Madeleine McCann: A Solicitor Writes To The Express
LITTLE news in the Express of the paper’s once ubiquitous missing cover girl Madeleine McCann.
One reason could be that Express Newspapers have received a solicitor’s letter from the so-called Tapas 7 threatening to sue the paper in relation to “a number of articles”.
All ‘Our Maddie’ related content has been purged from the newspapers’ websites.
Can we expect another generous donation to the McCann fighting fund soon, and Madeleine to reappear on the papers’ front pages, albeit for one day only?

Nevermind, Duncan I found my way.
The Maddie link on the black border at the top doesn’t want to work for me,
but I got there via the sidebar.
You are so nice!
Even given your odd taste in pets.

what a very bigioted take on knowledge. From the US so therefore can’t understand the British Diplomatic Service?
Do you think they don’t have newspapers and the internet anywhere other than the UK?
I wonder who gives me my information on the US poitical scene?
_____________
Good morning, C&C! Yes one does get information frm the newspapers and internet but then you get their slant on it. I’d rather go straight to the horse’s mouth for mine. But really it is not just who you know but what you learn from them. You gain knowledge, history of past events, current events and you ask intelligent questions you receive intelligent answers and explanations from their hands on experiences and profound knowledge of the world events past and present.

Are there any comments here about the fact that Gerry is elected to the board of SPCA ?

Cheryl, as a US citizen, is surprisingly knowledgeable about the British diplomatic service.
I wonder who informs/advises her?
_________
Oh well this answer should blow Julie’s mind who is always sniping at me about who I know. How about a many years wonderful dear old friend who was and is a world-renowed Diplomat and we talk all most everyday over coffee or tea and let’s just say he still travels over there upon the invitation of the British Government to partake of his knowledge to them? Rather a favourite of the BBC also here in DC. Then of course there is another retired Ambassador who was over there for years we sit and talk quite often also. However, I’ll refrain from saying anything about someone who is in your papers and well known over there I’ve been friends with for 20 years and we keep in contact and discuss both countries politics on at least a weekly basis and my perceptions of the people over there which often has them in laughter and many times in agreement. I also travelled back and forth for 7 years over there and now travel over to vacation.

There are other words such as smartarse which can be acceptable as a combination.

Well i hope peeps have a good old read because for me it would appear that the supposed Portuguese method of trial by media has actually worked on many people.
They buy into it, post on forums and form the pack mentality.
Of course you will always get the cynics and bigots who will question the source of the misinformed leaks that they readily buy into.
Well it certainly cant be the McCanns can it? Afterall, Gerry darent even tell us if he knew Murat or not for worry of breaching Portuguese secrecy laws. Poor chap was so naive. Or was it just cornered by a system he put his faith into finding his daughter?
And poor old Kate? Why would she believe Madeleine was abducted? Afterall, finding the doors and shutters apparently open would be madness to think she had been taken and of course bearing in in mind of course that she must have closed the patio door behind her.
Kate
Were not as daft as you think you know. We know that on discovering your missing daughter your first thoughts were to open the shutters to create the abduction scene thus to protect your career. You’re clever, but not clever enough to fool me unfortunagtely because I am the leader of the pack!
Sardine anyone?

Carmen - Chill darlin. I actually thought when you mentioned ‘your curvaceous form that we all know and love’ that you were actually having a larf. Trust me eh for getting it wrong
Anyway, here’s the link i forgot to post that you could quite easily have asked for……….
http://lionheartuk.blogspot.com/2007/12/any-evidence-or-leads-in-police-enquiry.html
Administrator: I happen to think Carmen’s instincts about this are correct. Garth you have been around the site long enough to know that an unattributed cut ‘n’ pate will get nowhere and now you have x-refered it …it turns out to be six months old. Not at all up to your usual standard. Hung-over, man-flu? Or simple story fatigue and jaundiced? From my perspective it remains Not On. Anorak remains (despite our best efforts sometimes to scare posters to death with techie stuff) a topical news site. Stay on thread and newsworthy and there should be no problems. -agw

Fifth British diplomat to leave office after the disappearance of Madeleine
Celia Edwards, the British Consul in Portimão, known for having accompanied Kate and Gerry McCann during their interrogations in September 2007, has officially announced her resignation from the post she has occupied for less than one year in Portugal. She becomes the fifth official from the Foreign Office to leave her post after being involved in the McCann case.
The information has already been confirmed by the Foreign Office in London, which gave family reasons for justifying the departure of Consul.
Before her, John Buck, ambassador, and Bill Henderson, consul, had also left their positions. The first of August 2007, Celia Edwards replaced Bill Henderson, after the surprise announcement of his resignation.
Bill Henderson had given up all connections with the Foreign Office and took his retirement after accompanying all meetings between the McCanns and inspectors of the Policia Judiciaria.
Later, it is the British ambassador in Lisbon, John Buck, who ends his career, September 10, 2007, the day after the escape of Kate and Gerry McCann to the UK after having been designated arguidos (suspects).
John Buck was replaced by Alexander Wykeham Ellis, Adviser to the President of the European Commission.
Two envoys of the Foreign Office in Praia da Luz have also left their positions: Sheree Dodd and Clarence Mitchell.
Sheree Dodd, a former journalist - as was Clarence Mitchell - is now responsible for communications for Michael Martin, Speaker of the House of Commons.
Clarence Mitchell, former head of the Media Monitoring Unit in the Blair government, finally being hired by the multimillionaire Brian Kennedy, whose unique mission was to become the spokesman for Kate and Gerry McCann.

Considering the length of time you have been around Anorak, there was no need to ask. You are well aware of the rules.
We are very busy today following the upgrade.
If you wish to debate on the news item above, within the T & C fine.
If you wish to post your own opinions, within the T & C, then fine.
If you wish to be clever and cut and paste unsourced opinions from other people, which make definitive statements for which Anorak risks legal action, then you are liable to find yourself spending the entire day in moderation.
I have neither the time nor the inclination to play games today.

These are statements you are making Garth, not Opinions, as such they need to be properly referenced and backed up.
It is obvious that you have cut and pasted this from somewhere else, and I am busy finding out where.

Whats the deal about ‘effort’ all of a sudden? Is it because you personally dont like it?
MODS AND ADMIN
Who mentioned effort?
And why so confrontational all of a sudden? You are well aware of the rules on posting in Anorak.
And that moderation has nothing to do with whether we like something or not.
