Madeleine McCann: The English In Portugal, Danie Krugel And Entertainment

kate-mccann1-211x300 Madeleine McCann: The English In Portugal, Danie Krugel And Entertainment MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann

THE SUN: “UK cops in McCann talks”

BRITISH police have met Portugal’s public prosecutor to discuss handing over evidence into the Maddie McCann probe. Local cops are set to close the case on Monday and clear parents Kate and Gerry over their daughter’s disappearance.

Yesterday a Portuguese newspaper claimed British cops tried to stop information – including the results of a DNA test on the McCanns’ hire car – from being made public.

DAILY MAIL: “British police failed to stop DNA evidence in McCann case from being made public”

Under the headline ‘English in Portimao to Protect Secrecy’, the newspaper Correio da Manha claimed two Leicestershire officers tried to stop information - including results of a DNA test on a sample from the McCanns’ Renault Scenic hire car - from being made public…

Last night, Leicestershire police refused to discuss the details of a meeting between public prosecutor Jose Cunha de Magalhaes e Meneses and the officers.

DAILY TELEGRAPH: “Madeleine McCann: police case set to be dropped”

The police investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann is expected to be shelved on Monday and the three formal suspects linked to the case - including her parents - cleared of any suspicion…

Expected. By whom?

The McCanns’ spokesman, Clarence Mitchell, said the couple had heard nothing official from their lawyers in Portugal. “Kate and Gerry are waiting to see what the Attourney General has to say on Monday like everyone else,” he said. “They are well aware of the reports suggesting that the case may about to be closed.”

THE TIMES: “Madeleine McCann: Police discuss what evidence will be made public”

In recent weeks Portuguese newspapers, citing anonymous sources, have repeatedly reported that the investigation would be shelved shortly, but could be reopened if new evidence emerged.

It’s an open and shut and open case.

CANADA FREE PRESS: “Putting the Focus back where it belongs

“The focus must be placed on Prai de Luz. I hope the test results put the focus back on Maddie,” said the email that reached Canada Free Press (CFP) this morning.

Had anybody but Danie Krugel sent the email, I would not have got the jolt of adrenalin upon reading it.

Former South African police superintendent Danie Krugel has been quietly working on the Maddie case—with the consent of her parents, Gerry and Kate McCann, using the Matter Oriented System (MOS) equipment he has developed.

Danie Krugel is the Locator. Wow! Indeed.

THE GUARDIAN: “What to pack with your beach towel - Justine Jordan on love and war, family crises, lost dogs and cosmonauts”

A more familiar world finds its expert guide in Gordon Burn’s Born Yesterday: The News as a Novel (Faber, £7.99), set in that mysterious hinterland, the recent past. Burn scrutinises the events and obsessions of last summer - terrorist scares and flood alerts, the absences of Tony Blair and Madeleine McCann - finding connections and correspondences as he muses on the way news reportage borrows the techniques of Hollywood and politicians become mythical characters.

Madeleine MCcann: That’s entertainment…

    Good morning!

  2. SteveT Says:

Will we ever get any decent honest press reporting or is it all manipulated by spin doctors? How many times has Clarrie managed to get “arguido status being dropped” into press reports over the months.

  3. Lone Pigeon Says:

ummmm about 1050 I would say! Morning MrT

  4. Rasputin Says:

The Portuguese may have confused paediatrician, with the P word.

  5. SteveT Says:

    Hello lone!

    Rasputin - Very possible!

  6. hannasus Says:

No, I don’t think that the words are easily mistaken.
Imagine if this was true that there had been paedophile allegations against him.
Perhaps certain people knew, and used this as a threat when needing alibis and such - emotional blackmail.
    Something we have discussed often.
Imagine now that it has become obvious that [EDIT] **** [EDIT] has changed his story
then what good timing is it for this story to come out.
The thing is if this absurdity were to have any validity then it would fail, because whilst his secret might be out - the truth has been put out there, and filed with the judiciary.
Maybe it could be a warning to others along the way who “have secrets” to back off now before theirs are also revealed.
To me this is what it is about -
Time to pull out the stops.

I have edited your post - pending the full paper copy of Correio da Manha we are exercising caution with this story.

    Good morning!

I’m going away on hol for a few days but needed my morning news fix first!

Have I missed something? (The two p’s)

Is this connected with the story, true or not, of the UK police trying to have some things kept secret?

  8. Maria Says:

BTW, my post went straight through then in the normal way!

Only our mysterious shadowy friend remains!

  9. hannasus Says:

    Thanks Carmen.

  10. Maravilha Says:

    paediatrician > pediatra

    paedophile > pedófilo

    (translation into Portuguese).

  11. Noseycow Says:

    Morning all

So have I missed anything interesting? ;)

  12. Maria Says:

    Carmen

I’ve just read said story myself in Portuguese. Not difficult to understand even though I don’t speak Portuguese.

Presume all the online dailies here will be on to it in a trice…but I’m about to go so will miss it all today.

  13. DuncanR Says:

    Noseycow

That remains to be seen !

  14. Maravilha Says:

    Rasputin,

do you think the PJ is confusing the words paedriatician with paedophile?

    I don’t think so.

Let us hope that Correio da Manhã is mistaken.

But would they take the risk to make up such a terrible story?

And poor Madeleine spending holiday with an [alleged - dr] paedophile?

  15. Noseycow Says:

I’m sorry to pour a dampener on this latest ‘news’.

If it is correct then information regarding it would only be published following a criminal conviction. (At least I hope that is the case).

If a doctor had been convicted of such crimes they would bestruck off.

Has any one checked the BMI’s website to see whether he is still licensed to practice?

  16. Noseycow Says:

    Duncan

Something very interesting has happened. I get an error message on posting and then have to reload the page, so my posts are now taking twice as long.

Roll on Tuesday when I’m expecting a delivery, and finally might be able to keep up…

  17. Noseycow Says:

Of course I meant GMC - got holidays on the brain at the moment

Sorry about the long link - either of these our man?

  18. DuncanR Says:

    Nosey,

As you know, us moderators are getting on a bit and the old arthritic fingers can’t type as fast as you young uns. The error message, and the need to reload the page after submitting a comment is a part of the recent upgrade to the site and is a cunning ruse to slow you youngsters down and give the mods a chance to keep up with you

  19. Noseycow Says:

    Duncan

AH! I see… in other words, a ‘Cock up’ ;)

  20. Noseycow Says:

Well it looks like nobody else is interested in the latest developments.. or are they all jetting away on holiday with the masses? Lucky buggers

  21. DuncanR Says:

    Noseycow

  23. Noseycow Says:

Is software glitch synonymous with upgrade? :???:

am I about to be banned???

then you all can take the morning off ;)

  24. agw Says:

I thought pedofilo was one of those daft little peddle things
No wonder they all ran away when I asked for one to float my boat.

  25. Noseycow Says:

  27. Carmen Says:

    Jo,

There is more than one Dr David Payne registered with the GMC.

  28. BabyJane Says:

    Who is “Dave” P.?

  29. Noseycow Says:

    Jo Morning

I agree - I hope it is a mistake rather than spin or rumour, but suspect that the damage may already be done.

How are you today? looking forward to Monday? What do you make of the Leicester Police meeting with the prosecuter?

  30. BabyJane Says:

    I’m afraid I can’t post.
