sorry to reply to the same post but,

'Whether he realises it or not, Gerry comes across as having grossly overestimated his own abilities. And that is not an alpha male characteristic…'

i tend to agree with that too, i see gerry as someone who has worked hard to be where he is, and i think that's quite far considering the degree in sports medecine. i hate to get personal but this whole thing does wind me up.

I have proceeded ever since on the premise that, if a Nobel Prize winner thought that getting stuck into explaining and debating things was the right way to go, then there is no excuse for people further down the greasy pole claiming that it’s all too difficult for we lesser mortals to understand.

i have to agree with that, if you can't explain it you dont undetrstand it.

Sam-sorry had a great storm last night-but it outed the power so had to close down earlier than planned. read your comments today though.

2 random thoughts-not related.

Could the McGuckins sue the McCanns for their treatment in Portugal and subsequent curtailment of holiday?

If it happened as they say-and they were not comatosed through alcohol-they are paying the price for the Mccanns as Brits on holiday are now treated with overcaution as Portuguese don’t want ‘another 3 maddies’

Also the cadaver dogs. If M died in the appartment by abductor/whoever-the scent of death could have been on articles subsequently transported in Renault-meaning that body didn’t necessarily travel in car.

BTW-if ever I go to Portugal I will have my child photographed with me every 20 mins timed and dated on camera-sipping a diet coke-and I’ll defo not put a braid in her hair-I shall have witnesses at every meal time and have her DNA’d on entry to any creche-and on the way out to avoid any confusion.

Then again I may just go to Greece!!!!

I thought my post so fascinating I thought I'd post it again.

Was there no powerpoint for explaining things back in the olden days Chenier?

-----------------------------------------

Indeed not, we are, after all referring to the 1960s.

It's about the only thing I do remember from the 1960s...

That and the fact that my mother's home made wine, created by throwing in whatever she felt like, tasted much better than the stuff made by the bio-chemist, who, proceeding in the immaculately scientific fashion which had earned him his Nobel Prize, produced stuff which smelled like cat pee.

This was a source of some distress to him...

......I certainly am not referring to eating in the tapas bar having left the children asleep in the apartment. That might be negligence but I certainly don’t think it’s what their lawyer is referring to when he says there is no evidence against them? They admitted it, from day one. Of course, their checks may have been less frequent than they said, although the waiter’s reported evidence seemed to support them. However, I’m not talking about the negligence matter. That is a separate issue for which there is some evidence in the public domain and may well be more in the police files. If they are convicted of criminal neglience in leaving the children, but not of anything else, it still leaves the possibility that another criminal, who took Madeleine, is still out there.

------------

But then you are contradicting yourself; criminal negligence is certainly criminal involvement, as the gentleman from Colwyn Bay has discovered...

......Chenier , he is Alpha in his own family grouping, he’s not fareing too well outside of it, and he should if he is alpha socially too, what do you think? (large fish in v. small pond?)

--------------------------------------------

I think you have hit the nail on the head; it is a very small pond, and Gerry doesn't seem to be someone who has the quality to go beyond that narrow location.

It has been my experience that people who are genuinely confident of their abilities don't, on the whole, make a big deal about how clever they are every time they open their mouths.

I remember back in 1968 James Watson published 'The Double Helix'; I was somewhat surprised to discover that a family friend had a Nobel Prize in bio-chemistry, and was thus extremely good at explaining it all to me.

As scientists rank these things he was certainly an alpha male, but he was perfectly happy to talk, at length, to an inquisitive teenager with not much scientific knowledge without being in any way condescending.

He was even happy to argue with the inquisitive teenager about the possible implications, with nary a flowchart in sight.

I have proceeded ever since on the premise that, if a Nobel Prize winner thought that getting stuck into explaining and debating things was the right way to go, then there is no excuse for people further down the greasy pole claiming that it's all too difficult for we lesser mortals to understand.

Whether he realises it or not, Gerry comes across as having grossly overestimated his own abilities. And that is not an alpha male characteristic...

Funny you should say that. In my recent travels, 'within 50 mtrs of the apartment' as they say, I counted no less than five gentlemen strolling past, all of whom had long hair in a pony tail and gold earrings.
Huh! Spoilt for choice, I thought. Praia da Luz is full of 'em! Until one strolled back the other way and I realised that he did, indeed, only have one arm. Spent the rest of the day wondering how you put hair in a pony tail with one arm?
Never got round to wondering how you 'abduct' a child with one arm. I shall ponder now.

Theories NO 348,379, 386, 941, and 1012 all rolled into one sentence?

Maria is going for the jackpot prize I think.

Oh! Forgot about {EDIT} it would be criminal if true - the selling of {EDIT} Madeleine (whom they hated, of course!) into slavery, all being involved in sinister medical experiments which went wrong, pretending- she's- gone- but -knowing- all -along- she's- OK- and -will- be -coming- home -soon, being involved in international child-trafficking, engaging in drugs and sex orgies while neglecting the children..... All pretty criminal, I think? {EDIT} If true

Must be others?!

Ah yes....pretending to be catholics but really being very bad ones (IVF).

And of course, let's not forget .....making friends with anglicans, even praying their churches? Not sure how criminal that is, though! Just shows Mcs are generally nasty people, maybe??

Enjoy the crumbs.....birthday cake?

BUT.....whoosh.....clunk! ......gone! For good.
