Woman Impaled On Toilet Roll Holder
IN today’s episode of Unfamiliar Ways to Die, we journey to Dallas, where a woman has become impaled on her toilet roll holder.
Dallas Fire Rescue responds to a call. The crew enter the building. They hear a soft call for help. Dallas Fire Rescue Public Information Officer Jason Evans surveys the bathroom. He sees:
“A 69-year-old female, sitting on the toilet, with a toilet paper holder impaled in her neck… She has a history of bad knees and it’s very difficult for her to walk. And she apparently fell and the toilet paper holder just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

Man Chewing On Bullet Shoots Himself In Face
THE man who lives on 2400 block of South 128th East Avenue, Tulsa, has a hole in his face. He manages to tell police attending reports of a shooting that a live shell had bounced off of his garage floor and hit him in the face. The bullet is lodged in his sinus cavity.

China Builds Safety Wall Across Motorway: Drivers Not Told
TO China, land of health and safety. There, Zou Tieqin, 42, is talking to media:
“I had my family in the car and I suddenly saw the wall in my headlights. I braked but it was too late and I went straight through.
“We were saved by our airbags but when we got out of the car we saw lots of other vehicles piling in. Some weren’t so lucky. The people responsible cannot get away with this and we are demanding compensation.”

Six Dead At Cork Airport: Martin McGuinness Not Among Them
SIX people are dead at Cork Airport. A plane crashed in fog. Six others were injured as the turbo prop aircraft with 10 passengers and two crew was travelling from Belfast City Airport on a Manx2 commuter flight.
The Mail says:
Sin Fein’s Martin McGuinness was due to take doomed flight that crashed in Cork but changed plans at the last minute [sic]
Six dead but the Mail focuses on one who remains alive.

New York Subway Train Hits Man’s Head: Monsters, Balls And Halle Berry’s Rescue
WILL Rokos was hit in the head by a New York Subway train. He lived. The New York Post says the man lying on the platform wrote the film Monster’s Ball. This adds a layer to the story.
The New York Post says Rokos “could pen a movie about his experience”. He could but it would be pretty dull, unless he can fall in love with the women who picked up her own head and discover an amazing reason why the witche’s hat that bought parts of the London Underground to a standstill (but how can you tell?) .
Anyhow, here’s the outline for the plot:
Cops said Rokos was waiting inside the 14th Street station at Seventh Avenue for a No. 2 train Saturday afternoon when he leaned over to peer down the tunnel.

Man Shoots Himself In Sleep
SANDFORD Rothman shot himself whilst sleepwalking in his home. The 63-year-old did not die. He missed his vital organ, shooting himself in the knee. The Boulder Daily Camera says at 2am, Rothman was awakened by a loud bang.
Then the pain kicked in – Rothmans had shot himself in the knee with that 9 millimetre pistol he keeps under the bed in case anyone should, er, try to harm him…

Doctors Set Blackburn Patient’s Foot At Wrong Angle: Photo
TO Blackburn, Lancashire, where Michael Loftus has had his foot set at the wrong angle to his leg by medics at Royal Blackburn Hospital.
Mr Loftus, 24, of Rockcliffe Street, Blackburn, went to hospital after he fell down some steps and suffered breaks to his fibula and tibia.
One day after the accident he was in the Royal Blackburn Hospital. His foot is reset – 10 degrees to the right.
His feet now tell the time in Madrid.
Says Mr Loftus:
“They were going to send me home because they didn’t even realise there was something wrong with it at first. You can see it straight away. It’s slanted to the right hand side. It’s painful around my ankle. It’s just a shambles.”

Old Man And Wheelie Bin Rescued Mile Out To Sea Off Anglesey
THE trouble began when the 81-year-old man took his inflatable dingy into the sea off Anglesey to fetch his friend’s wheelie bin that had blown in.
He set sail dressed in his day clothes. He had on neither waterproofs nor a life jacket.
The winds were up and the man was blown a mile out to see off Red Wharf Bay. An emergency call went out and Moelfre inshore lifeboat was launched to rescue him.

Woman Kills Sex Pest Husband As She Hoovers Floor
MARIA Maria Gotenko of Chernigov, Ukraine, killed her husband Victor when he tried to have sex with her as she vacuumed the floor at their home.
As the 47-year-old man was fondling her, Maria unplugged the Hoover and wrapped the lead about his throat.
He might have thought his luck was in until he collapsed and died.

No Charges Brought Against Women Who Took Dead Relative On Liverpool To Berlin Plane
THE two women caught trying to place a board a plane at Liverpool John Lennon Airport with a dead body wearing sunglasses and sat in a wheelchair will not face any charges.
Gitta Jarant, 66, and her daughter Anke Anusic, 41, had been pinched in April 2010 for trying to get the pair’s, respectively, husband and father, 91-year-old Kurt Willi Jarant, on board the plane to Berlin.
The CPS and police have dropped because a time of death could not be ascertained.
Says Martin Hill, reviewing lawyer for the Crown Prosecution Service:
“Having carefully reviewed a file of evidence presented to me by police, I have concluded that there is insufficient evidence to bring any charges in relation to the death of Kurt Willi Jarrant.”

Ghost Train Hunter Killed When Real Train Arrives
GHOST train hunter Christopher Kaiser, 29, of Charlotte, was stood on the 300-ft long span of the Bostian Bridge, North Carolina, waiting for the phantom locomotive to arrive. He would soon be killed by a real train.
Kaiser and other hunters were on the bridge to mark the 119th anniversary of the August 27, 1891 tragedy when a passenger train jumped the tracks. The seven carriages plunged down. About 30 people died.
They say that every year you can see the ghost train coming. You can hear the scream of the breaks. You can see the ghosts.

Man About To Propose Watches Girlfriend Killed By Lightning
RICHARD Butler and his girlfriend, Bethany Lott, are stood in the mountains of North Carolina. On Max Patch Bald, near Asheville. Mr Butler is ready to propose…marriage. The couple from Knoxville, Tennessee, will be one.
Then lightning bears down. She is killed. He suffers third degree burns. Says Butler to the Ashville Citizen Times:
“I was spun 180 degrees and thrown several feet back. My legs turned to Jello. My shoes were smoking and the bottom of my feet felt like they were on fire.”

Boy Has Stick Removed From Eye Two Years After It Got There
RAHUL Devi has a 3-inch splinter stick in his eye. It’s been in his eye for two years. He got it there when he fell onto a stick. The stick pierced his brain. The Daily Mail calls him Rahul.
CNN-IBN says his name is Varun. Dr PS Chandra, Associate Professor, Neurosurgery, at the All India Institue of Medical Sciences, says:
“Splinter was lodged in a very dangerous location through left eye into temporal lobe. It was very near the main artery that supplies blood to brain. It is a miracle how he managed for two years without any problem.”

Man Loses Hand In Tug-Of-War
TO Shenzen, China, where a tug-of-war rubber sees a tugger see his hand pulled off.
Shi, a deputy general manager at a night club, was celebrating the Dragon Boat Festival with colleagues on a beach at 4.30am, according to the Southern Metropolitan Daily.
Shi, 1.8 meters tall and 34-years-old, was the anchorman in his five-man team and had coiled the rope around his hand several times for stability, letting the rest of the rope fall to the ground.
