Arsenal flop Gervinho’s move to Abu Dhabi Club collapses over demands for a private beach

gervino

Former Arsenal player Gervinho has managed to achieve what many thought impossible: he has made the princes of Abu Dhabi think his lifestyle too rich, a tad flashy.

Gazzetta dello Sport says Gervinho’s move from Roma to Abu Dhabi’s Al Jazira FC is off.

An unnamed Al Jazira executive has publicly bemoaned the 28-year-old winger’s ‘obscene’ contract demands. It’s claimed the player wanted a personal helicopter, access to his own private beach and unlimited plane travel.

Add that to a reported €13million fee and the package was too rich for the Abu Dhabi locals.

If only he would have stuck at the air-conditioned rain forest, things would have been easy.

Man jailed for saying ‘damn mosques’ in Abu Dhabi

TO Abu Dhabi, where an engineer employed by the parks and recreation section of Abu Dhabi Municipality to create gardens around a mosque has been arrested for asking: “When will we finish with the damn mosques?” He has appeared before the Court of Misdemeanours and sentenced to one month in prison.

The engineer, frustrated by the project, committed his crime in a meeting. A colleague thought it right to tell the police.

The villain told the court:

“I said it out of concern for the project because I wanted it to be ready as soon as possible.”

Abu Dhabi To Follow The Birmingham Model: Welcome To Rover World

WHERE Birmingham leads, Abu Dhabi follows. It was ever so. Now, following the successful export of powdered custard, the Beardmore Precison Motorcycle and Judas Priest, Birmingham is sending good governance to the sand-blasted Department of Municipal Affairs (DMA).

Wonks in Abu Dhabi are mulling over the idea of restructuring the city’s municipal government along the lines of Birmingham City Council.

Man Arrested In Fake $1 Million Bills Scam

IN Abu Dhabi, a man has being trying to get change for his $1m note. He’s sent a woman into the UAE Central Bank.

Abu Dhabi has more money than sense (see Manchester City squad), and the man is banking on changing his note for smaller bills and coins. He tells the woman that the note is commonplace in world currency markets.

He tells her he will take just 30per cent of the face value. She agrees.

But the note is a fake. The 44-year-old suspect, from the Ivory Coast named by police only as AB, is arrested.

Madeleine McCann: The Election, A Joke And In The Emirates

madeleine mccann new picture3 Madeleine McCann: Katie Price, JonBenet Ramsey And PR PaedosMADDIE WATCH – Anorak’s at-a-glance guide to press coverage of Madeleine McCann – Can Madeleine McCann feature in the election and advertise the Emirates?

Matthew Flinders: Yorkshire Evening Post:

Can Madeleine McCann be part of the election?

Let us not pretend that the Telegraph’s coverage of the MPs’ expenses scandal was concerned with public propriety, just as the tabloids’ focus on Madeleine McCann is not driven by concern for the child. The word “Madeleine” sells: the word “sleaze” sells. My message to politicians is simple: “Stand up, dust yourself down and begin to fight back”

Photos: Manchester City 2 Chelsea 1, Premier League

WHEN Manchester City took on Chelsea in The Battle Of The Fossils – Roman Abramovich’s Gas versus Abu Dhabi’s air Conditioning – all eyes were on the stands. Would the megarich owners decide the result over port and cigars? But as we looked for dice being rolled, we saw the City fans in their clear Anoraks. And we loved them fot it. Not since those heady days of inflatable fruit, eggs, a giant Godzilla and the Ladies And Lovers of Abu Dhabi luncheon has no much plastic been seen in the City stands. Man City won the game 2-1, with goals from Tevez and Adebayor. Sheikh Mansour was delighted – he came for the rain…

Man City The Next Club In Crisis

WEST Ham is in the mire. And Man City?

Dubai may need help from Abu Dhabi and the United Arab Emirates government to finance a surge in borrowing that paid for the world’s tallest tower, palm tree- shaped man-made islands and stakes in banks worldwide.

That’s the transfer kitty gone…

Anyone know what they did with Peter Swailes ?
