Legends Of The Ball: Whitney Houston’s Park Life
OVER the newswires, Anorak learns that “Whitney Houston dazzled the crowd with a rare live performance at a star-studded charity ball in London”.
And not just in any part of London but in a park.
Readers who last saw Houston in a glassy-eyed stupor may wonder if she is in the park serenading the pigeons.
PR guru Max Clifford saw Houston at the Plymouth Jazz Festival in Tobago the previous week, and said she seemed “somewhere else” (Mirror). Or “out of this world”, as he surely meant.
This is the real deal, and Houston’s audience are stars to a man.
The Sun says other legends at the Legends Ball were “DAVID GEST, EMMA NOBLE and MICHELLE HEATON”.
Legends does not overstate the matter.
The Mirror also spots Kelli Young, formerly of reality TV group Liberty X. And there’s Gemma Atkinson, or GEMMA, as the Sun would rightly call her…

Judging by the hairstyle, she was in a wind tunnel.

We were fortunate to be at the ball. Whitney Houston was truly amazing. The event raised a huge amount of money for a fantastic charity.
All I can say is thank you, you were amazing and it was a pleasure to see you sing.

I was fortunate to be at the Ball too and I agree with Colin, she was amazing! She made such a fuss of the disabled children who were there - something they will remember for ever, and that’s what it was all about. Gloria - don’t you class Buzz Aldrin, Mickey Rooney, Jane Russell, Tippi Hedren , Joan Collins, Sally Ann-Howes & Nigel Benn as legends? - I certainly do! and they were all there. Don’t believe everything you read - maybe the Sun’s idea of legends is Jordan, Pete Doherty & Jodie Marsh - I believe they were at the OK bash. Having been invited to both I chose class over crass.
