cristiano Sepp Blatter And Why Cristiano Ronaldo Is No Darren FergusonSEPP Blatter, the FIFA president, is musing on Cristiano Ronaldo’s move from Manchester United to Real Madrid:

“I think in football there’s too much modern slavery in transferring players or buying players here and there, and putting them somewhere.”

The Sun is outraged and in “Sepptic Blatter” says the FIFA boss is a “disgrace”.

“To say that [Alex] Ferguson has treated the pampered multi-millionaire Ronaldo as a slave is a disgusting insult. Sir Alex has treated Ronaldo almost like a son…”

Almost, but not quite.

Ronaldo is being criticised – he says Blatter is “right”. The Sun says Ronaldo is “disgusting”.

This the Ronaldo, the PFA’s player of the year for the second straight season who passed George Best’s club-record 32 goals scored in a season by a winger, scoring 42 in all.

He’s no Darren Ferguson?

Sir Alex brought Darren through the youth ranks at United, where he made 27 first-team appearances over four years, though he failed to score. Never really covering himself in glory at Old Trafford, he was sold to Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1994 for £250,000. He spent half a season at Molineux before being loaned to Chelsea [rubbish before the money bought success] for six months, but was rarely used at Stamford Bridge.

He made 117 League appearances at Wolves before falling out of favour in 1999. He was briefly loaned abroad, helping Sparta Rotterdam to avoid relegation, before moving to Wrexham on a free transfer later that year. He went on to play 300 games for them, winning a promotion medal from the Third Division in 2002 and a winner’s medal from the LDV Vans Trophy in 2005.
