Rogerio Alves said detectives in Portugal had finally admitted they have no evidence against the couple and were preparing to lift their arguido status. But he also warned the move could signal the end of the year-long hunt for the four-year-old.

RESIDENTS of the housing estate where Shannon Matthews disappeared are to choose how cash raised for her appeal will be spent.

This week the six trustees for the Help Find Shannon Fund and local community support group Pathfinder, which managed the collection of the money, met to decide what to do with the remaining cash.
Family, friends, neighbours, local businesses and community groups donated money into the Help Find Shannon Fund – much like the one for missing youngster Madeleine McCann – during the 24 days the nine-year-old was missing.
So give the money to the Find Madeleine fund, easy?

Off topic : Yesterday I was browsing on another site, where CW spoke of some metal sheet. It made me think of the folded metallic sheet I have in my car in case an accident happens. Folded, it takes no more room than a disposable handkerchief. It looks like very fine foilpaper. It is meant to wrap an injured person in case of an accident. Golden on one side to keep the injured person warm, silvery on the other side to keep the person cool.
But I don’t know what to make of the criptic information given by CW.
What of the information above? Salomon ES told us that in August, it was the justice holiday season, so the arguido status would be lifted before or after August.

Has there been any more clarification of the job offered to Murat by Kennedy in the company of lawyers? IMO the wealthy benefactor’s action somehow helps to complete the circle of arguidos, rather unexpectedly to me anyway.There appears to be 2 possible versions of the meeting.
1. to request assistance in finding Madeleine - although what this means in legal terms for the criminal investigation, the arguido states and the secrecy of justice I don’t know. What would the job offer be? Private investigator or understudy for the role of abductor in the film?
2. to discuss possible mutual interests in the PDL property market and related job offer. Does Kennedy have business interests in PDL?
Either version suggests that Kennedy’s financial support to the McCann’s fighting fund to establish their innocence may be more than benevolence, imo.
I posted AGWide “s comment because it brings some interesting issues over the new spin and talks of “clearance”and the kennedy-murat meeting.
The “clearance” thinggy is a new tantrum from the mccanns.The media again are trying to pressurise the PJ,like if this had the slightest chance to happen.UNLESS there is an OFFICIAL annoucement,I will not believe it.

True.The PJ has crossed off their list 2 things: abduction and charges for neglect.
On the other hand,they have many evidence thats something else has happened.To pin point what “it” is,they want a reconstruction,starting may be, may 2nd……BUT……

well i don’t know considering that statement. if the pj has admitted that then they should by rights lift the status sooner, seems to me a lot of pfaffing around.

You….and I…..know that that is not the reason for their non-return.
I, if a parent, in such a situation, would never have left in the first place.
I would have stayed and continued to search…to fully co-operate with the
Police….and to answer all of their Investigative questions.
However, if I was a guilty parent…I might just do what they have done.

There has also been alternative information, that the arguido ststus, or better said any restrictions connected to it (announcing your whereabouts to the police if you leave your home for more than 5 days) has not to be lifted, but simply expires after 8 months unless extended for 3 more months, so it will expire for certain until August. According to these reports, there is no need to be formally cleared from the arguido status.
As there also have been changes to portuguese law, it seems that nobody in Portugal knows exactly how terms have to be calculated. The most extensive possibility is to start the clock running on Sep 15, when the changes of law came into effect, and then add 8+3 months to it. So you end up in mid of August.
Actually, it doesn’t seem anyone cares much about that anyway.

I can see what Dr. Watson meant I think : if the Mcs were to be charged, their status wouldn’t be arguido anymore. Andif they aren’t charged, their arguido status will eventually be lifted too, probably. Which doesn’t mean the case will not be reopened later on, if more evidence is found.
