied. I tend to support his position on bullying.
Well, in any case, I got a rise from you, cat.
May 8th, 2008 at 2:09 am
Free Ian!
See from whom that will get a rise.
We late night posters are left to desparate measures.

Clock still doesn’t seeming to be ticking.
That’s a silly thing to say, anyway.
So what’s the best prognostication?
I am putting my lot with the waxing moon.
Justice for the child.

We keep on posting because we are thinking of a child who has disappeared into thin air. Her parents don’t seem IMO all that worried. The other lot don’t either. Other children have gone too, too many to list on here. We think of them all. Maddie’s case is different due to the way the parent’s, the Tpas lot, and other people have been behaving. I can’t remember anyone behaving like this before!

To be honest, I am getting a bit frayed with the whole mm mystery. I was thinking that it will end like the bermuda triangle, no answers, no solving, and an enternal mystery.

no i don’t think so, not at all. it’s very odd.
‘AND, why did Jon Corner let this loose on Panorama? Is he a friend or foe? IMO he’s set her up for later.’
i’ve no idea, i do think it can be read both ways. i don’t know who jon corner is.

Ganda, You’re very much into “quantum” nowadays, are you?
Anyway, IMO an investigator would sooner have a theory on the basis of the evidence, be it circumstantial, than looking for evidence to proof his theory … And if all or most of what we have heard so far [ I know, oh I know, no "facts"] is true, there is a LOT of circumstantial evidence that something went wrong and it wasn’t an abduction.
May 8th, 2008 at 12:31 am
That’s indeed interesting, Christine. There have been more occasions where people seemed to be totally supportive, yet between the lines critical and giving away tiny details. E.g. O’Donnell’s article [revenue donated to the "Fund"] delicately picturing GM as a pompous loud-mouthed macho, obviously resenting them for leaving the kids alone while dining [and advertising it], wondering why they were told late night about the disappearance, but no questions asked and no help for searching needed, etc. And the other article by whatshisname. who quotes GM as saying that he counts himself lucky being able to have a quiet dinner WITHOUT the kids. They all sound supportive on first sight, but read between the lines. Recently BBC with camera running after the interview with the devastated parents, who have a laugh [and they broadcasted it, whereas it could have been easily cut...].
May 8th, 2008 at 12:30 am
The truth Chatta may be somewhat more diverse, which is to say, that in fact the PJ have no idea at all what happened, how it happened or why it happened.
Nothing in this case has followed, what we call the normal or relative proceedure, that would govern a criminal case, Ergo some investigators may very well be applying a quantum theory to test any evidence that they have, the results may not be what they seek, do not be surprised if they never see the light of day.
May 8th, 2008 at 12:27 am
IMHO even now, think the whole lot of them were involved in something nasty to do with children and things have gone wrong, like Maddie died. The fingers of evil could extend into areas never thought of before. People in high places could be involved. IMO. Never be too surprised at what people do! In the meantime before these people are caught, no justice has been done for Madeleine, yet.

I think Rebelo was right when he said that they, the PJ, had a pretty good idea of what had happened. I also think that their only problem was and is to proof WHO did exactly WHAT & WHEN.
There’s been
1. an “accident” of some sort, something which wasn’t the “way it was supposed to be” and
2. a subsequent cover-up involving one or more of the T9. Then
3. a “money”-line may have been to repair unforeseen damages after this unforeseen “accident” without bearing a direct relation to it.
[IMO & allegedly & with all due credit & respect to Carmen's theory the other night].
