Rio Ferdinand bonfire chant: thought police want Fifa to punish England fans

Soccer - World Cup Mexico 1986 - Group F - England v Portugal - Tecnologico Stadium

“RIO RACE TAUNTS”, is the Daily Mail’s lead sports story. The paper says England have been reported to FiFa for “alleged racist” chants direted at Manchester United’s Rio Ferdinand and his younger bother Anton. What did these scumbag England fans say?

Fines could be imposed after Football Against Racism in Europe (FARE) flagged up to world football’s governing body the vile songs which suggested the pair be burned.

Cripes! What did they say? Can it be repeated in a family newspaper?

The chant was: ‘Build a bonfire, build a bonfire, put Rio on the top, put Anton in the middle, then burn the f****** lot.’

John Terry: guilty of racially abusing QPR’s Anton Ferdinand in FA hearing

WHAT do you do about racists? Tell them they’re wrong? Well, that doesn’t work because there’s no reasoning with racists. Punch them in the mouth then? Violence and racism pretty much equate in terms of lousy actions.

Well, if you’re the FA and you’ve just found John Terry guilty of being racist, you hand them a four match ban.

That’s right! Four whole days off work for being a thoroughly awful human. And that’s what John Terry is. That’s not to say he’s an actual racist, rather, he seems to be the kind of person who might say the most damaging thing in his head just to wound someone, whether he means it or not.

John Terry escapes the thought police – real racism exists beyond football

THANKS to Chelsea captain John Terry and Anton Ferdinand, the court of Great Britain and Northern Ireland know that ‘FBC’ stands for “fucking black cunt”. The other thing we know is that an innocent man – Terry might be a dislikable oik but he is no racist – can be condemned by the right minded with a cause.

Comments on Terry have come thick and thicker. Manchester United’s Rio Ferdinand showcased his stupidity with a tweet about Ashley Cole being a “choc ice”. Cole held the sensible opinion that the matter should never have reached court.

Duwayne Brooks, Stephen Lawrence’s friend who was there that night when the black teenager was murdered by racists, tells The Times’ readers:

So there can be no denying that the “not guilty” verdict at Westminster Magistrates Court is a setback for those of us who want to drive racist language out of the game… A guilty verdict would have been a breath of fresh air for football at all levels in Britain.

John Terry racism trial day 1: Rio Ferdinand’s film choice and Vanessa Perroncel

JOHN Terry. What a geyser, eh?  The Chelsea captain was at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, London, for the start of his trial for allegedly racially abusing QPR’s  Anton Ferdinand. The trial will last five days.

Also in court was Doreen Lawrence, mother of murdered black teenager Stephen Lawrence. He was knifed to death by racists. Does her presence prejudice your view on the matter?

The Queens Park Rangers defender tells the court that he did not hear the allegedly racist comment from the Chelsea captain during the match in October 2011. But had he done, he would have found it “very hurtful”.

On Twitter, Anton’s older brother, Manchester United mainstay Rio Ferdinand, tweets:

Not much to say about that, other than it’s a pretty so-so film and it’s more fun to watch Terry in the dock.

John Terry: Sun Says QPR’s Anton Ferdinand Wants To Shoot Chelsea Captain John Terry

JOHN Terry Race Row: Anton Ferdinand shoots a gun; Ashley Cole speaks; and Rio Ferdinand tweets against the FA:

The Sun spots Anton Ferdinand, the QPR defender at a paintballing do. Below a photo of the player dressed in a mask and wielding a paintball gun, the Sun declares:

“Ferdinand may have enjoyed taking a few pot-shots a his Rangers mates. But no prizes for guessing who he really wanted in his sights…”

Is it Nelson Mandela? Noel Edmonds? The Queen?

The Sun knows. It can read Ferdinand’s mind. How’s that for talent?  As far as we know, Ferdinand has offered no new evidence on the matter that is being investigated by the police. He says he never heard Terry says the words “f**ing black c***” until he saw the footage on YouTube. Still, if the police can get the Sun’s writers into the interview suite they can read Terry’s mind and find out if he really is innocent, as he claims.

John Terry Race Row: Death Threats, Anton Ferdinand For England And Hiding In Sweden

JOHN TERRY Race Row: Anorak’s at-a-glance look at the Chelsea and England captain in the news – death threats; Spain, Sweden, office politics and Ince:

The Sun (front page): “Cops hunt sicko – Soccer Race Row Death Threat”

The Sun describes QPR’s Anton Ferdinand as a “soccer ace”. Can it be that as the race row thickens, Ferdinand gets better at football and the tabloids are calling for his inclusion in the England team at Terry’s expense? The paper’s Shaun Curtis writes:

RACE-row footballer Anton Ferdinand has become the target of a terrifying death threat, The Sun can reveal.

Not an idle death threat. A terrifying one.

Cops were called in after a letter was sent to his Queens Park Rangers club following claims Anton, 26, was racially abused by Chelsea skipper John Terry in a game at Loftus Road two weeks ago. Police investigating the death threat have told Anton to fit a panic alarm at his home.

Daily Mail Says Racism Is No Big Deal: Black Footballers Should Complain About More Important Things

THE Daily Mail’s Steve Doughty will now offer his views on John Terry, Anton Ferdinand and all that alleged racism:

“Things may not be perfect but, at the end of the day, Gary, there are worse things to complain about. So, Mr Evra and Mr Ferdinand, I know you feel insulted. But perhaps in this case you could just put up with it and get on with the game.”

Now, had Terry said “Oi! Did you say Gaddafi deserved to die, you knobhead” or “Oi! Did you say I was a f*****g c*** like Steve Doughty” then those black footballers would have real grounds to complain…

Chelsea’s John Terry Says He Is The Real Victim Of QPR Abuse: Anton Ferdinand Might Wonder

DID England and Chelsea captain John Terry racially abuse QPR defender Anton Ferdinand? Coming after the allegation that Liverpool’s Suarez called Manchester United’s Evra a nigger, this looks like more bad news for football (Suarez denies the charge.).

The allegation is that Terry called Ferdinand a black c**t.

Terry’s explanation is that the conversation went like this:

Ferdinand: “Did you just call me a f***ing black c***?”
Terry: “Oi! I never said f***ing black c*** you f***ing knobhead.”

Terry issues a statement:

“I’ve seen that there’s a lot of comments on the internet with regards to some video footage of me in today’s game. I’m disappointed that people have leapt to the wrong conclusions about the context of what I was seen to be saying to Anton Ferdinand. I thought Anton was accusing me of using a racist slur against him. I responded aggressively, saying that I never used that term. I would never say such a thing, and I’m saddened that people would think so. I have known Anton for a long time and spoke to him about it after the game, and there was no problem between us. I congratulated him on their win. He has not accused me of any wrongful remark. It was clear it was all a misunderstanding at the time. After the result, I am saddened to be dealing with these wrongful allegations. I am the proud captain of one of the most internationally diverse teams in the Premier League and I absolutely believe that there is no place for racism in sport and indeed in any walk of life.”

Context is important. In this age of the internet, where words can be taken out of context and played with – where political discourse is reduced as the players dare not use irony – words can take on new meanings.

Michael Jackson Tribute Show Kicks Off Premier League

michael_jackson_footballMICHAEL Jackson Watch: Anorak’s at-a-glance look at Michael Jackson in the news – Rio Ferdinand and Anton’s Premier League tribute, Tinchy Stryder denies, Jackson beats Elvis and Officer La Toya Jackson (LA PD) gets her man…

The Sun: “Jacko’s £120m stacko

MICHAEL Jackson’s estate is expected to make £120million this year alone – and he will soon become the top-earning dead star.

Bigger than Jesus? Jackson’s the hardest working corpse in showbiz:

Executors of the Thriller singer’s legacy have already made £60million from merchandising contracts and a deal to make a film from unreleased footage of rehearsals for his doomed O2 gigs.

Album sales and other royalties could double that sum. John Branca, 59, who makes the decisions on marketing the tragic star with co-executor John McClain, 54, said they are set to earn more than Elvis Presley – who rakes in £33million a year.

Elvis is dead? Nooooooooo…

Times: “Rod Temperton – Thrilling the Publishers”

It may come as something of a surprise that some of Michael Jackson’s biggest hits – including ‘Thriller’, ‘Rock With You’ and ‘Off The Wall’ were written by a long forgotten keyboard player from Cleethorpes. Yet Rod Temperton was one of the most sought after producers in the post-disco period who penned some of the best-known hits of the 1980s.

Wow. And these hits were first sung by a little kid from Gary, Indiana. Amazing!
