Cheer up, Anorka; things could be a great deal worse.
Admittedly they almost certainly will, but at least so far our wise statespersons have steered a steady course straight for the rocks, sorry, not the rocks, between the Scylla of ‘They broke it, they can fix it’ and the Charybdis of ‘Let’s give them so much money our eyes will bleed’ of the financial markets.
Things have come to a pretty pass when an Italian bank is in better shape than the titans of UK finance…

The banks can’t add up either, which is rather more worrying…
