F*cked In Dubai: The Defence Of Vince Acors And Michelle Palmer

MR VINCE Acors is accused of having al fresco sex with one Michelle Palmer in Dubai, and in breach of local laws.

Anorak rarely comments on cases sub judice, but would like to commend your attention to the words of the defending lawyer Hassan Matter. Says he, as told by the Daily Express:

“One witness said they saw what happened, but they saw from a long distance. The beach was far away. How can they see? It’s wrong.

The policeman is wrong also. Why did he go by himself? A police car has two people. Why didn’t he bring his friend as a witness?

He said he used his torch. This means that the other witness is wrong because how did the witness see without using a torch?”

It’s the kind of defence that causes Anorak to wish Mr Acers and Ms Palmer the very best of luck…

Both Palmer and Acors maintain their innocence.

  1. 1 chenier Says:

Be reasonable; the guy has got the right idea.

    Dispute the facts…

  2. 2 SpongeBob Says:

Classic stuff.. but they are up for a spell in the Jumeria Hilton

  3. 3 chenier Says:

    Rubbish!

    The lawyer’s playing a blinder!

    Improbable as it may seem…

  4. 4 SpongeBob Says:

I know Dubai well. .. it’s very tolerant, considering the alternatives. But they were fannies. Beyond belief - you would find few ex-pats defending them.

Saw a mate about 10 years ago narrowly missing jail for (extreme) drunk driving.. that’s tolerant, given that legally, there’s a no alcohol policy for driving. Cost him a huge amount of money, for various reasons, his job and his marriage.

For years, the coppers would take a drunk home, despite it being illegal to be pissed in public. I was, far too many times, but I didn’t go challenging coppers or shagging in public. I guess there are limits. It’s not even that quiet in the place they were shagging, even late at night. There are few open beaches left in Dubai.

If you challenged a copper in Glasgow, chances are they’d find something to charge you with. Did they come from some nice rural country place?

  5. 5 chenier Says:

They do seem to have been extraordinarily stupid.

I assume that the lawyer is challenging the lack of witnesses because under Islamic law there are requirements for specific numbers of witnesses for various offences…

  6. 6 SpongeBob Says:

Yes, re. requiring more than one witness, I’m not sure if this is the case. But I wouldn’t be surprised and would be impressed if they are let off, given that this is an Islamic country, however liberal.

The coppers there are generally very decent, and the fact (as was reported) that he gave them a warning, then they carried on with the shagging, supports this (but beggars belief).

The champagne brunches are mighty though.

  7. 7 dairy Says:

Chenier - only if you’re female…. if you’re male it seems you can get away with anything…

  8. 8 chenier Says:

Indeed so, but in this case I’m fairlyhopeful that one of the two people on trial is male.

    For their sakes…

  9. 9 john Says:

The Lawyer also stated that her DNA and medical reports were negative. Also there was never any caution first or any kind of attack or abuse. She works in media and the breaking story was ‘media politics’ hence the companies logo as big as her picture. She’s been stitched up by ex- colleagues & employees unfortunately and made world news based on lies. She was drunk, has very little memory, never went to the beach purposely they were dropped there by mistake and she didn’t know she was on the beach and no didn’t have sex. Please people don’t comment on somebody until you know the true facts. Also why’s it all her in the headline news and not the guy? Due to the media coverage she’s lost her job and been publicly shamed, give her a chance for the truth to come out.

  10. 10 Janice Says:

fact is you are responsible for your own behviour. (drunk? dropped off by mistake? very little memory ?- convenient ) - sounds like a bunch of excuses to me
a: its the UAE - they are very tolerant of expats int heir country and provide a safe working environment for us to enjoy as long as we show respect
no where else are you permitted to have S*x on a beach. here you arent allowed to kiss someone in public - they are okay with holding hands and are tolerant with expats tourists and honeymooners but there are rules. i have been warned very politely about kissing my boyfriend - you jsut know you dont do it again. she is in the headlines because she was a resident and he was a tourist - very different ballgames!
