Outrage Over Mail’s Use Of Police Dog On Muslims

muslim-puppy-300x216 Outrage Over Mails Use Of Police Dog On MuslimsCONSIDER if you will the image used to advertise Tayside Police’s new non-emergency phone number.

Says the Mail’s headline: “Muslims outraged at police advert featuring cute puppy sitting in policeman’s hat.”

The dog is black. The phone is a creamy white. Read into it what you will. And wonder if Rebel, the featured beast, is best able, however good his training, to field phone calls in the manner of a more technical adept Lassie?

Says the Mail:

The advert has upset Muslims because dogs are considered ritually unclean and has sparked such anger that some shopkeepers in Dundee have refused to display the advert.

Or not. No shopkeeper has refused to put the picture of the dog in their private shop.

Says Dundee councillor Mohammed Asif:

My concern was that it’s not welcomed by all communities, with the dog on the cards. It was probably a waste of resources going to these communities.

That is the “outrage”, one councillor making his voice heard and the police listening to his concern that their efforts might be for nought.

“SHOULD THE POLICE HAVE APOLOISED?” asks the Star in “PUPPY AD COPS SAY CORRY TO MUSLIMS.”,

The local constabulary have apologised but not for any offence to Muslims, rather for an “oversight” that could have reduced the impact of their campaign.

Are you outraged?

I suppose a pig wearing the hat was out of the question then?

  2. Anorak Says:

It’s not the Muslims complaining it’s the tabloids complaining about Muslims who might complain about the tax payer wasting money on unused posters…

    Mr Asif should be thanked

  3. JuneJohnson Says:

Rebel is an English name anyway, and wasn’t Churchill known as the British Bulldog.

    here Boys walkies!!!!

  4. dairy Says:

..is there no end to their hyper-sensitivity…..?

  5. PeterMac Says:

Just imagine if the advert had used an unveiled woman !!

  6. dairy Says:

…are they not allowed to sit in hats either…?

  7. jason farmer Says:

I heard that the dog was female, from Israel and was accused of howling during prayers and that’s why they were offended!

  8. dairy Says:

Allah protect us from female Jewish dogs barking!!! if that’s all they’ve got to worry about, they’ve got a very nice life!!

  9. gordon Says:

In a bit we are going to have to ask the Muslims if its ok with them, before the rest of us do anything.

  10. Gandolf Says:

What do you mean in a bit ?

  11. wendy Says:

This kind of stupidity reminds me why I emigrated away from Britain 6 months ago.

  12. carol Says:

If the Muslims don’t like Western ways, why are they HERE??? They should go back to where they feel comfortable and leave us alone! It’s not up to a host country to bend to immigrants’ ways. It’s up to the immigrants (legal or otherwise) to adopt the ways of their adopted country — or LEAVE!

  13. Unlixes Says:

Are the comments to this post satirical? There seems to be a lot darkie-baiting going on, when the tone of the post itself was that, actually, it was a bit of friendly advice. We Here In The West think cutsie puppies aww diddums blessum are a good advert, the Muslim community, apparently, don’t. So, if you wanted an advert that appealed to everyone, a widdle puppy-wuppy was probably a bit of a waste of time.

That sounds like cold hard supply and demand capitalist common sense to me. Not ditzy leftie racial pandering.

In fairness, if I’d seen the advert my first reaction would’ve been, what the fuck’s the dog doing on there?

Or am I taking these comments too seriously? Shit. Better play along before I start to look hypersensitive.

Yeah! What is their problem, them and their silly ways, they should stick to their own kind if they have a problem with what we do. Then they can put their own ads in their windows in their shops.

  14. Dave Says:

Cllr Asif is on the police board in Dundee and demanded an apology from the police because he claimed that his constituants were deeply offended. He later backtracked somewhat. Still, he got the apology he was after…
