MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann, Kate McCann and Gerry McCann…
Trawling through the McCanns files, the press is looking for clues that the Potuges police are useless and for 15 months missed something a tabloid hack will now spot :
The 17th and final volume of the McCann files contains the final 58-page report written by public prosecutors Jose de Magalhaes e Menezes and Joao Melchior Gomes.
“They could not predict that in the resort they chose to spend their holidays they could place the life of any of their children in danger,” they wrote.
It went on:
“This includes, the most dramatic thing, ascertaining whether she is still alive or dead - which seems the most probable.”
What crime took place, if any?
“The investigators are well aware that their work is not exempt from imperfections,” the prosecutors said.
“They worked with an enormous margin of error and they achieved very little in terms of conclusive results, especially with regards to the fate of the unfortunate child.”
Madeleine’s disappearance was not a plot from a book, but a serious crime. It is also not a film.
“This is not, unfortunately, a police story, a crime fit for the investigative mind of a Sherlock Holmes or a Hercule Poirot, guided by the illusion that the forces of law and justice always restore order.”
The Mail has a new efit prpoduced form teh wrods offred up by British tourist Derek Flack, from Ilford, Essex.
Another efit was produced of a man with a side parting and slightly longer hair was provided with the help of a Portuguese man.

I like the Poem…err, is there a meaning to it relevant to our posting. I did think it might
be to do with beguiling the McCanns into a false sense of security and at the last minute
dropping a bombshell, or is it that you just wanted us to enjoy the Poem.
It”s late and I am signing off,see what tomorrow brings.

The Spider turned him round about, and went into his den,
For well he knew the silly Fly would soon come back again:
So he wove a subtle web, in a little corner sly,
And set his table ready, to dine upon the Fly.
Then he came out to his door again, and merrily did sing,
“Come hither, hither, pretty Fly, with the pearl and silver wing;
Your robes are green and purple — there’s a crest upon your head;
Your eyes are like the diamond bright, but mine are dull as lead!”

I never liked Gordon, such a dour man. He”s been told to smile more, but it”s hardly
an improvement.
All the Hype about this cautious Chancellor is bull***t. He inherited a very good economic position, sold have the Gold reserves for a paltry sum when now the profit
would have wiped out our borrowing. Taxed the Country up to the eyeballs, but made
sure the rich got richer, I could go on.
Teflon Tony is equally to blame, he had ten years as Prime Minister and there is not one Department functioning well.

The British Press, to their shame are being drip fed this info and are obviously cherry
picking what to feed the public.
There was a report which I posted a couple of days ago and was moderated but was far
more informative than anything we have been told by the Press. If you get a chance,
go to SOSMaddie, I think it”s the 3rd August. Not only does it give you the 48 questions, it tells youwho all the important witnesses are, how long they were interviewed for and by whom, and how there was interference from McCann friends.

About nearly 20.000 pages.
Was there time enough for journalists to analyse them before they start writing responsible stories?

IMO No excuse for writing irresponsible stories …
Now I really have to go to bed.

Re this Amsterdam sighting in a shop last year. I’m in shock at CM’s quotes in the Telegraph today:
The couple’s spokesman Clarence Mitchell said: “If it was Madeleine, it was a disgrace that it was not passed on. We need to know what happened with this.”
“It is one of the mysteries of the whole thing and it is tragic that it should come this late on.”
“It is shocking, it is harrowing to read this account, whether it was Madeleine or not. It is harrowing to hear a child saying that.”
“We need to know if it was followed up properly by the police. If that hasn’t been done, that is exactly the kind of information that the private investigators are going to follow up.”
“It is frustrating beyond words and the worst thing is that all this time Madeleine has been let down by this lack of apparent co-ordination.”
They have the files and should know whether or not this has been followed up and if not, why not …

I read the other day that the Irish vote of 71% against the New Treaty has to be ignored
and the treaty Signed by Ireland or the Country could face expulsion from the EU,
so much for democracy !!!!!!! Poland Chechloslovakia and Germany are not too happy
about the way the Union is going either.
Did you know the accounts for the EU havn”t been signed off by an Auditor for 13 years? Disgraceful, everyone on the gravy train ,mountains of Food and Wine etc.
I think the EU should just be for Trade and Defence with each Country supplying
Military aid and a permanent fighting force on alert. Also, scrap the Human Rights
Bill in it”s current Form and all this Political Correctness.

This new treaty is the result of negotiations between EU member countries in an intergovernmental conference, in which the Commission and Parliament were also involved. The treaty will not apply until and unless it is ratified by each of the EU’s 27 members. It is up to each country to choose the procedure for ratification, in line with its own national constitution.

This is from the Daily mail:
A girl calling herself ‘Maddie’ and claiming she was taken from her mother while on holiday was seen in Amsterdam after Madeleine McCann vanished, case files show.
The secret documents gathered by police during their investigation into the three-year-old’s disappearance reveals possible sightings from around the world.
Revealed to the public for the first time this week, they show how a Dutch woman reported seeing a little girl who asked her: ‘Do you know where my Mummy is?’
NOW DO WE HONESTLY THINK THAT WITH ALL THE INTERNET BLOGS, FIND MADDIE SITES, CONTACTS THROUGH CLARRIE, REWARDS OFFERED ETC. ETC. THAT THE PERSON WHO REPORTED TO THE POLICE ALL OF THE ABOVE WOULD NOT HAVE ALSO POSTED IT ON A BLOG OR EVEN CONTACTED THIER OWN POLICE - OR AFTER A DAY OR TWO SEEING THAT NOTHING HAD BEEN DONE - EVEN CONTACTED THE MCCANNS DIRECT. I PERSONALLY DO NOT BELIEVE THAT THIS SITING WAS EVER ANYTHING TO WRITE HOME ABOUT - OTHERWISE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN ACTED UPON. STRANGE - IN MY OPINION - THAT ALL THIS HAPPENED WHILE THE MCS WERE IN HOLLAND - YOU CANT TELL ME THAT THERE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN A JOURNALISTIC LEAK ABOUT THIS - IT WOULD HAVE MADE HEADLINES PARTICULARLY AS THE MCS BEELINED FOR HOLLAND..

Taking Europe into the 21st century
Babies placed in circle forming the EU symbol
Europe is not the same place it was 50 years ago, and nor is the rest of the world.
In a constantly changing, ever more interconnected world, Europe is grappling with new issues: globalisation, demographic shifts, climate change, the need for sustainable energy sources and new security threats. These are the challenges facing Europe in the 21st century.
Borders count for very little in the light of these challenges. The EU countries cannot meet them alone. But acting as one, Europe can deliver results and respond to the concerns of the public. For this, Europe needs to modernise. The EU has recently expanded from 15 to 27 members; it needs effective, coherent tools so it can function properly and respond to the rapid changes in the world. That means rethinking some of the ground rules for working together.
The treaty signed in Lisbon on 13 December 2007 sets out to do just that. When European leaders reached agreement on the new rules, they were thinking of the political, economic and social changes going on, and the need to live up to the hopes and expectations of the European public. The Treaty of Lisbon will define what the EU can and cannot do, and what means it can use. It will alter the structure of the EU’s institutions and how they work. As a result, the EU will be more democratic and its core values will be better served.
The target date for ratification set by member governments is 1 January 2009 – some months before the elections to the European Parliament.

There was no shelf in the Apartment and Gerry said cuddlecat was on the bed.
Also, Kate said she felt a rush of air when she opened the door, but the photo in Sky
distinctly shows the shutters down outside the apartment so where did this “air ” come from.
