Madeleine McCann: With Columnist Peter McKay
MADDIE WATCH - Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann, Kate McCann and Gerry McCann
THE COLUMNISTS
PETER McKAY (Mail):
MOST sightings of missing Madeleine McCann seem to involve Belgium and a paedophile ‘ring’ which might have kidnapped the child ‘to order’. Belgian police received more than 100 sightings, 30 of which required checking.
Do they?
But the latest - by British businessman Trevor Francis, 64 - was on the Venezuelan island of Margarita. Nursing home owner Francis, who keeps a yacht there, says a girl he thinks was ‘Madeleine’ came into a restaurant with three women - all of Latin origin - and had the telltale blemish in her right eye.
He did.
In one sighting, the girl involved said she was ‘Maddie’ and had been taken from her mother. Yet the McCanns say Madeleine was never known as ‘Maddie’ to them. It’s an abbreviation devised by newspapers so the name will fit headlines.

Kids are kidnapped and never revovered, that is for sure. But I think it often misses the target by authomatically assuming that pedophiles are the culprits. There are other, and even more sinister reasons for abducting a child. Among those are:
- Using the child as an organ donor.
- Using the child as a guinea pig in medical, psychological experiements.
- Stearing up the mind of common people for political reasons or power struggle.
And the culprits may be govermental organizantions operating secretly, mafia groups, corrupt medical institutions, private companies and any combination of these.

Garth - how about you, Gandolf and I play the good guy- bad guy strategy the police use with people? You two keeping rattling their chains, I so love Gandolf’s ‘expressive’ descriptions, and I’ll try being nice and use logic with them?
CHERYL….
and your chums..is it just
a game to you?? (Maria the main game player of course)
____________
Don’t you under what play good guy/bad guy is? Police use it all the time - pretty good psychological ploy. It is not a fucking game at all. One would think with some of you supposedly some of Europe’s most brilliant thinkers one would not have to explain expressions or sayings as if talking to first graders. Obviously I should watch the words I use such as playing when talking with such intelligent people. It works like this: one person takes on the role as the kind understanding person nice to whatever asshole they are dealing with and can many times get the person listening to them … the other acts’ the bad guy - mean acting, coming on strong, using more intimidation than an understanding role….
Maria is a very intelligent, articulate and well spoken woman and gets her points across quite well, presume her intelligence intimidates many of you especially those with superiority complexes who feel the need to find fault with anything she says!

You are right, Ade, they were neglectful just like many hundreds of others over there and here and other countries who feel it is safe to leave their children in a room or at home ……..
Cheryl, name one couple you know who go out on the piss leaving children under four to fend for themselves for hours at a time.
Never mind the foriegn country.
Never mind the crying child asked why they left her the night before.
Never mind complaints from neighbours.
Just name two people you know of who are in the habit of abandoning their children.
I bet you can’t even though hundreds do it all the time all over the place.
Strange that innit. Oink.

However, over the past many months on here, it has been as if one was on a farm listening to the barn yard animals.
I take it you were coralled with Daisy and the udders?
Or were you listening from your sty?
No disrespect to my Kunes!

The safest, best way of providing scent is via worn clothes. But perhaps everything had been washed already?
The family friend John? Corner mentioned the PJ calling and saying they were coming around to 5a to get materials for forensic testing. When they got there the washing machine was full of wet clothes.
I wonder if the washing was put on before the PJ said they were on their way. I doubt it myself. All hands to the pump I guess.
Although it’s small details like these that must raise other peoples suspicions.
Did he not wonder why the washing went on?
Did he not wonder why they said the window was forced when it wasn’t?
Does he not wonder about the dogs reactions?
Or the actual sighting of Gerry carrying Madeliene that night away from the complex by Mr. Smith?
Or the blood particles?
Or the timeline that is less reliable than British Rails timetables?
Or Statements akin to ‘find the body”, almost a challenge to the PJ?
Or……….
Or…………
Or………ad infinitum (almost)
Surely one of their friends or associates must wonder and question at least some of the hundreds of anomalies that have cropped up so far?
Or have they all been given the ‘D’ notice?

Now, every pregnant Moroccan nanny working illegally in Belgium, Netherlands, etc. taking care of pretty little blonde girls while their professionally-busy parents work work work will be falsely accused of working for paedo networks.
Doesn’t anyone think it odd that the supposed “abductors” of Madeleine would simply walk the child about, in public, in daylight, with no altering of her physical appearance, knowing for certain the amount of scrutiny that would attach to such “sightings?”
If one were suspected of “disappearing” one’s daughter, a surefire way to alleviate the pressure would be to point suspicion elsewhere, no? Is there any shortage of blond little girls holding hands with darker-skinned, kerchief-wrapped Moroccan women?
Think, Anorakers!

there is part of the cctv footage on Sky News site - but on TV it was much more - the one online shows the kid walking nearside - the one I saw definately showed her walking kerbside

Hi Nosey - Do you mean the cctv footage in Brussels? I can’t see any link on line - it was on Sky News just before midnight - I will have a look at the Sky site
August 12th, 2008 at 1:35 am
I recon, from watching the youtube bus - that it was Payne who was filming. If you check it out - there was G and K and their 3 kids, and Mrs Payne and her kid in the buggy and the other kid sitting next to Madeleine, and the mother in law - webster. None of the other Tapas lot seemed to be on the bus, so maybe the Mcs and the Paynes and Webster arrived together and the other lot arrived separately. It seems like a deliberate ploy to show GM as a grumpy git. Is there a way to find out the date and time that this clip was originally put on youtube - I wonder?
August 12th, 2008 at 1:30 am
annie
do you have a link to the video - I can’t seem to find it?
August 12th, 2008 at 1:25 am
Sam - I know that it is of course possible for veiled women to have their children in traditional european dress - but I have watched the cctv footage on tv and the two DO look awkward together - bit like a school teacher with a pupil, or somone distant but trusted with the kid. In my opinion, it did not look like a mum and daughter. AND to woman had the kids hand, but the kid was kerbside - I would never let my granddaughter walk nearest the roadway - I always have her on the inside. Maybe I am just over cautious, but I think that most parents would not walk along a busy street with the kid nearest the traffic?? I cant get to the bottom of this report - I know that it was a bank security who picked up on the images, but did the two just go past the bank, or did they actually go into the bank? If they went in, then there would be a good chance of the tiller remembering the transaction, and be able to trace the woman…

According to the NotW, the McCanns are taking this one seriousley
after the pink one announced the other day that they don’t get emotionally involved in the sightings. sigh.
Annie1 - I agree its odd, but someone in the group/close to the group must have posted it. It may have been a mistake though, they released part of the footage showing Madeleine tripping up the stairs, perhaps they didn’t look too closely at what else was on the video? (good to see you’re still around
)

Nothing wrong with your post is there?
we ALL find the parents behaviour strange don’t we?
remind me - is it Garthy or gandy who has the sister married to a co in Portugal?
August 12th, 2008 at 1:16 am
That youtube bus clip - I have probably asked this before, but WHO put it on youtube and quite honestly why? It must have been one of the TAPAS lot, and in my opinion, whoever put it on - was hell bent on showing GM in a bad light. Does anyone know, what it put on before or after the 3 may

was thinking about the scent / route that the sniffer dogs followed.
If they were given madeleine’s scent 5 days after she disapeared, how do they know that the route she ‘took’ was from the night she disapeared? Why couldn’t it have been from a previous day when she went out with the nannies for example?
How long does scent last? I’m suprised that they didn’t pick up more myself.

British woman wanted to help the couple
Yvone was on holidays in the Algarve when she heard that Maddie had disappeared. The technician, who is an expert in cases of endangered children, rushed to offer her help, but later guaranteed to the police that she had not been well accepted. Yvone also said that David Payne, one of the friends, had advised the McCanns not to speak to her. She found the parents’ behaviour strange.
