Madeleine McCann: With Columnists Lorraine Kelly And Deborah Orr
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann, Kate McCann and Gerry McCann
THE COLUMNISTS
LORRAINE KELLY (The Sun): “Watch your kids for Maddie’s sake”
It’s cellar-busting, tabloid bingo stalwart Lorraine Kelly:
OF all the many cruelties inflicted on Madeleine McCann’s parents, the possibility that their little girl begged an Amsterdam shop assistant for help shortly after she went missing is surely the deepest cut of all.
Begged? But it was Madeleine, right? Or Maddie as she - and the press - now know her by.
All of these cases could have been nothing more than mistaken identity, but we will never know for sure. More and more experts now believe that Madeleine, a stunningly beautiful child, was specifically targeted by a paedophile ring and “kidnapped to order”.
The experts. Or yes, them.
Without wanting to panic every parent with a cute little boy or girl under five, it is clear there are evil gangs of paedophiles who will stop at nothing to get their hands on little kids.
If only the kids weren’t so cute. Why can’t we have ugly kids? Life is soooo unfair! If paedos went for ugly kids then think of much safer and more blonde and beautiful the world would be?
I believe we desperately need some sort of Europe-wide anti-paedophile task force with enough money to be effective and enough expertise to smash these vile rings of perverts and sickos.
Something like the police? Yeah, what about a police force?
Without becoming paranoid we need to keep a watchful eye on our children and grandchildren at all times. Don’t think it could never happen to you.
It could be you. Although not if your kids are ugly, obviously.
That’s what Kate and Gerry McCann believed. They will spend the rest of their lives searching for their daughter and torturing themselves over whether she is alive or dead. And if she is still in the land of the living, just what sort of hell is she being subjected to?
Yeah, just imagine…
DEBORAH ORR (The Independent):
One of the many gross liberties that the media have taken in their reporting of the disappearance of Madeleine McCann is the widespread adoption of a diminutive epithet. No matter how often her distressed parents insisted that their daughter had always been known only as Madeleine, the fictitious intimacy of Maddie, or Maddy, endured.
Now an Amsterdam shop assistant, Ana Stam, claims that she talked to a girl who told her that her name was Maddie, and that she had been stolen from her parents. Maybe the Portuguese police were remiss in failing to take seriously this sighting. But in my experience a small child thinks that her name is what her parents say it is, and not what the press has christened her.
My name is Madeleine…

If I remember it well, the McCanns asked a man from South Africa to come to Praia da Luz and detect Madeleine’s body.It was on June of last year, I think. The man has a DNA machine and used Madaleine’s hair.
On Panorama BBC or Anatomy of a Mistery (RTP) you could hear an intervieuw with that man saying that Madelein’s body was in Praia da Luz.
If the Mccanns asked the man to come and to search for her body it is because they believed or even knew she was dead.
But I don’t remember them admiting her (eventual)death to the media.
They continued saying they “felt”"knew”she was still alive.

Three scotswomen are walking home at night (they are neighbors) and find
a scotsman passed out partially under a wagon. His upper body is
under the wagon and they can’t see who he is; however, they would like to
help him get home.
The first woman looks under his kilt and says, “It’s not my husband”.
The second woman looks under his kilt and says, It’s not my husband”.

Hi Fair
There is a lot more, particularly about “Police co-operation” or lack of it , apparently
the PJ did not know that the Police were going to hand over the Files.
I think the question Kate refused to answer about whether the McCanns had ever
considered putting Madeleine up for adoption has been misunderstood. It”s a
known fact that a QC advised the McCanns to have Madeleine made a Ward of Court
before they were made aguidos and it”s this that was referred to.IMO
Sky news are reporting a sighting on Monday in a Bank (can”t remember whether it”s in Belgium or Holland, this will go on and on and there will come a time when the
public will say ENOUGH and stop buying papers, hopefully.

“[...] Fiona Payne”s statement in April of this year says when she went to the apartment after Madeleine was missing, Kate was like a lunatic, flailing arms, punching walls etc. Fiona Payne said she tried to pacify her, the twins slept through all the commotion which Fiona could not understand saying “it was weird”.
+++++
She also said that “[...] Kate kept going into the twins, kept putting her hands on the twins to check they were breathing [...]” …

Last night I watched a YouTube video “the sighting lottery” by Thewayaheadm.
I saved it in Favourites, tried just now to transfer it to here, didnt work!!!!
All you clever people, will one of you try to post it here and tell me how to do it for future reference. Very funny.

Hi Val
It’s all wierd!
When you think you’ve heard it all another bombshell /revelation/eye opener comes along. So many twists & turns. Surely there has never been another case like this?
I keep saying that if you have nothing to hide then why not fully cooperate.
Hopefully the yet to be released info will shed more light? Or not?
I was in your neck of the woods, well Wales anyway, about 5 weeks ago. Castel Ned? We were visiting our son & family.
August 9th, 2008 at 3:52 pm
Afternoon Everyone
I think the McCanns will rue the day they went to the High Court to obtain the Files.
So far, it appears the PJ were diligent in checking the “sightings.”
I see there is no discussion on the latest translations of the files, are we banned from
relaying any info?
Fact: The Home Office were asked in May/June this year to agree that Gerry Mcann”s
bank details be made available . The Home Office replied that Statements for 6 months
was too intrusive and for the PJ to submit a revised request. The PJ never replied and
released the files a short while later.
Fiona Payne”s statement in April of this year says when she went to the apartment
after Madeleine was missing, Kate was like a lunatic, flailing arms, punching walls
etc. Fiona Payne said she tried to pacify her, the twins slept through all the commotion
which Fiona could not understand saying “it was weird”.
Apparently Control Risk, who were employed soon after Madeleine disappeared,
brought in experts to search the area but found nothing. PJ felt they were taking over
the investigation.

Chatelaine
Worth bearing in mind that a lot of people claim to use Control Risks since CR never confirms or denies that they have a particular client.
But they have extremely high standards, act only in an advisory capacity, and are very, very expensive.
And they won’t touch people who won’t take their advice…
August 9th, 2008 at 3:43 pm
My post 3:28 pm: “This is alarming and is the Risk Control! ” should read:
This is alarming AS is Risk Control …
We don’t want to think that traces have been risk controlled in the early days, do we?

That’s quite alright C&C, I understand.

Saul…. I was just about to come back to you with a pic of a chaise longue and an apology for jumping!
I used to have a green velvet one that i bought in a second-hand shop and kept in the hall but it became a dumping ground for bags and shopping and anything else that family members couldn’t be arsed to carry any further.
Jo…. if you look back you’ll see that was all discussed on here at the time and if I remember rightly Chenier and I were at odds over their involvement. surprise surprise
August 9th, 2008 at 3:16 pm
What ever they actually do - I think that the more we hear on a daily basis about these people K & G - the less their actions strike me as the normal reactions of parents who have suffered an accidental loss - but more like contriving parents trying, through scheming to keep one step ahead of any bad press - by hook or by crook !!
This Control Risks Group sound like their brief was to infiltrate and feed back information.
These are not normal people I fear…..

It’s certainly shit, all right, but not the heavy variety.
Prpblem is that people know bugger all about what Control Risks actually do, which means that fairy tales like this one keep coming up.
Try reading their website…
