Stephanie Bysh stood accused of the most stupid of mistakes. After the disappearance of Madeline McCann the idea of leaving a child alone for even a moment was unthinkable to any mother in the country.
No mother should leave a child alone in Portugal for a second. No, make that a split second… Hell, you might end up selling your story to a magazine:
The “single mother” tells Closer magazine:
“I stopped taking it before the holiday, but the most I drank was two bottles of wine in a day. I was tipsy, but never drunk. Ariella was well cared for at all times. I was never out of control.”
Everyone was happy living in a small glass box with an invisible dog, eating peeled grapes…
Things took a turn for the worse when her purse containing all her money was stolen and the pair were forced to move in with a local mime artist Stephanie had befriended.
So what happened?
However trouble started when a new tenant moved into the flat and took a disliking to Stephanie. After a heated argument he reported her to the police for neglect and Ariella was taken into care.

“A police officer said there had been a complaint about me neglecting my daughter. I wasn’t even given the chance to have my say before they took her away. Ariella was hysterical and wouldn’t let go of me. They told me she’d only be by herself for a few hours and then I’d be able to join her, but that didn’t happen.”
To Faro. Then:
Three days later she was moved to a children’s home in nearby Loule, where officials said she was healthy and showed no signs of neglect. After waiting three weeks for the courts to reopen in September, Stephanie was released without charge and returned to her north London home with Ariella. She is now back on her medication and daughter Ariella has returned to school.
And… And nothing. Not even a comment on our Maddie. Some people have no idea. For shame!
ITN: “Public interest in McCann case tested”

British police will consider whether it is in the public interest to release information about their involvement in the Madeleine McCann inquiry.
She’s our Maddie, so…
Leicestershire Constabulary, which led the British side of the investigation for their counterparts in Portugal, said it must apply the ‘public interest test’ before agreeing to disclosure.
Isn’t everything in the public’s interest?
Linda Dempsey, of the force’s data protection department, said:
“An initial meeting has now been held and from this we are still in the process of preparing the Public Interest Test regarding the intended response. It will be necessary to consult with other agencies to assist in this matter in order for us to give the due consideration that must be given to such a high profile case and the need to balance the needs for disclosure or not.”
Might it help keep Madeleine in the news?
Ms Dempsey added: “At the heart of this tragic case is an innocent little girl who went missing in May 2007.”
At the heart? That’s all it is. Nothing more…

I lived in New England for two years and it is lovely to visit. You will enjoy Boston. You all are probably in bed across the Pond ready to get up in a few hours. However, unless I’m mistaken isn’t cctv those security cameras that takes pics all the time? Why wouldn’t it help no matter who was responsible for Madeleine’s disappearance? She had to be carried out somewhere, some time, correct? Child in arms, big bundle carried, etc. that would be on film anything suspicious would be picked up on, I presume. On second thought, ridiculous of me to presume anything so glaring would have been picked up…well maybe if tapes were still around when Investigator Rebelo took over it may well have the solved the case very quickly, four months later that is!

Annie1 …….. It’s the Planets! Mixed blessings and mixed feelings for a 48 hour period -Much benevolence mixed with malevolence.
Some people say that when this atmosphere is present - the Angels are colser to the ground - Earth. Lots of plane disasters in the past few weeks as well.
The Planets concerned with money are in flux. The greater picture is - we will all become less materialistic and more humanitarian!
Too right! We can’t be too materialistic when there’s less money around - can we?
The outer Planets are telling us we are in for a peculiar ride over the next few years! Phew!

Well, I took the dog for a run - went out into fields near my house about half an hour ago - and my god it was eerie tonight - a sort of dangerouse stillness, anyone know what I mean? I am usually OK at anytime of night, but tonight has a really strange feel about it. I’m sure that the financial situation couldnt create such an atmosphere of pending doom - or maybe it is the lul before the storm and tomorrow will be a cracker of a day!! I do get critisised for trecking off in the early hours, and up until now I have never found it particularly uneasy - tonight was different - anyone else has any strange feelings about today?

Hi Sam - If you want to read though the G blogs they are all on http://www.mccannfiles.com along with all sorts of information. Anyway, just popped in for a few mins to see if anything new is happening. Seems things are a bit quiet at present. I did notice on one news report on TV there was a sigh from the newpaper reviewer that with all the hype about the banks, at least the name McCann was not so prominent - so even the media are getting a bit brassed off with it all. It is a saga that could run as long as the Archers!

Hello everyone - Brandon - that compilation was - well!! I just wanted to smack every ounce of arogance from their smirking grimacing faces. I have seen most of the clips before, but to see them all one after another - sure does make my blood boil. I know that without concrete evidence, just observations mean nothing, but surely to God none of the interviews shown there are representative of parents who have “lost” their daughter. Every inch of the way, the pair of them are on a mission to preserve themselves and their image and justify their actions. Disgraceful!

i have a theory.
if you ask for a freezer on freecycle.com it’s possible to obtain a freezer without using any id within hours.
the pj would be wise to analyse the logfiles of http://www.freecyleo.es and search for ‘body concealing’ ‘freezer’ and ‘disinfectant’.

I’m not sure. The PJ probably won’t release specifics on such individuals, they seem to have some tight privacy laws (thankfully!). I came across something about restrictions on CCTV there - the UK could learn a thing or too from them.
I was wondering about the waiter too, Haven’t heard mention of the wine bottle count in ages. Will that be in the files? - make or break detail that one

About two weeks ago or so there was a discussion on here re the wine and can’t remember it in detail but no way near the amount what had been speculated on here. CoolandCalm was discussing it then with someone.
I would hope they would not reveal the particulars on the people, RS, but just wondering if note in file re investigating each one thoroughly! Restrictions on CCTV (the cameras around?)? The UK’s seems to have come in handy in crime cases over there and when they were hit by the terrorists in identifying them. This whole case could have been over by now if the resort had had CCTV working on property.
